I’ve been wanting to try this tea for awhile. I remember someone raving about Monk’s Blend in one of their reviews, and I’ve been curious ever since. This is pretty good, very sweet and a little artificial tasting, but not too much. It has a syrupy sweet aroma and flavor. The vanilla is a nice touch to the grenadine’s sweetness, and it gives it a creamy texture. I like this one, but I’m not sure if I will purchase more after I get through this ounce. Maybe I’ll have to try another company’s blend to see if it tastes any different.

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves and twigs with large yellow petals.
-Dry leaves smell fruity and syrupy sweet. Tea liquor aroma is of vanilla and sweet fruit.
-Tea liquor is a clear dark orange brown color.
-Malty and fruity flavor with a sweet fruity finish. Light creamy grenadine aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. A syrupy sweet cup with a fruity hint and a vanilla creaminess.

Another new Angelina’s Tea to try. And sadly, it’s the last day of fall break. Of course I never did my homework this whole time, so today will be spent doing homework, running errands and getting organized for the week. Yesterday was a fun day of shopping with the fiancee and having lunch. We also got started on our Halloween costumes, yay! Every year we always wait until the last minute and don’t have time to put together any thing really good. This year we’re more on top of it, and I am so excited. Come on, October 31st!

This tea smells wonderful, with a creamy vanilla scent and just a hint of nuttiness. The flavor is completely malty at first, with hardly any other flavors. I was able to coax out the vanilla and hazelnut with a little milk and sugar, and now its a perfectly rich cup of hazelnut and vanilla yuminess. I wanted to like this tea a little more, but it’s still not a bad cup. I’m looking forward to enjoying this tea on the upcoming chilly fall days!

-Dry blend has large black tea leaves and twigs with large yellow petals.
-Dry leaves smell like creamy vanilla with a hint of nuttiness. Tea liquor aroma is of rich sweet vanilla.
-Tea liquor is a clear dark reddish brown color.
-Deep malty flavor with a sweet and nutty finish. Strong malty aftertaste with a hint of hazelnut.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. A sweet cup of vanilla with a hint of toasty hazelnut.

This is one of the new teas from Angelina’s. I don’t know why, but when I read the description I started craving this tea. Maybe it’s the cold, rainy weather outside. Anyway, this tea is nice. I was expecting more of a creamy vanilla flavor, but it’s more of a milky caramel flavor. Very strong black tea base with a definite milkiness about it, like fresh milk had been added. I did add milk and sweetener, and it brought out some caramel hints. I think this will be a nice tea to enjoy on cold mornings this fall and winter!

-Dry blend has small grainy black tea leaves with large black tea leaves and twigs with a few white petals.
-Dry leaves smell lightly malty with a faint hint of milk. Tea liquor aroma is of strong black tea and warm creamy milk.
-Tea liquor is a cloudy very dark brown color.
-Extremely robust flavor with an almost bitter finish. Light milky caramel aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. Robust flavor with hints of creamy milk and sweet caramel.

My fave from Angelina’s is the Scottish Caramel Pu-erh. I bet I’d like this one for days when I don’t want to fuss with it. Mmm I am “on hiatus” but I think I’m visiting Angelina’s with my tea group next weekend, and it would be rude not to buy something!

Josie Jade

I absolutely love Angelina’s Maple Blueberry and highly recommend it! I’ll have to try the Scottish Caramel Pu-erh, thanks for the recommendation!

sipdown! (246) I wasn’t expecting much from this after seeing terri’s review. She passed on a little of this one for me to try. Fig teas always interest me, mostly because i know gracebtlb is on the look out for a great fig tea. This is not it grace! not unless you think figs = grape. because all i get from this one is grape…and that artificial grape flavour, not juicy green or purple grapes. not a bad tea, but not the tea it claims to be. :)

These comments refer to the 2006 Haiwan Ripe Tuo:

I enjoy tuo chas for the convenience factor and sometimes I use them to introduce someone to “real” pu’er (as opposed to the flavored loose pu’er sold by many companies). They are a bit of a novelty and most people new to pu’er enjoy them. This particular Haiwan tuo is a very satisfying traditional style ripe Pu’er with a robust, soothing flavor – thick, earthy and nutty. While I definitely prefer breaking off a chunk of a high quality aged cake, all in all this is a smooth and powerful shu which is also quite delicate. It’s good enough that I’ll probably reorder and try to keep it on hand.

The Here’s Hoping Traveling Tea Box arrived yesterday! WOW, it’s HUGE!
I immediately sat down with my laptop & 2 additional boxes. I put all the teas on my futon, (photo coming soon), & then made a list of all the teas, dividing them between the 3 boxes:
“No Thanks” went back into the original box. This is anything with artificial flavors, or just something I have no interest in, for one reason or another.
“Sample” I think that’s pretty self-explanatory. These are teas that might be interesting to try once, but once sampled will most likely end up in the “No Thanks” box.
“This one is mine” Originally titled, “I’m keeping this sh*t!” I guess you know that those are the ones I’m keeping to drink after the box is back on it’s way.

I’m at Tony’s for most of the weekend, with the exception of leaving for part of tomorrow to go play a wedding. I brought several of the tea samples with me, & I included the fig formosa in the sampling category because I love figs, especially fresh figs, & I figured, “Why not”. Unsweetened it is meh ;p
Sweetened, it tastes like grapejuice. There is oolong in there, but I’m not sure where. There are lots of flowers. Definitely going in the “no thanks” box.

Woot, the teabox arrived! it is quite a monster, but yeah, quite a bit I wasn’t into either, but there was crazy amount of selection for sure.

THAT is an awesome system! It helps all the choices from becoming overwhelming.

Given the number of teas in the box (98), it seemed like the easiest way to handle them! It really is an amazing array of teas, with something for everybody!

ashmanra

This has to be the very same one I bought at Tin Roof Teas, even has the same name. Definitely tastes like grape juice, and doesn’t scratch my oolong itch at all. But last week I had people over and three of them drank 96 ounces of this. I really hoped for lots of fig flavor, but I got grape Kool-Aid or Dimetapp vibe more than anything else.

I put this tea in the fiancee’s stocking for Christmas, since he loves root beer and rooibos. It has a lot of large pieces of orange rind and spices in the dry blend, and smells like a really strong, syrupy sweet root beer. The tea itself has more of a spicy sweet root beer aroma. The initial flavor is a little odd – it has the root beer spiciness, but also a strange sourness to it. The aftertaste has a tingling licorice note. I added a little milk and sweetener, which took away the sourness but seemed to enhance the licorice flavor. I like licorice, so I’m fine with that. :)

Right in the middle of steeping this tea the doorbell rang and my books arrived for nursing school. I need to order a lunchbox, nametag holder, and Timolino and I will officially be ready for nursing school!

-Dry blend has red rooibos with large pieces of dried orange peel and spices.
-Dry leaves smell strongly of a syrupy root beer. Tea liquor aroma is of spicy sweet root beer.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium reddish brown color.
-Spicy and almost sour flavor and finish. Lightly numbing licorice aftertaste that lingers.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. Spicy sweet and sour root beer flavor with a heavy licorice note.

Glad those books arrived! Sounds like you have your priorities in order – food, nametag, and TEA! You’ll be just fine. :-)

Thanks, Janefan, I hope so! :)

Sipdown!

Polished off the rest of this sample from Josie Jade, just went back and read my previous review of this tea from one year ago which I had totally forgotten about.

This time I didn’t oversteep, and was very impressed with this tea.

It’s hearty! I love a cup of tea that can hold its own even when you add milk or cream. I drank half of this cup just plain, and the other half with a tiny splash of 10% cream. Both ways were tasty and full bodied. Adding maple syrup probably would have made it even more delicious.

I loathe a watery black tea, this was not.

The blueberry was very apparent and the maple fairly obvious also, though again the addition of some real maple syrup would have brought out the flavours even more.

I’d call this tea a success for me because I’d buy some if I could easily do so!

Thank you Josie Jade for another awesome sample!!

I made this one at work this morning, got distracted while it was steeping and had a very strong cuppa 10 minutes later, haha.

I ended up adding milk to tone it down a bit, which was fine because I’d been thinking I felt like having a plain black tea with milk!

I have enough left to make another cup properly later, as it was I liked that the black base wasn’t weak, (i know, nothing is weak after steeping for 10 min!!) but I could still taste the blueberries. This time around I didn’t get any maple but I suspect that was more due to my screwup than the actual tea :)

I used boiling water as I had no directions but figured that would work for black.

Looking forward to round 2! Withholding my rating for now.

oh man i wanna try this one!

I swear, the first time I tried it, I could barely taste the matcha, but now after a few days of letting it sit and trying it again, it seems more present. Maybe the dark chocolate needed to breathe, like wine? Anyway, it’s good, but I recall liking Vosges (no longer available) green tea chocolate bar more for it’s more in-your-face flavor. The other non-tea “It’s Chocolate” bars I’ve tried are pretty good though, especially the Pina Colada. I may need to put in another order, or just find time to visit Angelina’s Tea shop in person again!

LiberTEAS

You’ve got to try the chocolate that Life in Teacup offers. SO good!
