This yerba mate is a bit pricey but it smells and tastes great.

Just reading the box makes you believe it will taste luxurious and exotic. Here is what the box says:

“Cardamom plants grow in the monsoon forests of southern India. Known as the “Queen of Spices,” the prized seed pods have been sought after for thousands of years. Belonging to the same family of plants as ginger, cardamom has an intensely aromatic fragrance and a warm, spicy flavour.
Traditionally, the kings of India drank Chai that contained this flavorful spice. With yerba mate as the base for our chaï, we’ve added the best of fresh cardamom and other spices to create a royal cup of tea, pleasant with milk and honey.”

I drank it plain with no milk honey or sugar but It really lived up to my expectation and the description. This is definitely one of my new favorites.

I acquired half a box of this when a co-worker was cleaning out the kitchen at work. I tried to find some more locally but it isn’t available at the local stores so I ordered some more from their web site today. I really don’t want to run out of this one.

This tea was perfect. Slightly sweet and peachy but I did not notice any tartness like many other fruit teas. I will definitely be buying this tea again.

drank Dream Camomile Lemon by Tetley

This was a nice twist on the traditional plain chamomile tea. I recommend this tea on occasion to mix it up. However, most of the time I prefer plain chamomile tea than this blend.

The ingredients include chamomile, licorice root and lemon flavor but chamomile is the only one of these flavors I can clearly identify. I can definitely taste that there is something more than just chamomile but it is hard to put my finger on what it is without reading the ingredients.

Boiling 8 min or more 11 OZ / 325 ML

Licorice root? hmmm

I could taste the blueberry but the tea had a tart flavor from the other ingredients that was stronger than the blueberry. I enjoyed the tea but it wasn’t one of my favorites.

Did you try this hot? I personally LOVE this one iced.

Yes I tried it hot. Maybe I will try it iced next time.

In general I am not really into black tea but this is vanilla flavored spiced black tea. I find the vanilla gives this tea just the extra something that allows me to enjoy it.

This smells and tastes excellent. This is one of my new favorites.

A nice berry flavor and a mild/background mango taste. Slightly sweet and a bit tart.

I tasted it a few times as it was steeping and it seemed to become more tart as it steeped. If you don’t like the tart flavor then try steeping for 3 to 5 minutes. If you like fruit teas more tart then leave the bag in.

I wonder how this would be iced! I really enjoyed True Blueberry/ Black cherry as iced teas.

This tea was WAY TOO SWEET! I finished the cup but it was a struggle.

The spice blend was ok but not that good but what really ruined it was the fact that it was overly sweet.

I tried it again blended with a regular chai tea thinking that it might make it taste better. unfortunately this blend was also a disappointment. Sorry but I just can’t recommend Bengal Spice.

I will end up giving the rest of the box away if I can find someone else who likes this stuff.

Bio

I just recently got into tea (fall of 2015).

I love trying many types of tea. So far I have tried many Black, Oolong, Green and White teas as well as Yerba Mate, Rooibos, Honey Bush, Chamomile, Mint and fruit teas. I have liked good teas in almost every category. I don’t go for overly bitter/astringent, tart, or sweet teas and I never add milk/cream, sugar or other sweeteners to my tea.

Even though I have many excellent teas I always want to try a new one just to see what it tastes like and if I like it even better than my current favorites. Eventually I will focus more on drinking my favorites rather than always trying a different type of tea.

Ratings:

85+ Excellent and I will definitely repurchase soon so I don’t run out.

75-84 Really good and I will probably buy it again.

65-74 Good and I might buy it again but on the other hand maybe I won’t repurchase.

50-64 OK and I might finish the box.

1-49 Really did not like it at all. I probably dumped out the rest of the cup for the teas on the lower end of this range.

I am only doing one review per tea. If I drink it multiple times and my opinion changes then I will go back and update my rating and tasting notes.
