Made the last of this of my sample as cold brew last night. I used about 2 tsps in about 16oz water and I left it about 10 hours.

Honestly, this is so good I’m going to have to increase the rating. It’s such an interesting iced tea. A bit floral, notes of citrus, and quite malty. It’s light bodied but still flavorful and the taste really lingers after you take a sip. Honestly I think I might pick some up to use iced this summer, it’s incredible this way.

This is a really lovely young sheng. No bitterness with a beautifully full fruity body and lingering sweetness. Others taste apricot which I can see, but I found it most like an over-ripe cherry. Definitely spectacular for a young sheng, but the most striking part about this tea is the savory aspect to it. It’s very unique but melds well with the fruitiness.

I only gave it one rinse, and I’m glad I didn’t do more because it had beautiful flavor right from the get-go. It also brews up to a really beautiful color. A gorgeous sunset orange/pink. Definitely going on my to-buy list.

Tea Chai Te didn’t have a decent description of this one on its website, so I honestly wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. But since I’ve only had roasted TGYs before so I decided to pick up an oz just to try it out. There also weren’t any brewing instructions so I winged it and did my usual green oolong brew of 1tsp of tea in 7oz for 2 minutes in 190º water.

It tastes like rich raw honey dipped in water. Maybe a little bit of a green taste at the back of the sip, but mostly just rich rich honey. Not at all like I was expecting. I thought the Yue Guang Bai cake from Puerhshop tasted like honey, but this blows that one out of the water. If you gave this to a non tea-drinker I’m positive they wouldn’t believe you hadn’t added the honey yourself.

Tea Cha Te doesn’t get that much press on here, but I’ve been very happy with them. They ship quickly, I think their prices are fair, and I’ve enjoyed all of the teas I received from them. In this past order I picked up an oz of three different tea, but all weighed closer to 50g which was a very nice surprise. I definitely recommend checking them out.

There weren’t many instructions on the package for this tea, just steep for 3 minutes. No note of amount or water temp, so I made my best guess and used 1 tsp in 7oz with ~185º water.

It turned out pretty well, even though I thought it would be a bit light. This tastes very similar to DTH’s Organic Yunnan black tea, with that deep savory caramel note. It has a light mouthfeel, but the flavor is quite rich. There’s a little bit of fruitiness, but it’s mostly caramel. Not at all what I was expecting, but I really enjoy it.

I seem to have lost my taste for roasted oolongs. I used to really enjoy them, but nowadays it seems like the roasted flavors are just overwhelming. This one is supposed to have notes of “rich stone fruit, caramel and honey”. But it just tastes roasty with maybe a bit of vague fruitiness if I concentrate. It doesn’t seem to be a poor quality tea, but my tongue just muddles all the flavors.
It’s a bummer because I have a bunch of roasted oolongs laying around that I used to enjoy with no interest in drinking them anymore. I guess that’s a sign I should probably drink up my teas as I buy them instead of hoarding them!
