Martin Advent Day 20
The berry goes with the black tea pretty well. It’s well-balanced between the tea and the berry. The black tea is on the lighter side, which works well for this flavor profile. The berry part tastes almost like fresh blackberries? I’d enjoy if they amped that flavor way up. This blend isn’t too exciting, but it’s not trying to be.

Martin Bednář

What?! Where is the pineapple I noticed. Where are cherries…
I never noticed blackberies here.

AJRimmer

I don’t know! I’m bad at deciphering what I’m tasting, so I’m probably just incorrect, but that’s what it seemed like to me before looking anything up about the tea.

Martin Bednář

Well, I am not good in that as well, I am pretending I get the tastes :D. It’s always better to check it after the session, not before :)

Martin Advent Day 14
This flavor is nice and gentle. A very light herbal cinnamon, with maybe some fruitiness. A very easy to drink tea. I didn’t pay enough attention to realize this was black tea, but I couldn’t taste it at all. I really thought it tasted herbal! Mild grocery store quality, but I really did like it.

Martin Bednář

Well, I think there is that little of actual tea so it is caffeine-low :D

Martin Advent Day 7
The flavor here is lightly fruity and mild. I probably oversteeped it, but it’s super forgiving and not bitter at all. I enjoyed it hot and also chilled. The lemon is very light, but it’s not a bad blend.

Martin Bednář

Yep, pretty simple and tasty blend. Actually best from them I tried.

Thanks for putting together these teas for me! It’s going to be a fun month! This is not the sort of tea I’d choose for myself, but I’m glad I was forced to try it! It’s pretty mild and fruity. Maybe lightly peachy? It tastes good – I’d totally love a green rooibos version with this flavor profile!

Martin Bednář

I know it wasn’t really a good starting tea, as you don’t like much caffeined-teas, but I quite liked the name for the first tea! I can imagine a rooibos base instead as well!

AJRimmer

I definitely enjoyed the flavor, so not a bad choice at all!

Martin Bednář

Glad to hear that. I wasn’t sure if this is a good start :D Hopefully the others would be better for you :)

For some reason when I hit their website, it offers me install of Wordpress. So I instead used the tea bag picture. Unfortunately no more info, or at least selling lines of it.

It is green tea with light flavours as peach, raspberry nad jasmine. I was afraid it will dominate the flavours, but it was actually very different.

We had family gathering a bit, so we were all sitting in my grandma’ living room ’(9 adults, 2 children <1 year old) But I was happy to see everybody. Maybe this is actually the number I am able to survive.

Anyway, to the tea. As grandma does not have temperature controlled kettle (not even I, but I know on stove-top one, what is the temperature); I just thought that when bubbles start to appear, it will be around 80°C, but I am not of course sure. So, not adding it to tasting note. Brew was very light, it doesn’t want to brew at all, but managed to keep it in for those 2-3 minutes, but I thought it will be quite light. And it was, but I noticed floral notes – jasmine as well rose, then some fruits, but rather apples than peach or raspberry. That was bit sad to be honest, as I hoped for fresh and juicy raspberry. Maybe it just need longer steeping time. The tea itself wasn’t much present as well, and if it was, it was rather hay like, certainly it doesn’t felt like a fresh green tea. I need to buy some greens, as almost all of them are actually some blends, or just not so fresh as I would like to drink.

Flavors: Floral, Hay, Jasmine, Rose

How I wish I had had grandparents in my life! Enjoy yours to the fullest!

Martin Bednář

Thank you ashmanra. Actually, I have only this grandma left. I never met her husband (and my grandpa) as they get divorced quite fast and she never wanted another man in her household. He lived in the same town, so maybe I actually met him – but we don’t knew about each other. He died few years ago. And from fathers side, I miss those grandparents so much :/

ashmanra

I know it must have meant so much to her that you visited! I am glad you have each other. :)

Short steeping time – maybe 2 minutes at maximum.

Anyways, I see in the sachet everything that is on the photo, as well written on foil wrapping. In aroma of dry tea – I notice mostly lemongrass and maybe little bit of mint.

Used water of temperature of first bubbles, haven’t measured it today, but it used to be around 80°C.

And when brewed, it wasn’t so aromatic, but yeah, I notice lemon and lemongrass, as well again some spearmint. Sounds quite refreshing.

Well, in taste it is not so great, but certainly so far best from this company (and this collection) I had. It is okay green tea with some warmth by ginger. And then some lemon notes appear. Nothing too strong, but it’s there and, quite enjoyable. It is not sour at all!

SIPDOWN as I needed to “melt” a bit, as our cherry tree is cutted down and outside was only 1°C. It took four hours.

And this flavour reminds me… winter. It was a flavour always drank in cold, winter days. Maybe because it’s mild and cinnamon is cozy?

Anyway… again I am not that impressed of this tea. Steeped for 3 minutes and I get sweet apples somewhere in background, again mostly rosehip. Hibiscus not that much today. Cinnamon was present as a warming element through all the drinking. Wasn’t bad, but maybe too much on sweet side?

This brand is one big dismal.

Another tea with cinnamon today and wasn’t so great either.

I brewed it with boiling water and steeped 3 minutes. Brews another copper colour + maybe bit similar as on the picture. Brown, copper maybe. It turned out indeed quite aromatic, indeed after cinnamon. Taste was mellow, quite okay, but tartness from apples? I do not think so, rather rosehips with hibiscus. Apples were rather on sweet side of spectrum, and not much presented in taste. Taste was bit warming, because of cinnamon; but nothing strong and “wow”.

What happens on New Year’s Day, should happen all the year. I hope it won’t be my case with tea.

gmathis

Does that mean I’m stuck with a mouse in my kitchen until next December?!? :)

Martin Bednář

Hehe, probably yes. But don’t worry, it is just weird Czech saying :D

gmathis

I am afraid there may be truth to it. THREE spoiled cats and not a one of ‘em with the gumption to take him down! (Or, in reverse, one gumptious mouse who doesn’t care that the house smells like three spoiled cats.)

Another chance (and pretty much random choice of flavoured blacks).

It is decent for sure, base tea is nice and aromas are pretty much cherry and pineapple, but flavour is lacking. It was slighly fruit and that’s all. The base dominates so much! Hints of florals now and then.

Life part: Still haven’t got any information about summer-job which is pretty much upsetting. Maybe I will do inventory checks even during summer? Argh! Maybe I will ask for first week in July for checking the premises for my Bachelor thesis. First week I have my nieces around so I need something “to do” — unless I want (I don’t at all) to spend time with them. Panic attack triggers.
Tomorrow I have exam from Algorithms and programming. It is maybe a month since I tried to write some program, so I am not really sure how much succesful I will be, moreover it really depends on the teacher as well and his mood. Time flies faster than I want (not only: to admit). It is two weeks-month since Covid started, right? :)

Nattie

Good luck with your exam, your job and your nieces! (:

Martin Bednář

Thank you Nattie :)

Martin Bednář

Well, everything went wrong today. So, no summer-job like last summers (so I will do inventory checks, hopefully). Exam failed. It wasn’t hard. It just didn’t suited me. Happens. I am just tired of everything and nieces comming isn’t helping much. Of course it all together triggered pretty much several panic attack. But it is okay now I guess.

Nattie

I’m sorry to hear that ): panic attacks are awful. Have you spoken to anyone at your school about them? They might be able to help you out.

Martin Bednář

I go to therapist every 3 months, so they are pretty much okay usually. I take escilopram and its side effects aren’t great, but it is not so addictive — one of the reasons, why he decided to prescribed them to me. Sucks though.

Nattie

It definitely sucks, I’ve been there. Are your school aware? Maybe you could get a doctor’s note for extra time in exams or something?

Martin Bednář

It is not in the list for reasons having extra time. But usually they just go away in the time of exam. I am having them usually day before (or generally time before exam). I think it is quite normal, unless it is too much altogether.

Nattie

Oh man, that’s a shame ): Well, you seem to be coping quite well with them at least. Just know that we are all hear to listen if you want to talk or just rant in your tasting notes. (:

Martin Bednář

Nattie, I am really trying to cope with it. But sometimes it is overwhelming. It is indeed bad now or then. Now it is Saturday, in Wednesday I have exam (last chance); tomorrow night I am working, in the afternoon of Sunday my nieces will come; moreover I am going to check premises of bachelor thesis Monday morning… (I will arrive around 6 am home, in 10 am I have to be in that store)

Enough!!! I feel so tired of everything, but summer just come and I will work nights after nights; pretty much meh but I need money. I need to rest badly after 5 years of study!

“Best brewed at 100° for 2-3 mins until a light cherry pink.”

Hm, no cherry pink. Classical black tea copper colour.
And taste? Although I kept the pyramid sachet in all the time, it was – medicore.

Yeah, it was black tea based on sip, with fruity notes. But pineapple, cherry (only flavouring), raspberry or blueberry? I can not notice single of them. It was just some weird mix all together. Maybe the pineapple was most present, but somehow artificial.

I would rate it later. I wonder what next 3 teas from this company will be. I hope they will be better (Lemon citrus, First Blush and Apple Cinnamon)
