I enjoyed a casual gongfu session with a new gaiwan and this tea, which was a free sample thoughtfully included in my last Tea Thoughts order.

It was a lovely silver needle with light and sweet and creamy notes of oats and hay, and a touch of fresh cucumber. There was also a lovely apricot note with a refreshing tartness, and an accompanying bit of astringency that even emulated the fuzzy skin. A bit of a sweet floral note as well, and I’m not well-versed on flowers, but it reminded me of osmanthus. I also tasted a bit of a savory note that made me think of the Yunnan gold needle that I had earlier.

I do quite enjoy silver needle, I’ll definitely have to order some to keep in my cupboard once it’s a bit more under control. :)

Is that the gaiwan you used in that photo? If so, it’s beautiful. Cup to. I love that set.

Yes, of course! The gaiwan set is from Tea Thoughts as well.
