Kevita

One of the things I always try to do when travelling is stop at local grocery stores and just see what different snacks and drinks they carry that can’t be found here in Montreal. Overall, I was a little disappointed the RTD selection wasn’t as robust as expected but I did find a few things to try. This was the only one I grabbed that was tea related though, but it was pretty solid! Definitely very tart, bright and fruity with a mix of sour kombucha vinegar and lemony pucker. The raspberry was a little bit more generic berry, but it complimented the lemon really well. Super refreshing and flavour packed overall!

One of my favorite kombucha flavors. The sweet acidity of the pineapple and the fragrant sweetness of the peach balance the fermented sour flavor of the kombucha. It’s punchy, fizzy, and summery. Kombucha isn’t for everyone, but Kevita is one of the more approachable brands for those who might be nervous about trying it.

Aww hell no!

I don’t really know how else other to say it other than this kombucha sucked ass. It weirdly had both the intense soapy and chemical/perfumey notes of lavender just SHOVED into the flavour but also this strange sourness that transcended past the normal sour/acidic note of kombucha. It was really gnarly, and not drinkable for me at all.

I don’t know what I expected – lavender and melon is such a strange combination of flavours in the first place. Maybe this would be ok if the melon was very strong and on the sweeter side, and the amount of lavender was cut in half or thirds.

Not ok as it stands though.

Sipped on this one all throughout the day. It was very good when it was still cold and crisp, but as it got warmer it got more and more vinegar like with less of the deep, sweet cherry notes to balance it. Meh.

Nabbed from the grocery store as something to drink after shopping during the walk home; you can just look at my other tasting note for this – the experience wasn’t really different. I just kind of wanted to note for myself that this was what I gravitated towards from my usual grocery store’s kombucha options; making it kind of the best option there!? In my opinion, anyway.

I made a late night grocery haul last weekend, for chips and watermelon, and I noticed this in the Kombucha section – it must be a new flavour because I’ve never seen it before in this grocery store or otherwise!?

It was good though! Definitely a tart/tangy cherry flavour, like a fizzy cherry juice. I mean, that’s kinda (when you simplify it) what it is anyway – so at least it’s accurate!? I don’t know, I actually really enjoyed this one. One of the better, more flavourful cherry kombuchas that I’ve had!

Saw this one at the grocery store and couldn’t remember if it was one of the flavours that I’ve tried from this brand before – but as soon as I opened it up and took a sip I immediately recognized it as something I’ve tried before. Sure enough Steepster confirms that…

Weirdly, unlike last time, I thought that the pineapple notes were much stronger this time around that the peach – and I found it to be very flavourful and sweet for a kombucha. In fact, on the whole, I’d say it’s something I enjoyed A LOT more this time than last. Huh; weird.

I think this company just had generic enough packaging/branding that the flavours don’t really jump out visually on the shelf and so it’s not as memorable on packaging alone if you’ve tried a flavour or not.

Saw this at the grocery store the other day and had to try it. I looked up the company just now to make the Steepster page for this tea, and I have to say that I think my grocery store chose literally the most boring flavour sold by this company though, and now I’m a little disappointed.

This still tasting good though; I think it’s more weighted towards the peach than the pineapple though and actually all in all it’s pretty mellow tasting. I expected some acidity punch, and… didn’t really get it? But I liked it! Peach and pineapple is a fun pairing; it makes sense to me even though I don’t think I’ve seen it a lot.

Now I just want to try the other kombucha sold by Kevita, though…
