We have roofers working on the house today (not the greatest timing, but we’re glad to be getting a new roof). It’s LOUD upstairs, so I moved my nest downstairs. Since I’m out of the bedroom, I’m feeling a bit more energetic, so I made a small pot of Brattle Street Blend. And now I’m thinking if I can fit a pot of something into the day each day, I might feel a bit more like myself (still sleep deprived, just a bit more with it). :)

I am home sick today. I didn’t feel too hot yesterday afternoon, and this morning it went into full-fledged cold mode. However, unlike yesterday I did have an overwhelming need for a cup of tea. Looking through the cupboard I didn’t have a lot of options that struck me as ideal, then I came across Brattle Street. This is my comfort tea. It’s perfect if it’s been a rough day or I’m not feeling great. So, that’s what I’ve settled into bed with. Let’s hope this thing passes quickly!

Feel better soon!

Hope you are much better tomorrow!!!

You probably don’t get to take any fun pharmaceuticals right now, either, do you? Take care.

Hope you’re feeling better quickly!

Thanks guys! I made it to the office today, so I’m on a good path.

You’re right, gmathis, no good pharmaceuticals for me!! Luckily, hot beverages seem to help. :)

Yesterday’s breakfast blend was so spot on that I made some of this today, in a pot that looks an awful lot like the one in the photo. And it was exactly what tea should be. I had a little plain, and a mug full with soymilk and agave nectar. With the snow falling outside, a few blankets, one of my kitties snuggled up next to me, and the laptop on my lap, I can’t imagine a better cuppa. Good stuff!

What a pleasant way to enjoy some tea.

Backlogging from Boston: I actually had a cup of this at the Tealuxe on Brattle Street! I thought I should consider something else, since I’m so familiar with this one. But I really like it and it seemed fitting to have it there, so I did. And it was totally the right choice.

I started the day with a cup of this to see if last night’s PG Tips really was like it or if I was remembering incorrectly. It’s surprisingly similar! This one still holds a special place in my heart, though, so I won’t be replacing it as my standard loose leaf black tea.

I ended up coming home early today; I’m feeling under the weather. When feeling bad, I like to have a reliably good cuppa, so I turned to Brattle Street. The thing worth noting this time, though, is that I sweetened it with a stick of agave nectar from Stash. (http://shopstashtea.com/200123.html) It’s less sweet than the typical agave I use, but very good. I’m putting a few of these in my bag, along with the teabags I carry, for if I need tea while I’m on the go!

JacquelineM

I’d like to hear more about the agave nectar! I’ve never used it before. Is it like honey in taste? Thanks!

laurenpressley

I adore it! It’s a lot like honey, in that it is a thick liquid with a similar color. It comes from the agave plant, though. (I started using it because it’s vegan.) I think it has less of a taste than honey does, so from the ones I’ve tried it’s more like the sweetness you get from sugar—just more sweetness for the same quantity of sweetener. It also has a lower glycemic index, so there’s much less of a sugar high if you’re worried about that type of thing. There’s a bunch of info in wikipedia about it, but also a comparative list at WholeFoods: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/guides/sweeteners.php I hope this helps!

TeaEqualsBliss

I LOVE Agave Nectar!!!!!

JacquelineM

Yes, that helps a lot! I am always looking for sweeteners with a lower glycemic index for my husband. He sometimes uses splenda but I’m so not a fan. No matter what they say, I don’t trust it. We experimented with stevia but didn’t like it. I’m going to try some agave nectar next time I get to the store!! I bet it will be great in Rooibos! Thanks again!!!

Grinnyguy

Get well soon!

Bethany

I loooove agave nectar; it tastes like burnt sugar to me, which is to say it tastes amazing.

laurenpressley

Thanks, @Grinnyguy!

Glad to know I’m not alone, @TeaEqualsBliss & @Bethany! :)

My favorite black tea. I think it’s mostly because it was one of the first loose leaf teas that I tried, though. (And the first I drank with any regularity.)

I have a trip to Boston coming up in January. It’s a work trip, but I’m going to make sure to take some time to get some new teas. I used the ratings/tasting notes here to form a list of five new-to-me teas I’d like to get from Tealuxe, and now I’m trying to investigate what other tea options are in town. If anyone knows of any worth checking out, please let me know!

So I have no idea if this is Brattle Street Blend, but I think it probably is. I turned up a small tin with no label when cleaning the cupboard, and found this inside. The leaves looked like Brattle Street, it smells like it, and tastes mighty close to it. So, even if it’s not, I’m logging it as Brattle Street. There’s just one more cup to go of this one, then back to the tin labeled properly.

Okay, life’s too short for tea that doesn’t make you happy, so I’m going with an old favorite (the one that converted me to loose leaf) with a standard steeping.

This was the first loose leaf tea I ever loved, and it’s still a favorite today. Had this morning without sugar.
