This time I followed the water temperature recommendations for Gunpowder tea and the result was gratifying. The flavour was refreshing. Although not all the leaves unrolled, the tea had a good body and taste. However, I can’t avoid the feeling that something was missing in my cup to make it perfect.

This is the very first cup of lose leaf tea I’m having. As the name says it, it is magical. It is a good way to start. It is sweet and at the same time keeps the flavour of green and white tea, whereas the touch of lemon grass makes it feel fresh.

I love this tea. Citrus fruits and sencha go together perfectly, but this tea is something special. It’s the biscuity flavour that does it: it adds a lovely warmth to the smell and the taste of the tea. The inclusion of peppercorns and cardamom pods (real favourites of mine in flavoured teas) helps a lot in this regard, and means the subtle spicy tone hangs on through multiple infusions – I usually get three or four out of this tea.
