Backlog:

I brewed this tea without reading the website prior to brewing … so I brewed it the way I would brew a black tea … without making accommodations for the green tea (a genmaicha). Fortunately, the boiling water did not produce a bitter tasting cup.

This is a deliciously chocolate-y tea. It lacks any real green tea notes to speak of. If I slurp the tea to aerate, I notice barely there hints, but really, they are very difficult to discern. Mostly what I taste is chocolate and black tea, and I’m not complaining about tasting a lot of chocolate!

Mid-cup, some of the toasty nut flavors of the genmaicha start to emerge and I like the way these meld with the chocolate notes and add depth to the cup. This is a really pleasant cuppa from Just Add Honey.

BACKLOG! I drank this yesterday.

This came in my LiberTEAS tasting box.

This is a really light tasty blend. The black tea is a lighter variety and I can taste the Ceylon and Darjeeling. The flavor is more like eating a peach and less like a peach pie. I find sometimes with fruit teas the flavors tend go to into the realm of pie / candy.

This is a light blend that was pleasant to drink over the course of an afternoon. The peach flavor is very subtle. This was a nice cuppa tea but not something I would stock regularly.

Oh yes, it is so much better now! My first attempt with this, as you might remember, was brewed thinking that this was a green and white teas blend, when it is actually a green teas and rooibos blend. A slightly higher temperature and shorter brew time made a big difference in what I taste now. I TASTE the genmaicha! and it is so YUM in this. The toasty genmaicha with the caramel tones is so warm and comforting.

I really like this … almost enough to forgive it for lying to me in the first place. But, I wish I didn’t waste that first pot, is all!

Either the packaging of this tea or the website is LYING to me. The package says that this is a green and white tea blend. The website says that this is a blend of green teas and rooibos. If it is a green and white blend, I would brew it at a low temperature for the white tea, at a slightly longer time. If it’s a green and rooibos blend, I would have kept it a little higher than I would for the white tea, and for a slightly shorter time. Since I had the package with me in the kitchen and was not looking at the website at the time that I was brewing, I went with the green and white tea brewing parameters, and that irritates me because this IS a green and rooibos blend.

So, I guess I am going to have to try again with this tea tomorrow or the next day before I write my full-length review on this tea. And it wasn’t nice to lie to me, it makes me grumpy.

How annoying! It drives me crazy when information is different in different locations (e.g. ingredient lists, brewing parameters, dates/times).

This is really quite good. The peach flavor comes through nicely without tasting too sweet. I don’t taste a heavy cinnamon and ginger taste which is what I expected after reading the ingredient list. These spices just seem to add an agreeable background flavor, enhancing the peach notes without overwhelming them.

The black tea is a satisfying blend of Ceylon and Darjeeling and this provides a light … even crisp sort of taste to the cup. It doesn’t taste heavy, and this is probably not the best choice for a breakfast tea, but would make a great afternoon tea or a delightful iced tea. The peach tastes light … and when I really focus in on the flavor I detect just a slight artificial quality to the peach … it doesn’t really seem apparent to me though unless I’m really trying to zoom in on the flavors to pick out all the various notes. Overall, a pleasant cup.
