Tea #2 from my June 2018 Sips by Tea Box. Had to add this one to the database too, which is why it has no picture.

First steep is very robust. I steeped it much longer than I probably should have (got involved in something else and forgot about it for a few minutes). It’s a bit roasty and has a very deep flavour. No astringency or bitterness that I can pick up at all. Extremely smooth. Lingering malty-ish aftertaste. There’s something there I can’t quite identify but it’s nice.

Going to steep this for the rest of the work day. The recommendation is 4-5 times so I think these leaves have a lot of life left in them. The packaging leaves something to be desired though, with no way to re-seal after opening.

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of these pearls. I do love pearls. This is a really fine offering.

I love that it’s organic. I love the sweet scent and flavor of the jasmine. Here’s my full-length review of this lovely jasmine pearl tea: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/04/22/organic-jasmine-pearl-scented-green-tea-from-teahouse-kuan-yin/

I have to agree with TeaEqualsBliss (who sent me some of this tea – thanks!) … this does smell like buttered squash. It’s really a mouthwatering smell. It’s been a while since I’ve roasted a squash and the smell of this and my taste buds reaction to the scent is telling me I’d better add a winter squash to the grocery list.

The flavor is delightfully complex. I taste buttery, creamy notes, hints of butternut squash and roasted chestnuts. Sweet floral notes – orchid? Perhaps … A very light astringency to this one, it leaves the palate feeling clean and invigorated. But mostly what I taste with this tea is the buttery tones. It’s a sweet … almost browned butter kind of taste. Savory yet sweet and very yummy.

A really good Oolong.

I purchased a few ounces of this from Tea House Kuan Yin and it is really good. Their note about the brewing temperature is worth paying attention to. I have been brewing at 180º for two minute and it has been coming out great. The flavor and aroma is excellent, just as stated above.

The one pot of assam wasn’t enough for this sleepy grad student, so I ordered a jin xuan – the “nantou dawn”. The first steep was UNBELIEVABLE – it was so sweet and buttery. After I deplete my home stash of various milky oolong, I’m totally stocking up on this as my at-home-jin-xuan.

I headed to Teahouse Kuan Yin to get some studying done. I started my study session with a pot of this assam that caught my eye because it was on the limited edition teas list. It was recommended to be taken without milk, but I need a bit of whole milk with my afternoon black tea. There wasn’t anything that really stood out to me compared to other assams that I have had, but it did help me get over my afternoon slump.

A nice, solid Jasmine Pearl – and it’s ORGANIC! YAY! AND…it doesn’t leave a funky aftertaste! It’s highly scented, too!

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending this my way!

I recently learned that Teahouse Kuan Yin is in Seattle – I think I may just have to go there and check them out someday soon!

This is very lovely. A very nice buttery flavor to it. Smooth and rich. SWEET! Oh-so-pleasant.

I’m just going to sit here and not say anything more… it might ruin the moment!

Bi Luo Chun certainly caught me off guard the first time I drank it because the flavor was so distinct and powerful; it is not something you expect from a light color green tea.

This one is another sample from TeaEqualsBliss (which I keep typing as TeaEqualsBills – a subconscious adjustment perhaps?) The scent is a lot like Rishi’s Jade Cloud and there’s a lot of similarity in the taste, too. But this is smoother and has a much prettier taste. There’s something sort of expansive about the taste – it feels very full and relaxing. Chinese greens aren’t really my favorite type of tea but this one is very tasty!

lol!! I like that! “TeaEqualsBills” exactly!

Tea certainly clocks in as the most expensive part of my food bills, at least. _;

Pale but pleasant.

Smells a little like raw/fresh Cucumbers and Raw/Fresh Green Peppers…bit just a little.

Tastes like your average Silver Needle. Pretty Good.

Sweet, buttery, and nutty! This is super yummy!
I can totally see why this one is labeled “Competition” grade!

Just realized I haven’t sent this one to Liberteas yet either! Eeeeeek! Well, it’s officially going into your next box! But I have to have one small cup before doing so :)

LOL Dong Ding is a hard one to part with! Thus far my favorite Oolong.

Plain and simple? This smells JUST LIKE buttered Summer Squash. YUM. I can smell a very little bit of floral note underneath as well.

The color isn’t very surprising or out of the ordinary…it’s a typical looking oolong.

The taste is quite flavorful. And you get the taste right away! You don’t have to wait for it like some oolongs. It’s very food-like…veggies…buttery…a hint of peppery-nuttiness.

I haven’t tasted many – if any – oolong quite like this. I like it! It’s GOOD to be different!
