Having a tall iced glass of this. YUM! The strawberry is especially prominent this go around, scrumptious.

I won a contest on Della Terra’s Facebook page for a free sample of tea of my choosing (I went with S’mores) and 2 other samples: this was one of them! It doesn’t seem to be one of their more popular blends, probably because it’s on the pricey side. I was excited to try it though, since mango + rose petals is a combo I love. As a side note, their site says rosehips are an ingredient while my bag says rose petals. I looked through my tea and saw a lot of petals but no rosehips.

I have a few fruity-floral blends already, so my hopes for this weren’t that high. I mean, I wanted it to be good, but I wasn’t expecting to be blown out of the water. Boy was I wrong! This stuff is DELICIOUS. The strawberry is so juicy and fresh, and balanced perfectly with the mango. They’re two fruits I never thought of really going together, but they work so well here! I was amazed at how good the strawberry was, not at all artificial. The rose backs up the fruity flavors perfectly, for that hint of floral undertone that I just love in iced tea.

The most interesting aspect of this blend is definitely the pu-erh. It adds an earthy, smokey undertone that keeps this from being just a nice fruity/floral blend and really elevates it. The cute little faux pearls also aren’t for show: they melted pretty quickly into my cup during a short 4-hour cold brew and added a lovely sweetness. This tea is fruity, floral, earthy, and sweet: so perfect for an iced tea! They have a spend $25 get 2 free ounces of tea promo going on, and I am REALLY tempted to pick up some sampler packs and some more S’mores just to get my hands on more of this tea.

Azzrian

I am going to try this next! I have a sample here myself and it smells AMAZING!

Alphakitty

It is so delicious! Good enough that I placed an order already and I’m not even done with my first cup.

Still working on this sampler from the 10 dollar try me packs I purchased.
This has become my morning “go to” tea for those days when I don’t have time to steep a more delicate brew.
This is hardy, when I am half asleep still and hurrying around to get ready to take my daughter to work or run errands it is a no skills needed steep!
Even if I forget and over steep it – its always good – no excellent that is.
Such lovely flavors and can handle my blurred morning mind!
:)
Will absolutely re order this once my sampler is gone!

Meowkattack

Had my eye on this one but was wary of just another mango flavor tea. Good to know it’s rated highly.

Azzrian

Its really nice. The mango is not bitter and fuzes with the peach perfectly!

KeenTeaThyme

oooh, sounds yummy! :) :)

Oh my oh my what can I say - a new love has been found!

It is amazing iced. :)

I won this tea on Della Terra’s Facebook page along with two others, they are so generous with contests! I like being able to try small portions of teas before I commit to larger sizes, which is probably why my samples are very close to outnumbering my actual teas… I may have a serious problem!

This tea smells AMAZING in the bag. Marshmallow, chocolate, and even a whiff of graham cracker! I could sniff it all day long, just walk around with my nose in the bag. But tea is for drinking after all, so I reluctantly pulled away from it to brew up a cup. As I suspected, the flavor isn’t as POW as the smell, which I think happens a lot with teas. The black base is actually the strongest flavor, it’s quite brisk and malty. Next comes a soft creaminess with a distinct marshmallow flavor, not surprising since there are actual mini marshmallows in it! The chocolate is also strong, though it’s a very milky chocolate—like a Hershey’s bar, which is fitting since this is s’mores. However, I really love dark chocolate so I was kind of hoping for a bit more depth. Then again, that wouldn’t really be “s’mores” would it? The one thing missing for me is the graham cracker—I get a bit of cinnamon, but not that toasty flavor I expected.

This is definitely a boldly dessert-y tea, with no qualms about what it is. Creamy, sticky-sweet, milky, bordering on the edge of cloying without stepping over it. It’s pretty heavy for an everyday tea, but as an occasional treat I can definitely get behind it!

Hm. I think I will need more than one try of this to get a full, fair review. First impression upon smelling the dry tea is “Wow- this is really coconutty!” Next impression as I scoop tea out of the bag is “Hm. Is there any tea in here or just coconut?”

So I shook the bag up, and even poured it all out to see if maybe it just settled oddly during shipping. No, while there is indeed tea in there, it’s about a 50/50 mix with coconut flakes. Guess that should make for a really coconutty tasting brew!

Well, steeped it is a cloudy, milky white, which isn’t appealing to me. It isn’t bad. I can taste vanilla & coconut without a doubt but black tea? Not really. It is sweetish, like I would expect coconut to be. Definitely in the dessert tea category.

I want to revisit this with maybe a bit of cream added. I’m still not sure I’m going to call it a tea. Maybe if I throw some plain old black tea in with this blend it will be more tea-like :) I don’t regret trying this but I don’t think I will get it again.

Wow. Iced, this is different beast all together. I threw the other half of my sample in a pitcher to cold brew for a day or so and I am NOT disappointed. It is crazy in your face strawberry kiwi flavour with no tartness at all (though it is red from the hibby!) It’s like a delicious and sweet strawberry kiwi juice, sans calories! Holy Hannah. Iced, this gets a 95 from me. Possibly 100, as I can’t think of a way to improve it. If/when I do a Della Terra order, I will be getting this one solely for the purposes of icing it. Seriously, y’all: ICE THIS!

Updated rating to reflect versatility: not great hot but amazing iced!

This is another sample I received from Della Terra Teas after winning their Facebook giveaway – Thank you to Della Terra Teas! See my note for Caramel Cappuccino Crunch for info on shipping (if interested.) This tisane suffered a lot from the smell contamination, but I think it’s mostly back to normal now. I must say I don’t smell strawberries or kiwi but instead some vague indeterminate berry aroma. I get a hint of cinnamon (which is weird!) and I can smell the hibiscus in the dry leaf. Steeped for approximately 5 minutes, the liquor is a vibrant red/pink from the hibiscus and the aroma still has that hint of something I can’t place.

First sips are surprising. I don’t know if this needed more leaf or more time, but the flavour is very mild and unassuming. What flavour I get is lightly sweet (hibiscus is not nearly as present as I had feared). Again, I don’t get strawberry or kiwi. Just something vaguely fruity – and that strange note I couldn’t place from the aroma is still there in the taste. I am thinking it might be lingering smell contamination from the chocolate puerh, as there is nothing in the ingredient list to suggest this flavour.

Unfortunately, this is another one that I am glad to have sampled but would not keep in my cupboard. Strawberries are my favourite berry and I am continually looking out for a tea that can accurately replicate their flavour. This one doesn’t even come close so it’s a bit of a letdown. I think this might stand a better rating under a different name (berry melange or something like that). Expecting strawberries and/or kiwi just leaves me a bit disappointed. Sorry!

EDIT: After reading Sil’s tasting note, I’m thinking I might cold brew the other half of my sample and see if that has a better flavour. It can make a huge difference in the taste of fruity teas, so I’ll try to get to that. : )

Tried this one again today with the rest of my sample. This time it was approximately two full teaspoons of tea and 1/3 teaspoon of sugar to cut the bitterness I tasted last time. I get more depth of flavour this way, but it is unfortunately too sweet for me now. I accidentally put a bit more sugar than I meant to, so it’s my own darn fault, but I’m annoyed nonetheless.

On a different note, I received two surprise samples from Della Terra Teas today in a completely new packaging – the new bags are a thick black plastic with absolutely no smell contamination whatsoever! Big thumbs up for improved packaging – it is more plastic, but keeping tea seperate is essential. One of a pumpkin tea which will be drank by the beau (I’m a rare pumpkin hater) but the other has maple in it which I’m excited to try. Thanks Della Terra!

Sil

really glad to hear they’ve changed the sample bags. I know i sent them a note about that when i got mine just to see what the large sizes came in, since the sample sizes let the flavours bleed out a lot.

Uniquity

The bag change was a wise move. I’m sure they are more expensive and bad for the earth but they keep the tea clean!

I received this and a Strawberry Kiwi Fusion sample from Della Terra Teas on Friday after winning their Facebook giveaway recently. Amazingly, the tea arrived in Nova Scotia only a week after they sent it, which is a Canada Post miracle. Unfortunately there was some serious smell contamination from a bonus sample of Chocolate Chai Puerh they threw in, so I left the three teas to air out over the weekend. All that aside, Thank you to Della Terra teas for the samples! Winning things is always exciting!

I wanted a cup of hot chocolate today as it is sub-Arctic at work, but I couldn’t find any anywhere. Drat! So, I turned to this one as a good substitute, with less calories. Win! I gave it about 8 minutes to steep, which yielded a dark amber liquor, with the aroma of a rooibos based cappuccino. It does smell like cappuccino (coffee, sweet, cream) but the rooibos aroma is very present too. There is a bit of a bitter note at the end that is more reminiscent of coffee, but I’m hoping that isn’t included in the flavour (I hate coffee but tend to enjoy sweet frou frou cappuccinos the odd time I get them).

The first sips are a bit thin and a bit bitter. Not bitter in the way that tea can be, but more a hint of roasted coffee. I am a little surprised at the flavour, though I don’t know why because it tasted like it smells. Maybe I somehow anticipated the taste of a cappuccino, which would be hard to do without adding all the fat and sugar! :) I wish this had a touch more caramel flavour as that is the real selling point for me. There were a couple little squares in there which I can’t seem to find now so I assume they melted in? Either that or they disappeared!

Cumulatively, I enjoyed this, but it didn’t present the depth of flavour I was hoping for. Maybe if I doubled up on ‘leaf’ it would be a different story, but I’m worried about emphasising the dark bitter note too much. I’m such a wuss. Anyway, brilliant in theory but not quite for me in practice. Thanks again, Della Terra Teas!

I’m finding that i need to add extra tea to the Della Terra teas to get a more robust flavour. I enjoyed this one, though as you mentioned, it could be a bit stronger.

I <3 Teas

As I like to be secretive and not reveal where I get my samples from I must say that I have tried this tea and I must have super human tastebuds. ha because I actually found it to be strong enough that I had to lower the amount I used for my next cup. Thank you person that gave me the sample. lol. Also I tried a tea flavored cappuccino from a local coffee shop. I’ll stick with cappuccino flavored tea. :-D

Adjusting this ratingdown a bit. I don’t get much in the way of sweet caramel, and I wish there was a bit more spice…which is a little dumb cause I don’t know many candy apples that have spice on them. Heh. Over all this is a nice tea, just a little weak in terms of intensity of flavours. :)

Uniquity

While I very much appreciated and enjoyed the samples I have received of DTT tea I also found the flavouring a bit weak. Doubling up can really help, at least with the few I tried.

Sil

Uniquity – yeah i find that a lot. I don’t mind doubling up, but I guess I also don’t want to have to keep adding extra tea to bring it up to the strength I like heh. I may be in the minority there though :)

Uniquity

I don’t think you are in the minority!

So this is a really subtle tea, but it really is caramel apple! I am so digging the apple notes in this tea, especially since it’s not IN YOUR FACE apple…and it’s not that weird fake apple you get when you have apple candies or whatever…it tastes like apple and caramel. There’s a bit of a cinammon taste in this but i’m not sure if it’s ‘cause i didn’t clean up my finum from the last tea. I’m kinda doing a bunch back to back in between wipes tonight (playing WOW).

Trying this one again as I’m trying to narrow down the teas I want to try or purchase from Della Terra. While I love this one in theory, there’s a bit too much cinnamon. I love the chocolate and the richness of this tea and then the cinnamon hits. Now I really enjoy cinnamon but in this blend it interrupts the great blending that is going on. Still a decent tea but I’d love a version with a bit less cinnamon.

Go go first tasting note! Looks like another sample that i’m first to hit. I’ll be honest, part of why I chose this one in my samplepack/facebook win is because i’m fairly close to deciding that “pu” is just not for me. I’m zero for five now? I’m hoping that this one might be one that works for me.

I added a bit of extra to this one, to make it a bit stronger as I’m finding Della Terra teas a little on the soft side for flavours. Not a bad thing, I’m just trying to adjust accordingly.

Soooo first smell? Cinnamon. Kinda reminds me of cinnamon hearts. After a few sips, conclusion is…i’m missing the chocolate and this is more of a cinnamon tea than anything. Someone more versed in Pu would be able to comment on how well it does that aspect of it..but this is not such much chocolate or the chai that i’m used to. It’s not a bad tea, since I happen to like cinnamon, but it’s totally not what i expected from this one.

Still not loving this tea to death…the chocolate is very muted to me, as is the spice. I know they rolled outa spicier blend so I’ll need to give that a try next. That being said, this is a nice tea, but it just doesn’t knock my socks off the way id hoped it would.

Course part of that might just be the no good, very bad day I’m having today. Getting my matcha ready for the morning so I can have a caramel, peach smoothie and tucking myself in to bed for an early night. Things always look better in the morning, and if they don’t it’s always good to have more sleep! :)

Now Now Alexander … :)

I do however hope it gets better!

Oops another post … I need to learn to read the WHOLE thing then reply to ALL of it as opposed to letting each singular thought I have come into type!
SO ANYWAY … caramel peach huh … now that is intriguing!
I need to get some peach matcha!

Sil

That made me smile Azz…thanks :)

As for the caramel peach…it’s brought to you by a. Can. Of. Peaches. I’m not so fancy as the rest of you to be mixing all of them thar matcha flavours together! Lol sorry..getting a little loopy…but yeah I love peaches…and cherries…and well fruit. Fruit is good…caramel and fruit is better….chocolate and coffee and fruit and caramel is wonderful….

Another tea from Della Terra! I got to try this one in my new double walled cup that I picked up today because I miss seeing my tea in all it’s glory. Inspired to get on that after seeing the rich raspberry colour from my earlier tea from Della Terra. So I have to say that I am a totaly baby when it comes to spicy! My noes starts to water at things that are barely spicey. With this tea though, I’m inclined to agree with Azzrian that it needs a bit more kick. The flavor is quite nice but a little too subtle for me. I know they’re going to offer a spicy x3 version of this, so i’ll need to try that one and see how it goes :) Overall though, a nice tea.

Another from AZZ’s generosity. Though I saw mixed reviews on this one I still went into it optimisticly, yet this optimism was soon tempered once opening the bag to smell the dry leaf- a strong artificial cinnamon smell that you often find with scented candles. The color of the liqour was a deeper brown and the wet leaf smelled slightly more appealing than it did dry.

First drink I was surprised, intrigued actually. There was a certain degree of complexity right away. The nutty tones mingled nicely with the dark chocolate ones. It’s so nice when flavors can play well together and no ‘time outs’ need to be administered. The slight astringency was easy to overlook when considering all that my mouth had to process. The chili was so faint it was barely detectable, which I was glad since I’ve not had chili in tea yet and didn’t want to be overwhelmed by the spice. The bold black flavor played well in this drink for me too.

My wife loved the tea and stated “this may be my favorite so far”…which she ended up saying three times today in all. To be fair she is even newer than me and so I try to bring her along as much as possible. I must also note that, in general, when I list low to moderate astringency in a tea she tells me she doesn’t find any at all. Again I’m an astringency weenie.

We liked it, my soon to be sixteen year old as well, though the wife liked it most. This tea made it on her "one to buy’ list until, that is, she tried another tea. That is another note altogether isn’t it.

SIPDOWN! Ya i get excited easily. I’m sorry to see this one go even if i do need to add extra tea and steep for way longer to get it to the point that i really enjoy it. May still pick this up again though as it’s a nice winter cold day rainy storm kinda tea.

Oh man…so this is caffeine free, which is bad new bears for me since it’s delicious! and can be an evening tea for me as i try not to drink too much caffeine in the evening even though it doesn’t affect me.

So first off…the smell…oh man the smell. See I looooove lattes and cappacinos and caramel machiatos and this…this smells divine! I’m sure if Ian was here he’d be asking me why i was making coffee when i have 5 pounds of tee to drink!

So, on to the taste. I steeped it for the 5 mins, and I’m thinking next time i’ll up the time a bit and/or add a bit extra to the mix. It’s a little light on the flavour for me but that’s also likely because of the smell, which has me expecting full on coffee haha I’m also tempted to add a wee bit of milk or cream to this just to see what happens…but another time. I may just need to take advantage of the sale (free 2oz!) going on this weekend with della terra…course then i need a plan for sneaking it into the house as well haha. Maybe this one gets sent to work… Really a nice tee for anyone who loves that caramel/cappacino type flavor. The roiboos doesn’t even phase me :)

drank Mellow Mango Peach by Della Terra Teas
15006 tasting notes

Cold brew of this one as a sip down and it’s not quite what I was hoping for. The peach is the dominant flavour, and I can barely get hints of mango out of this. It’s not a bad tasting tea, but its not mango peach. It’s peach. Added a bit of sweetener to see if that helped and it was much the same. Ah we’ll, still a decent enough tea.

So this is a great tea! As my first tea from Della Terra Teas – it’s got me looking forward to the other 6 I have to try. The flavoring of the mango and the peach together is wonderful. I’d also really like to try this iced as I think it would be even better. A great tea for those who like peach and mango :)

My many thanks go out to Azz for this sample which came in an incredibly awesome care package, she is ‘the man’,er…uh…you know what I mean. So I steeped this up and my mouth was watering. I mean, who doesn’t like vanilla. Add to that the residual giddiness I still have after opening my package from Azz (there was even a cool little adjustable measuring spoon and a spongy biscuit that I believe to be Mr Bill and teas that convince me she has telepathic powers).
Then the phone rang. ARGH!…and it was important.
So between distracted sips I can tell you I got some vanilla. It tastes buttery and creamy, though mouthfeel(TeaEqualsBliss word) is not creamy- it’s a little astringent. If you’ve read many of my notes I’m picky about astringency so this may not be a factor to many of you. Also, it’s not super dry/bitter or anything like that, just a little dryness on the tongue.
There’s a sweetness on the inside of my cheeks, which is where the lingering sweet aftertaste is as well. I seem to taste a bit of nutmeg coming through. I still can’t get over how much vanilla I taste, I can’t imagine adding sugar to this already sweet drink.
Luckily for me this is one of those cases where I have enough left to do another note later. My appologies that this note is a flop, I am disappointed at getting a phone call and I’m sure it shows.
