This tea has a lightly fruity flavor that’s rather pleasant, and this is coming from someone who generally dislikes fruity teas.

The best part of the tea, however, is that it helps a goodly bit with cramps, even though it’s not marketed specifically as such.

Not the best tasting tea I’ve ever had but it is definitely effective in helping my body fight off a cold! Will always have some of this tea on hand :).
Tip: I tend to use each teabag a few times throughout the day to get lots of fluids in me and to limit costs.

Called “Throat Formula” in Canada, however it has the same ingredients (except they’re not all organic) and quantities. I can’t remember exactly how it tasted, but it wasn’t bad!

Hard to find now, But it really does help with bad moods/depression. Just breathing the steam off it while it’s brewing helps to lift the mood!

Do you know where I can get this tea? I have been looking for the past couple of weeks but everything seems to be out of stock. If you know anyone who still has some in inventory, please let me know…

My tea drinking lately has been boring due to ear thing, cough and sore throat, I’ve brewed various loose leaf green teas with various Traditional Medicinal tea bags, sometimes steeping the green first then using that liquid for the bag, sometimes vice versa and haven’t been pleased with any of the results until this one. Throat Coat (because that’s the predominant symptom today) with Choice Organic’s Kukicha bag tea. I steeped the former for 5 mins on its own and added the twig tea for an additional 3 mins. The result? Sweet, roasted, deep, cool spice, soothing goodness. They round each other out very nicely.

I did get to brew tea for my sister and our husband, Bailin Gonfu and Laoshan Northern Black. For whatever reason the Bailin was not playing very nicely, but they loved the Laoshan. Still on the hunt for a gaiwan, I’m torn about styles and hesitant about ordering from random online stores. Any suggestions are welcome.

On a completely unrelated note, I chopped my hair to chin length (it was long and getting so easily tangled). Weight off my shoulders for sure, husband doesn’t know yet and likely will not care, should be long again by November.

I really wanted to try some new tea samples this morning, but my throat said no, so I found this at the back of the pantry (not the tea cupboard). I don’t know how long I’ve been drinking this, at least since adolescence and I don’t know why I don’t rely on it more often, it works like nothing else to sooth, honeybush and rooiboses be damned. I’m not going to take tea bags into work but perhaps I shall cut a few open and put them into a tiny Teavana tin, because being able to talk to my customers is the most important part of work. Also I love the anise sweetness ;) Removed rating because I find it weird to compare straight tea to this, but its a 100 in its own category.

WOW thats a lot of licorice! so sweet, but very nice for my sore throat.
lemon and echinacea are a super addition to the standard throat coat (plus an upped amount of licorice, again – WOW)
would be even more lovely with some honey :)

I’m not feeling this tea tonight. I think it’s a taste I have to be in the mood for. Again, I think it’s the licorice. I know it’s good for me, though. Functionality is important in an herbal tea, I suppose.

I bought this tea because my throat has been itchy all evening and a friend of mine just came down with a flu, but I’m not sure if it’s a stomach virus or a real flu, and I’m an emetophobe, but I really don’t want either one anyway, so I’ve been dosing up on every herb in the house today (oregano oil, olive leaf, black walnut hull, echinacea and goldenseal, garlic, plus probiotics and ginger kombucha). The life of an emetophobe and hypochondriac is never dull. Anyway, on to the tea.

The licorice in this definitely ensures that you won’t want to add sugar. It’s almost too sweet for me, actually, but it almost has a cinnamon sweetness. There is, as other people have said, a sort of kick in the throat, but it’s not annoying and it doesn’t burn. I think that if my throat was actually sore, it might have a really nice effect on it. I kind of wish the earthy, root taste was a bit stronger in comparison to the licorice, and I don’t get very much lemon from it. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing because it’s so flavorful already, but I prefer earthy and lemony to sweet and spicy. I don’t think I’d drink this just for the sake of having a cup of tea, because I’d prefer something more robust for that, but this is a surprisingly tasty tea, and I really love the ingredients.

Tonight, I made my second cup of this tea. I hadn’t meant to boil the water, but I let it get too hot when I wasn’t paying attention. Anyway, onto the tea. I steeped it (covered) for ten minutes. The first thing I noticed about this tea was the spearmint smell, which is lovely and just slightly sweet. Taste-wise, it’s great unsweetened. It’s light (but full), minty, sweet, and towards the end, just slightly fruity. I felt like it got sweeter as I got closer to the bottom of the mug, but the sweetness hit me at the back of the mouth, which is weird to me, but when I watered it down a bit, it got a lot better. I think I was just getting a lot of sediment. It’s a really satisfying tea, and while I haven’t been drinking it long enough to know whether it actually positively affects one’s reproductive organs, a lot of the ingredients have been used for women’s health for many years. I was especially excited to find that it contains cramp bark, which has worked for me in the past. This is an evening tea, for me, and I’m glad I bought it.

I like the fact the this tea starts off tasting just as warm water (depending on what the temperature of the water is) and as you drink it it has a interestingly sweet taste which is somewhat addicting. It also is very smooth as you drink it. Now taking the fact that is is interestingly sweet taste and a smooth texture, I personally think this tea is just decent.

I had strayed over to Yogi Teas for a while, but had gotten tired of the licorice in everything they offer. So with a recent bout of what may be acid reflux (not sure, but it runs in the family) I am trying to be very kind to my tummy.
This tastes pretty good actually- minty/herby. It actually seems to be working, and what’s more the sinus headache I had all day finally start to go away.
I have a few coupons for Traditional Medicinals (they’re in just about every magazine I read), so I think I’ll return to them next time I have an ailment.

I get acid reflux too but mint seems to make it worse… :-/

Lisbet

Ugh. It does say on the box to use caution when taking it for acid reflux, but it seemed okay for me, so far.

I’m almost out of my medicinal Bronc-Aid tea (which really isn’t so bad though I don’t think I’d ever drink it for fun) so I figured I’d pick some of this up as a replacement since it was available and the store I was at had no Bronc-Aid.

Can’t say I’m wild about this. It’s not bad (though, okay, the first sip I did make a face – there was some sort of bitter end note that flashed by and thankfully didn’t repeat in later sips) but I wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is good.

Licorice is the strongest taste and that makes it not so bad since it adds some sweetness to the tea. But it’s pretty much the only flavor in the aftertaste and it’s pretty cloying after a few minutes. I’m getting pretty tired of it. Tea (or even not-tea) doesn’t usually leave me with the urge to chew gum unless I use sugar and milk in it.

Aside from licorice, there’s a bit of herbal-ly green darkness to it that is probably the peppermint and eucalyptus but it isn’t strong enough to come across as mentholated or whooshy (which I was kind of hoping for). My mouth does feel a bit cooler, so perhaps that is the mint and eucalyptus in action. Still, could have used more in the flavor.

Honestly? Not all that tasty. It’s kind of bland and flat and I really wish the flavor wasn’t licorice so dominated. At the same time, the sweetness from the licorice (and the way that seems to coat my mouth) is probably the only reason I didn’t keep making faces as I sipped.

I think I’ll see if my mom wants to share this box with me so I can get rid of it a bit faster. I’ll either go back to my cat-urine-smelling-but-not-bad-tasting Bronc-Aid or try the Yogi Teas lung-ular focused not-tea.

Tonight, I put down my cat after a 2 yr struggle with Thyroid disease and pancreatic cancer. She was 21.5 yrs old. She fought for life valiantly, coming back time after time even after the vet said she had only weeks left on this world.
Born into a life of extreme poverty and abuse, she was lucky to eventually land in our home. No, actually, we were the lucky ones. That cat stayed with us when we were sick, entertained us to no end, and warmed our hearts when we were sad.
I miss her already. No wonder, since I have known her for just over two thirds of my life.
Somehow, I find it fitting that I am laden with a head cold on this day- a gentle reminder that my mild suffering is a fraction of the pain she put aside for the sake of keeping a brave face. Funny, that my being sick has helped me cope with the guilt of ending another creature’s life.
That is why I find this tea oddly appropriate… soothing of my soul as well as the bug that ails me. A half spoon of honey rounds it off, coating my sore throat caused not by sickness but by crying my eyes out earlier today.
RIP my dear Midnight. I’ll miss you forever.

P.S. If only cats could enjoy tea…

nomadinjeopardy

I’m so sorry! I’m glad she found such a loving and long-lasting home.

Indigobloom

thanks Jessie :hearts:
It was serendipity if I’ve ever seen it… that she landed in our laps…

Cattibrie

So sorry to hear you have lost your wonderful friend.

Dinosara

So sorry for your loss! It’s always so hard to lose such a close companion. Glad you have a soothing tea.

Ninavampi

I’m so sorry! Cats and Dogs earn their way into our hearts. We are incredibly lucky to be able to share our love with them, because theirs for us is unconditional. You were lucky to have each other.

Soothing tea in her honor!

Indigobloom

me to Cattibrie, me to… thanks for your kind words xx
Dinosara: she is the only one in the house who never chastised my tea love… haha. Thx friend
Ninavampi: we(the fam) certainly were lucky. She earned her place and then some… and yes, tea in her honor! and maybe one day a tattoo :)

Ninavampi

: ) I approve of the tattoo idea! I generally am not a fan, but when they are so meaningful, I think that they can totally be worth it.

Indigobloom

hehe thx. I’m the same way… tats just for the sake of tats… well I don’t see the point.

ssajami

So sorry for your loss. It brings tears to my eyes to think of losing a cat so close.(mine is getting on in years too, and that though terrifies me).
Lots of soothing teas, for sure.

TeaBrat

sorry to hear… :(

ScottTeaMan

It’s hard to lose our dear pets…my sympathies Indi

Dorothy

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. I’ve lost a few pets over the years, and it sure feels painful when they go out like that. :( hugs

Daddyselephant

hugs super, super tight I’ve been there, and I know the heartbreak well. Feel free to text or call. <3 I’m so sorry for your loss.

KeenTeaThyme

I’m so sorry about your loss. I’ve totally been there. If you need anything at all, PM me, OK?

ashmanra

So sorry. We had a similar situation with a dog who lived 19 years and the vet would tell us at every visit that he knew it was the last time he would be seeing her. Six months later we would be right back again and hear the same words! I am now trying to get up the courage to get another dog, but I don’t know if I should…

Angrboda

I’m so sorry, Indigobloom. 21.5 years, though, that’s a highly respectable age! Especially if she was ill. I’m not going to say ‘try not to feel guilty’ because I know from experience that this is just not possible when one has had to make that sort of decision. Over time the pain will lessen, I promise. In the meantime, take comfort in all those many years you got to know her, the vast majority of which was as a healthy cat.

mpierce87

I’m so sorry so hear about your loss. I just hope my own beloved felines will grace me with their presence for as long as your dear Midnight. hugs

Indigobloom

Ssajami: well the tea certainly does help. and knowing that she lived more than double the standard life span of a cat in the wild. Cherish your kitty every day! :)

Indigobloom

thx Amy xx

Indigobloom

Scott: it is indeed hard, but so worth the joys they bring when with us :)

Indigobloom

Dorothy: yes it really is tough… one never gets over the loss of their first pet, or so I hear, and I believe it because this certainly does hurt! in time… I will get another and start all over again…

Indigobloom

Aisling: you’re such a sweetheart hugs back… I need hugs! and give one to Pekoe for me to k?

Indigobloom

KeenTeaThyme: If you didn’t live so darned far away I’d invite ya over for tea and we could trade pet stories. and then tea stories… xx

Indigobloom

Ashmanra: wow that is a long time! I’m sorry to hear about your dog :(
If you have the means and time for an animal… I say, go for it! I could never have a dog bc of my work schedule… but one day I will.
thanks for the kind msg xx

Indigobloom

Angroboda: It’s true, most of her many years were happy and carefree. I know it will take time… it’s the cycle of life we all go through, right? (begrudgingly in my case!)
I miss her dearly today but atleast it is bearable now. I was a right mess the other day!
thx so much for the kind words, to you Angroboda and everyone who msgd me xxx

I just took this for my headache and it helped a bit. I liked the taste of the licorice but I’ve taken it before with honey and at a much higher temperature (this time it was only warm) for the flu and colds and it was great (then again-I might have been too tired and sick to taste anything). Get someone to make it for you if you can.

This is the best chamomile I’ve ever had – it is difficult to describe, but it has a delicious earthy flavour.

Love ginger tea. Love this one a whole lot. Always makes my stomach feel better if its upset.

It burns your throat deliciously like a good ginger tea should.

Its good with a splash of almond milk.

My only problem is that sometimes the bags break open.

I’ve seen this quite a bit, since I go to St. Olaf, where choir occupies a good portion of many of my friends’ lives. I tried the lemon echinacea last year and don’t really remember what it was like, but when I stumbled into Health Services with a nasty cold and a persistent sore throat, the nurse gave me a bag to try. And try I did. I steeped it for 10 minutes and had some before a midday nap; it felt so good on my scratchy throat…when I woke up it felt much better! I liked the taste too…yes it’s a bit mediciney but I like that. It’s reminiscent of my “Aveda” comforting tea (which I make myself now, heehee) but with more of an anise taste. Mmmm. This is just what I needed.

Drinking this as someone recommended it during the last trimester of pregnancy. I like it better steeped at 15 minutes than I do at 10. And actually the one time I forgot about it for longer it tasted better. It has a semblance to a Ceylon black tea, and is an enjoyable cup for me. I will drink this until baby comes (she’s due 10/24!!!) and maybe for cramps and such down the road.

It seems odd to me that Raspberry Leaf would be recommended during pregnancy (even third trimester) because I’ve always understood it to be a big no-no, specifically in early months. Congratulations, though!!

Uniquity

That sounded weird, and of course I can’t edit it. I guess I’m wondering what the raspberry leaf does that’s beneficial in later months while it’s dangerous in early ones. If that makes sense!

Meghann M

I believe in the early months it is shunned due to risk of miscarraige, but I don’t remember why. I know many have recommended it in the third trimester for uterine muscle toning and overall uterus health. On the American Association of Pregnancy’s website it is an herb that is “considered safe” during pregnancy. That’s about all I know, though, and I am no doctor, so hopefully any other pregnant women would check with their dr before taking this tea.

Uniquity

Thanks for the info, Meghann. I did some extra research after as well and apparently this is one of those items that’s in hot debate. You’d think “we’d” have proven it one way or another by now. : )

Maybe it’s because I prefer tisanes, but this tea isn’t something I will choose to drink for pleasure.

It has a very earthy taste, and the dandelion root is very easy to taste, probably the most obvious note.

I’ve heard from a lot of people that this tea is incredibly beneficial in decreasing their PMS symptoms, although I have yet to use it for that purpose, but I’m sure I will soon.

I also had it with honey and found it much more enjoyable. Although if it turns cold, it’s hard for me to drink. Must have it while it’s hot.

Earthy tasting. Added nothing more than honey to help sweeten but I don’t think I added enough. Not really a excellent tasting tea but can be made to taste better.
