Bah, just not feeling this tonight. Made a huge cup of it, and it’s okay…. chocolately yes, just a bit weak still with zero spice, and too much woodsy rooibos.

A tea billed as spicy chocolate should be spicy, right? I got little to no spice out of this, however it was a hearty chocolate brew, thanks to the chicory in it, I’m sure.

Flavors: Chocolate

Maudit!

Had some of this yesterday, and it was quite lovely – more lemon than tart, yet still a refreshing, bolder blend.

I liked this much better cooled than hot; it was just mediocre hot, with a mild lemon flavor. Cold however, it was a sweet, creamy lemon tart-like concoction, and I immediately thought of Suziquer wondering if she’d like to try some for her iced tea experiments.

Preparation
2 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

Mmmm limon c’est tour ours parfait dans les boissons froides dans mon opinion.

Suziqzer

Hmm… I don’t know. Funny you think of me and citrus now.. :) Surely stretching me further! I could try it, but lemonade and iced tea were not a good mix for me as a kid. Maybe if the lemon is less citric acid like and more toward sweet/creamy… wish I could smell it :)

Cheri

Sounds nommy. :)

Just okay. I consider this a medicinal tea, and thus, it suits for those purposes. I can definitely taste the orange, fennel and herb-like stuffola in here.

I mistakenly grabbed this tonight thinking it was something else. Had it anyway, even though it’s really just an apple tea with a touch of cinnamon and herbals way in the background. Less palatable as it cools, although more… satisfying, knowing it’s an herbal, and potentially helping me feel better.

Had this last night, before bed. It’s an interesting tea, and I wish I knew what was in it. Took a bite out of what looked to be dried apples, and I (think?) they were indeed apples. Tasted more like really chewy marzipan though. Unfortunately I’m forgetting most of what this tasted like, other than it surprised me.

drank Kashmir Chai by Pekoe Tea Lounge
1500 tasting notes

Still one of my favorite chai teas, likely because of the green tea base, and well, the spices kinda rock. It’s not as good as say, the Kashmire Chai in Edmonton (that you can only buy there), or even Chandernagor (MF), but it’s still my go-to. I’m a touch surprised I have any left.

Flavors: Cardamom

Preparation
185 °F / 85 °C 4 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

Where in Edmonton do you get the exclusive Chai that you mention?

Smooth, creamy, and a touch spicy. This doesn’t work at a higher temperature, and I do prefer it hot vs. cold. Grabbed a bigger tin of it the last time I was in the area, and so glad I did!

A sad sipdown, although this is tasting less amazing than I remember it. I did have to underleaf a bit because I had too little left. Maybe it’s because when I think Kashmir tea now, I think of that amazeballs concoction in Edmonton… no chai will ever compare. Seriously.

Preparation

Oh no. I am sorry to hear this sipdown was less enjoyable than past cups.

Bah. Images not working. I do have a lovely picture, and will add it when I can. So, this is a green chai, which intrigued me enough to get a sample from the owner of Pekoe Tea Lounge. I must say, it’s a delicious blend — however I do think there is some black tea in here as well, or at least something granular that looks like black tea. It’s sweet and earthy in a chai-like way, with all of the requisite spices in there… cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper. I wish I’d grabbed more!

Preparation

You do love your chai! :)

Suziqzer

I’ve noticed several of your notes from this place so I Googled them. Looks like a nice place for tea and pie! & lots of choices… That would be the hardest part. But Yum!

Too much apple for me! I think I was expecting something different… plus a huge whallop of caffeine in this one… I’m actually shaking.

Hm. As a straight tea (steeped in water) this is just okay. If anything, a touch bitter. I may need to try it again ASAP as a proper chai just to see if I want more or not.

What do you mean when you say “as a proper chai”? =)

MissB

Oh, I just mean steeping it in milk/cream instead of water, with some sweetener, instead of steeping it in water straight like I did.

Weirdly a bit drying tonight, and I wish there was more spice. Still pleasant, although frankly, my head hurts so much that almost anything would taste good. :$

Steeped for more than 10 minutes in cream, this is lovely with Zero astringent anything. None of the flavors popped up to hit me in the face, everything just mellowed into a lovely brew that I’m sure I’ll be drinking often

Hm. Much better cooled than hot. The whiskey flavor comes out more, although it did get slightly bitter cooled. Hot, it was just a plain black Tea. Still nice, although I think I prefer O’Connor ’s Cream.

I want a melty, rich, decadent truffle with my chocolate tea, thanks. This ain’t it, sadly.

Definitely chocolate, stored well, a bit of paper flavoring in there somehow, and just.. too weak for me to fall in love with. Makes me want to go find some MF Mousse au Chocolat.

Bah. I can’t upload images from my phone! I took a great one for this Tea.

Went into Pekoe Tea Lounge today because my fancy phone told me it was nearby. Talked to the owner about where he gets his Tea from… now I know but they’re different names and several companies. Easier if I post this way then, right?

pretty Sure I under leafed this, will have to try again at home. Definitely chocolate, just a but weak and got a touch bitter as it cooled.

2 min steep, No idea temperature

1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Pekoe as in the one at Laurel and Broadway?

MissB

Yes ma’am! Was an interesting experience. Will share more when on my computer again.

OMGsrsly

It used to be a Steeps, and I know they carry a LOT of Steeps tea. The setup hasn’t changed in years. Look forward to hearing more!

drank Apricot by Pekoe Tea Lounge
871 tasting notes

I stumbled on Pekoe Tea Lounge as I was walking down the street. I had this one in house. I have been SEARCHING forever for a great tasting, not too artificial or chemical tasting apricot tea. This one smelled so good. Like sweet, dried but juicy, apricots. I ordered a large French press. I am unsure how long it steeped for but I am guessing between 3-5 min before I pressed the plunger down. It tasted like a medium bold black tea with a nice apricot flavour. It is slightly artificial but still quite delicious. There is a very slight sweetness. Very similar to fresh, dried apricots. The tea got astringent towards the end of the French press but I am not surprised as it would have been sitting for about an hour.

Sil

Have you tried tangier by American tea room?

Lala

No I haven’t. I will have to check it out.

Sil

i double checked but the last of the sample i picked up has left my house or i’d have sent it your way

This one is OK. I don’t think I care for the Ceylon-heavy base tea, but I do like the flavours. It’s almost more peach than strawberry, even though it does smell quite strongly of strawberry.

This is another one I think would be better iced – either cold steep or flash chilled.

The apple flavour is kind of sour (like a Granny Smith) and sadly doesn’t smell very good. The spices are nice enough, but I’m not too excited about them.

From reading, it’s difficult to find a nice apple tea.

This one unfortunately isn’t for me.

Meh. A 3 minute steep and the base is turning bitter. I’ll have to try a cold steep, because it smells AMAZING.

JustJames

now that’s an idea… i have some awesome smelling blends from steap shoppe that just don’t work for me hot.

OMGsrsly

Weirdly it mellowed out after sitting on my desk for an hour. So it could be good flash-chilled too. I might add a shake of cinnamon to it. :)
