The smell was slightly bitter with a nice sweet accent, sort of similar to soy sauce. This golden brown’s taste was at first slightly sweet but then became woodsy and slightly sweet, with a sort of alcoholic taste (but better because it isn’t alcoholic.) It was very lovely. I will be brewing this beauty of a tea (haha~!!) for an art reception and I am excited to have people try it out.

Oh god.I swear all the closings of companies I love is going to turn me into a tea hoarder someday.

I’ve been holding onto this (like most of my offerings from here) in airtight sealed bags for virtually forever, because I know I can never ever get them again and I am so incredibly saddened by this.

Thankfully it’s still fresh tasting, and I’m winding down to the bottom of this one so I know it won’t go stale on me before I can finish it.

This definitely falls on this flowery side of lychee, though the finish is juicy and more like the fruit. I really enjoy the base they use here, it’s smooth, subtley sweet and light. Fickle, though.

Any lychee green recommendations?

Got this in a swap a while back from Moraiwe. Thanks!
Ooooh! I just had a lemon starburst candy and then took a sip of this! It added a nice lemon flavor that went well with the tea! Once that wears off, I get a nice malty flavor with a little earthiness that is very much like some breakfast teas I have had. It’s pretty smooth and enjoyable! I bet it would be great iced with some lemon!

I used 3 pearls.

I got this from moraiwe in a swap over a year ago but am just trying it for the first time now—whoops! I’d been curious about this one because I adore jasmine but have never tried it paired with a black base before. In this case, the base has that typical Yunnan chocolate thing going on. Though I know it’s a favorite for a lot of people, it’s not for me. Still, this tea is pleasingly well-rounded, with some nice malty notes and a hint of pepper to balance the cocoa out. There’s a bit of astringency, which I don’t mind at all. And, while I think I do prefer jasmine with a green or white base, I’ve got to admit it works surprisingly well with the Yunnan. I’m really enjoying this cup quite a bit, and it’s been the perfect thing for a lazy weekend afternoon of soup-making and sorting out how to prepare freelance invoices. It’s just as well I haven’t fallen in love with it, though, since thepuriTea is long gone now.

Thanks Cheri for the sample. There was a slight smell contamination from a lemony sample that was by this tea, so I can’t really tell what the dry leaf smells like.

I can definitely see how this is compared to candy, this is naturally sweet. It’s also creamy, both in taste and mouthfeel. There’s also a citrus note here that I can’t tell is from the other tea or from this one. Across the next 6 cups, the milky creamy buttery sweet tastes weakened, and fruity floral notes became more evident.

Overall a delicious tea.
