Day #20 is not a tasting note for day #20 because I needed to have a second steep of this the next night. I almost bought three ounces of this because the blend sounded very unique and delicious but I decided to settle for the amount in the Advent calendar. The ingredients: rooibos, honeybush, buckwheat, maple sugar, almond flour, cinnamon, flavors, nutmeg, sliced almonds, coconut, soy pieces, marshmallow pieces, stevia, turmeric. I just love so many many of these ingredients here and was expecting a spectacular cup. However, I’d say I’m just getting SWEETNESS from this cup, probably because of so many sweet ingredients. And with so many sweet ingredients, did the stevia really have to make an appearance? I wish I could actually taste things like the almond flavor and nutmeg and maple and marshmallow…. not to mention the bourbon flavor that I can taste more of in Sue’s Blend. Of course, there is enough here to try this blend a few times, so we shall see.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// few minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5+ minute steep
Day #19 is a unique herbal blend! It’s a festive blend to look at with huge star anise pieces. I just wish I had seen any strawberry pieces in the blend, like I do on the website. I made sure to put one full star anise, a big piece of cinnamon stick, and a teaspoon of the rest of the goodies in my infuser. The main notes here are star anise and hibiscus, but to be fair, there is more anise than hibiscus. It’s odd to me that cinnamon sticks never seem to impart much flavor to any blend I find them in. I would have liked this blend more with a better balance of the flavors — more berry, less hibiscus. It isn’t overwhelming hibiscus anyway. Not enough of the flavors I’d like to taste here!
Steep #1 // around 2 teaspoons for mug // just boiled // 5 minute steep
Day #17! A unique one — a GREEN tea (looks like sencha?) that has cocoa nibs and peppermint. This tea DOES taste like Junior Mints as the description mentions! Hints of milky chocolate and fresh mint make this green tea very delicious. I wasn’t really tasting the green tea itself — only the tasty ingredients. I love this one. I’m having pink peppermint ice cream later anyway though. :D
Steep #1 // 2 teaspoons for a full mug // 32 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // 28 minutes after boiling // ? minutes
Additional notes: Trucking along with the advent. I’m glad most of the teas are enjoyable! I steeped this for quite a while. It didn’t become bitter or astringent but the cinnamon was VERY spicy, almost like cayenne. Very odd but tasty anyway! Not much apple though.
Flavors: Cinnamon
Day #16 is straight up apple and cinnamon on a black tea base. Seems to be more cinnamon than apple. (I wish there was as much apple flavor as there was in the apple chai.) But the Orange Pekoe is a better base than the Ceylon anyway. A perfect combination for winter days and this advent calendar.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a mug // 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 5 minute steep
I was thinking how nice it would be to include candy canes in this adorable carrying case for these teas and then I DID find a couple candy canes on the bottom! How sweet. A tin of some rock sugar that Angry sells would have been awesome too. :D This is an awesome holiday type blend. I have had it from another tea company before but it’s a nice tea to revisit. The honey is accurate as there is a lovely honey-like flavor permeating throughout the cup. There wasn’t much on the nuttiness, though I did have at least one almond slice and pistachio in my infuser. I was surprised to see coconut and chrysanthemum on the ingredient list as they don’t come into play here at all. The honey black tea combo is fantastic though. Overall it’s a unique cup of tea that I’m happy to have found in the Advent calendar.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 16 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep
Day #14 is full of apples and spices and deliciousness. Yum. This is an APPLE chai with equal parts apple and spiciness. It’s a great chai. The second steep was even spicier. I love a spicy cup and an appley cup when it actually says it’s apple. It is what it says it is! It’s a great one to be sipping when I know the weather will start getting brisk in the next couple of days. sigh. But a good cup of tea always helps.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons // 10 minutes after boiling // 3-4 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep
Day #13! Basically any vanilla tea that I would want to stock up on MUST have vanilla pieces in the blend, and I don’t think this one does. It’s another one with a Ceylon base, and the barely there vanilla flavor doesn’t make this blend anything special… Also, I might be getting hints of mint from some sort of flavor contamination in the Advent Calendar? I can’t see how as all of the teas are in tins. Luckily there are plenty of better teas at Angry Tea Room.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons // 10 minutes after boiling // 3-4 minute steep
additional notes: I will miss this tea. It seems like less shops sell this blend now — I just saw Davids Tea has their Forever Nuts… but does anyone else sell this blend anymore? It’s forever for me… I will never get tired of an occasional cup of this unique blend. Note: it can NOT be the similar blend with the rose hips! No no no.

Day#12 is that ubiquitous blend found at many tea companies but DELICIOUS herbal blend that I love so much. I had an inkling that it was my favorite blend as soon as I saw the description. That sweet, appley, nutty blend with beetroot that results in a pink cup of tea. It’s the same as David’s Forever Nuts for example. I have small amounts of three versions of this tea in my cupboard right now. Many other companies sell it too (but hint: it’s probably cheaper from Angry Tea Room!) It’s probably my second favorite no-caff blend that I’ve ever tried and I’m very happy that so many companies carry it so that I never run out.
Steep #1 // 2 teaspoons for full mug // just boiled // 14 minute steep
Additional notes: From the advent. The flavor is holding up very well and I end up enjoying it more than I think I will when I’m pouring that teaspoon into the infuser. Pomegranate, raspberry and lychee is an interesting combination and works very well together, at least in this tea, especially with this particular black base… even the bits of hibiscus are acceptable! Raising the rating from a 72.
Hibiscus is actually used well in the tea for Day #11. There were only two pieces of hibiscus in the teaspoon and a half I added to the infuser that enhances this black tea full of ruby fruits. I saw a half raspberry along with the pomegranates and tons of lychee flavor here. This IS a winning combination like the description says. The hibiscus adds a little extra to the flavor and isn’t overbearing. This is definitely a lychee tea with hints of raspberry. The black tea base seems Ceylon like, which always showcases fruity flavors. A great blend resulting in a delicious brew! It’s a good thing though, that I sipped this tea BEFORE I ate some fresh raspberries on brownies. Can’t beat fresh raspberries and chocolate.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 16 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep
Day #10 is another hibiscus heavy herbal (only two so far though). It really shouldn’t have this much hibiscus. Or I really shouldn’t be using two teaspoons. I wouldn’t mind hibiscus if it just wasn’t this MUCH. Maybe I should try adding rock sugar to these kinds of teas? It’s a really gorgeous blend to look at as a dry leaf — shades of burgundy with the big cranberry pieces. And since there was cranberry, another reason for the hibiscus to be lessened a little. I could taste a little cranberry and fruit flavor from the other elements…. but mostly hibiscus. Anyway, the hibiscus isn’t as bad as it could be.
Steep #1 // 2 teaspoons // couple minutes after boiling // 5 minute steep
my label says Toffee Chocolate Hazelnut" but i think it’s the same as Crunch.
i ordered it as part of the cookie sampler, and that’s the name of the tea included in the cookie sampler online.
my first sample from this company.
i’m not sure i steeped it long enough but it’s probably not very strong either way.
a good tea for 11:30 at night i suppose! i guess that’s all i have to say about this tea at the moment. not bad, but not a ton of personality yet. a tea can change after you drink it a few times though, so don’t commit this to memory.
today oddree and I went to see the opera Lâ Amour de Loin at the fancy movie theater. they broadcast it live from NYC. it was sublime. full of themes of aloneness (not to be mistaken for only lonely) and independence and conflict that is an innate part of the human experience.
then we walked through the outdoor mall, the brass trio played Carol of the Bells, and oddee bought me a gift of fancy soap and fancy make-up.
it was a good day.
the box i got from Angry Tea Room was missing a sample i ordered, but that’s okay. it was just a sample. and i still have 9 to try which is plenty. so it’s all good.
additional notes: From the advent. I always forget how perfectly lemony this is. I wonder if it has an Adagio counterpart. I’m glad it was included in the advent, anyway!

A refreshing brew for day #9!! I love lemon tasting green teas and this is delicious. I love the fruity lemon on the earthy green tea base. The many flowers look gorgeous. Plenty of lemon! I wish the Cinnamon Orange spice the other day had this much citrus flavor. Not much else to say but a lovely blend. Both steeps were tasty.

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – December Theme: Holiday Teason Tea #12
additional notes: Forgot to post this yesterday! A sipdown. One I will miss from this advent box. A great example of cinnamon orange tea. I was craving gooey cinnamon rolls yesterday morning (or every morning?), so I’m glad the tea for today was able to fit that craving a little bit. This really seemed to fade over time though!

Cinnamon rolls to start the day is such a winning start! We have a wonderful vegan bakery nearby that makes amazing cinnamon rolls and we sometimes will treat ourselves to them for breakfast.
Additional notes: I wonder which Adagio tea this is. I would buy it. It fits the CINNAMON ORANGE SPICE profile if you’re looking for that to stock up on. This one is perfect. It has just the right amount of rock sugar sweetness, orange and cinnamon. It’s aging well. Next time sipdown. I made a list of holiday teas and I have way too many peppermint/candy cane types!!!
Actually, Angry Tea Room had another blend VERY similar called “Christmas” which isn’t as good as this one.. so I wonder if that one is the teaguys.
Additional notes: I’m enjoying this favorite from the Advent Calendar today. Another sad tea where I’m the only one who wrote a tasting note. It’s still available from Angrytearoom.com! I think it’s a classic Cinnamon Orange Spice tea but it goes the extra mile with the ingredients (carrots and rose petals especially). I hope it’s included for those of you who bought this year’s Advent. I’d definitely buy this in a future order. Raising the rating from 83.
Day#8 is an interesting take on the Cinnamon Orange blends you often see around the holidays…. there are carrots and rose petals in this one! I’m not sure why they’re in the blend but they don’t hurt. There are also sugar crystals to make the cinnamon (and the blend overall) extra delicious. In this medium strength black tea brew, I taste plenty of sweet cinnamon with hints of carrot only at the top of cup. I wouldn’t mind more orange, as I’m not tasting it much, even if the flavor was added to the black tea itself. I’d also love a darker tea. Maybe I could add a half teaspoon of a CTC or something. A treat for this time of year! I like it.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 12 minutes after boiling // 3-4 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep
Day #7 – This is a lovely relief from that apple tea yesterday. A simple, delicious milk oolong. I used one teaspoon because this oolong is tightly bundled. Resulted in three perfect brews with a lovely milky, buttery flavor in this bright yellow cup. A solid, shining example of milk oolong. I haven’t had a good one in a while! Reminds me how tasty they are.
Steep #1 // 1 teaspoon for a full mug// 10 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 3 minute steep
Steep #3 // just boiled // 3minute steep
Day #6 is a herbal so I’m drinking this late. Sadly, I’m not a fan as it tastes way too much like the nightmare that is David’s Apple Cider tea. And this one has hibiscus. A little hibiscus goes a LONNNG way. It’s probably my fault. I probably used too many leaves and steeped for too many minutes. I should have known what might happen though. But this is a harsh brew. Yikes. I’m not sure why this is called pear as it is mostly apple, hibiscus and pineapple. The cinnamon doesn’t even make an appearance. But I would have loved a true pear and cinnamon herbal blend. This one isn’t for me!
Steep #1 // 2 teaspoons for a full mug// couple minutes after boiling // 5+ minute steep
This sounds like it’d be a really good and interesting blend minus the stevia—so gross. I like that they included buckwheat, though!
Yeah, the stevia shouldn’t be there with all that sweet stuff.
But also, my teaspoons could have just had a higher amount of stevia than usual.
