Backlog:

Day 5 on my Tea Advent Calendar from Teanzo.

I really wish this didn’t have hibiscus in it. The tartness of the hibiscus almost overwhelms everything else in this blend. I taste mostly hibiscus. I taste more lemongrass than I do chamomile. I feel like the chamomile is nearly lost in this. I do pick up on notes of apple and a soft, honeyed taste that I attributed to the chamomile, but they’re difficult to pick out with the heavy taste of hibiscus.

For me, the redeeming factor of this blend is the lemongrass. It brightens things up a bit with it’s citrus-y note.

As I mentioned in my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/12/05/24-days-of-tea-holiday-countdown-day-5-from-teanzo-1856/ I do think that this blend would taste much better with some spices. Perhaps steep some mulling spices on the stovetop for a while and then add the tisane to steep for 4 – 5 minutes before straining it all off. (You don’t want to steep this longer than 5 minutes otherwise you’ll have more hibiscus than you want!)

drank Irish Breakfast by Teanzo 1856

Backlog:

This was my tea for the 4th day from the Teanzo Advent Calendar. This is a wonderful Irish Breakfast: bold, malty and rich. A very satisfying tea – the kind of tea that I want first thing in the morning.

Robust flavors. It starts out sweet with notes of caramel that mingle with the malty tones. Mid-sip, I pick up on a light bitter tone. It isn’t an unpleasant bitterness, I found the contrast to the sweeter notes to be quite welcome. Notes of fruit (dried plum and raisin), whispers of flower, and notes that remind me of freshly baked bread.

A very pleasant tea, indeed. Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/12/04/24-days-of-tea-holiday-countdown-day-4-from-teanzo-1856/

drank Darjeeling by Teanzo 1856

Teanzo advent calendar day 6:
Yay, a Darjeeling! the muscatel notes were the first thing to hit my nose and my tongue. the two infusions i made in my western-style teapot were even and smooth. They definitely satisfied my tea thirst for the day!
Fun fact: the 1856 in the company’s name was inspired by the year that the first Darjeeling estate opened up for business.

Teanzo Advent Calendar Day 5:
As a calming herbal blend, this did the trick. I don’t really care for hibiscus and I feel like this would be a better tisane without it. I couldn’t detect the lemongrass much. Also, I think hibiscus and chamomile should steep at different temperatures and lengths. It’s almost as off-putting as a green and black blend…
For me, this tea landed on a day where I need the least amount of relaxation. Unlike most, my week starts on Fridays (Curse the restaurant industry!) and I definitely don’t need help sleeping, so I wouldn’t normally drink chamomile. It works a little bit too well on me!
For me, the tea was a passable pass.

I am a sucker for Irish Breakfasts. This tea is no exception. Day 4 of Teanzo’s AC and I have not lost interest. This is one of their ‘new’ teas that they are unveiling through their holiday countdown calendar. it’s very good, with all the right notes, and no ‘dusty’ quality I have found in lesser breakfast teas. Classically bold a robust, it complements the cold weather I am experiencing today!

drank Safari by Teanzo 1856
4843 tasting notes

The tea from Day 3 of the Teanzo Advent Calendar. The rooibos leaves seem to be very finely chopped – even smaller than “usual” and some of the tiny leaf particles slipped through my basket infuser of my Kati Tumbler which has a very fine mesh so if you typically use an infuser basket, I’d recommend swapping that out for the T-Sac type of DIY tea bags that Teanzo includes with this calendar to keep any rooibos leaves from straying.

This is a tasty rooibos blend. The sweet notes of the rooibos as well as the nutty flavors marry nicely with the citrus notes. It’s not overly flavored and usually I do like a strong flavoring in my rooibos blends because I’m not crazy about the flavor of rooibos but the natural flavors of the rooibos work well with the citrus flavors in this blend.

(Steepster ate my reply, so I hope this is not a repeat!) I noticed that as well! The rooibos leaves did seem abnormally small. I found myself resorting to a coffee filter in addition to my French press, which usually does it’s job well.

This is Day three of Teanzo’s Advent Calendar!
I really enjoyed drinking this tea. I love the combination of raspberry and lemons. Pink Lemonade anyone? I drank this hot, and I wished that I had tried it iced. I think the juicy aspect of the raspberry and the lemons would have played better. It had my mouth watering and was pretty satisfying. My favorite thus far!

I didn’t get a lot of raspberry with this. I tasted mostly rooibos and citrus.

drank Jasmine Green by Teanzo 1856

It’s Day 2 on the Advent Calendar from Teanzo, and this is today’s tea. I love a good Jasmine tea and this one is a really pleasing, scented jasmine green. It has a nice balance between sweet, exotic jasmine notes and fresh green tea flavor with light buttery notes.

Really nice. Here’s my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/12/02/24-days-of-tea-holiday-countdown-day-2-from-teanzo-1856/

Day 2 of Teanzo 1856’s Tea Advent Calendar!
I don’t know if I ought to be adding new tasting notes to the advent calendar’s tea page, or adding a new tea to the Company’s actual page… eh, I think it may be to late.
This is a very basic classically flavored green tea. The jasmine is very delicate in the palate. It was a good, satisfying green tea, albeit a forgetful one. Now bring on day 3!
P.s. I forget I have a tea brewing app on my phone, but hey, I remembered to use it today!

My very first tea-themed advent calendar!
This is day one of Teanzo’s countdown to Christmas, and I think we are off to a good start. I don’t know what is so winter about adding vanilla and some corn flowers to earl grey, but this is a nice tea nonetheless. I couldn’t smell to much vanilla on the dry leaf, but when I made the infusion, I noticed the vanilla flavored began to unfold. This particular Earl Grey reminds me a lot of Red Leaf Tea’s puer earl grey, but with a tad more bergamot than I would like. All in all, this tea makes me excited for the days to come!

drank Winter Earl Grey by Teanzo 1856
4843 tasting notes

Every year for a few years now, I’ve made it a tradition to do a countdown to Christmas with tea. I did a couple of years of 52Teas countdowns, but since I subscribe to 52Teas, I realized that I didn’t need to receive samples of these teas that I’ve already tried. I did a couple of years of Della Terra Teas, and this year I wanted to change it up a little bit so this year, I’m doing the countdown to Christmas with an Advent calendar from Teanzo!

I loved the packaging of the Teanzo Advent Calendar: a festive, bright red box filled with 24 samples of tea. The samples come in foil lined pouches that are coppery colored. They aren’t “secret” the way that the other 12 Days of Christmas samplers that I’ve had in the past are, but that’s OK. While the secret element is a fun, what I enjoy most is being able to enjoy a different tea every day.

Their new “Winter Earl Grey” tea is the first tea of the countdown, and this is an Earl Grey Creme with a festive name. Let me restate: this is a REALLY GOOD Earl Grey Creme with a festive name. Not all Earl Grey Cremes are good – this one is. A bright, strong bergamot, smooth, sweet vanilla tones and a satisfying black tea base.

drank White Montage by Teanzo 1856
4843 tasting notes

I am amazed at how much flavor I got out of such a tiny sample! Of course, I didn’t brew it the way I normally would (using my Breville), instead, I used a T-Sac and half a cup of water. Regardless, I’m glad to be able to try it, because it’s really very good.

A strong floral essence, I definitely taste rose. The other floral flavors have pretty much assimilated into the rose essence to make it a flowery rose taste. I can taste a nutty flavor in there too, maybe almond? It could also be a nutty flavor from the white tea. The fruit is more difficult to discern, it tastes tropical. Papaya, or possibly mango. It has a mixed tropical fruit kind of taste to it. I can also taste a hint of apple in the distance. I think I even taste a hint of spice, especially in the aftertaste.

It is difficult to pick out the individual notes here, because everything is so jumbled … but in a very good way. It’s really quite delicious. I can also taste the white tea here, and with so many other flavors going on, I have to say that is a big plus!

I received a sample of this one – which was much appreciated – but it was barely enough for a cup…regardless I’m overjoyed I got to try it!

Everything about this was mellow…the fruit, the floral, the nuts, the white tea…everything! Honestly I didn’t even know it had nuts in it until I saw it in the description. It’s a bit juicy and the flowers and fruity are even-steven to create a flavor all of it’s own. there really isn’t a specific/individual ingredient that is identifiable, tho.

This tastes fine. I wish it were stronger, tho. It is pleasant and has potential.

LiberTEAS

Yes, I think that is what has kept me from trying it, is that I can’t steep it as I normally would (aka Breville) so, I’ve been putting it off until I feel like getting out one of my smaller tea pots to brew it in. Perhaps I shall do that this week.

This smells like a gentle Earl Grey with a good deal of almond – very nice! It’s like EG and cookies almost! It tastes like EG and the almond is bold and beautiful! It’s sweet and semi-crusty. It’s a gentler Earl but the Almond is a great addition! I’m a fan of this London Fog! This is delish! I can see myself sipping on this often! Too bad I only had enough for a cups-worth

Oh! WOW!!!
I totally agree with LiberTEAs that the Black Tea and Rooibos Flavors are both “distant” but in a case like this I think it works really well! It makes me think “on a distant island” – hence the “distant” connection, perhaps!

Anyhow…

I am really liking this tea…darn, shall I say LOVE?

I can certainly taste the coconut, cocoa nibs, and vanilla first and foremost. I can taste that hint of apple which is very nicely done and is gentle yet contributing to the overall flavor of this tea!

There is a slight bready taste to this as well as a bit of a spice or pepper when you fist sip but that quickly fades away.

Ahhhh! yeah…the name of this tea certainly goes with the experience. YUM!

This is pretty tasty. The black tea and rooibos are a bit distant, but they are there. The chocolate and coconut are pretty evenly matched, and the vanilla compliments the blend very nicely.

Yummy.

drank Bon Matin by Teanzo 1856

Wow! This is … Ceylon? Really? This is the most surprising Ceylon I think I’ve Ever encountered.

First off, the leaves are HUGE! They are twisted and unfurl very slowly. (I’m on my second infusion of these leaves now… and the second is even better than the first). It’s a smooth, sweet Ceylon with hints of fruit notes in the background. This second infusion becomes even smoother and sweeter than the first.

Remarkable. Incredibly satisfying. TRY this Ceylon!

VERY larges leaves! My first thoughts…

I received a small sample of this from Teanzo and I am so happy as this is my very first Teanzo tea that I have ever tried!

A few more of my thoughts on this tea…

It doesn’t have a strong aroma – somewhat plain – black tea with a “warm” smell. It infuses to a medium brown.

The taste is medium strength for a black as well. It’s slightly malty but well rounded – from start to finish. As it cools – I can pick up on a oh-so-subtle fruity flavor trying to hide underneath.

This is a very satisfying cuppa. A very fine Black Tea!

Two Earl Grey teas in one day! Yay!!!

This is a delightful spin on London Fog, with sweet, nutty almond flavor added to the blend. I really love the combination of flavors: bergamot, almond and vanilla. So good! The black tea base manages to hold its own here, and there is a good balance of flavors.

Yummy … I’m off to write a review for the SororiTea Sisters blog (it should publish in a couple of days!)
