Battler

Fairly solid base black tea with distinct malty character, only hints of orange and cinnamon. I really like the balance here, because this tea is not overdone, it still is a black tea only subtly aromatised.

Perfumey and sweet in aroma, that’s for sure. With lots of artificial strawberry and cream flavour. Taste seems better, because it’s only slightly sweet and the flavouring seems to be a bit lost here, fortunately, so the base bland black tea is the main impression. Generally not recommend.

Another office sipdown. Good, just before week-long training in Prague (IATA DGR if someone is interested) and I plan to buy some new tea there. Possibly another tea bag set to the office, as convinience is the key for me there.

Anyway to the last Battler tea I had. It is true to the name. Absolutely. Classic Earl Grey. I can imagine adding one word: cheap. Yes, it is far from Persian Choice EG, it is not so far from good Earl Grey from Fortnum and Mason, it is above some brands available here.

The base tea tastes absolutely flat. Just tannic liquior without much body itself. The bergamot there is sharp, but weak. It doesn’t last long and only that “tea” flavour remians in the mounth, somehow resembling Lipton Yellow Label to me today.

Ahh, no. 1/4 of those I would order myself in the future. Not so good result for Battler.

An afternoon tea. Bold, strong taste. A bit bitter afteraste, but again, feels flat too and it is not giving an memorable experience either.
Would I get it again? I do not think so…

It’s too much classic tea bag for me. Cheap, non-descriptive.

From CGFoods order, and I never heard about this brand before. Looking on their website it seems quite affordable, nice packaged teas… and who knows, maybe even good ones. I really like they have a little more detailed info about each tea, declaring grade, caffeine level and some basic tea enthusiast info. It is a little bit of shame that CGFoods carries only their tea bag section, because some loose teas seems very good to me. And I assume it is hard to get Ceylon FTGFOP teas, and I actually do not recall seeing any of this grade made in Sri Lanka. I should go there one day and see…

I have digressed greatly, so sorry for that. This tea base in almost fruity, smooth and malty with citrus notes. And the ginger there? At first I have been thinking it is weak and nothing much to write about. But later it started to be stronger and tingling, but in very pleasant way. In the end of the cup, it was distincly ginger, but not too fiery for me.

I am surprised and pleased with tihs cup of tea. I hope that others I have from this brand will be similar!
