Om nom nom. This is yummy. Caramel/brown sugar over light peach notes. I hope this sticks around.

You’re making a peach tea sound so appealing. And I’m normally not crazy over them. You’re good!

Lauren | A Quarter to Tea

I really like this one too, actually! My goal was to make a peach tea I liked because I typically can’t stand that candy/gummy peach flavor. But the really rich caramel notes temper this so well, I think. :) Glad you like it!

I’ll have to check this out. I’ve always wanted to find a peach tea I could actually enjoy. I love real peaches and I actually like the peach flavor in candy, but for some reason I can’t stand it in tea.

Really delicious apple tea. I don’t know that I would have guessed brandy or cheesecake, but there are definitely some interesting flavors backing up the apple, and it does have a creamy aspect. I think this is my favorite one of QT so far.

So I’ve never been a fan of white tea, but I couldn’t resist the description of this. What do you know, it actually does taste eggy-cakey (and it has a delicious cake smell too). Also there are some nice vanilla custard notes. The white tea doesn’t get in the way here, since the other flavors are strong enough that I don’t notice it much. This is a soothing tea to unwind with.

Last of the sample. This was very good, definitely tastes like a light cider with cream notes, so if you love apple but find apple cider to be too much of a sugar rush, check this out.

This is a lovely one. The apple is nice and strong. The floral notes complement the apple rather than distract from it, and the creamy custard flavor really ties everything together. A very good quality oolong base too. I got two steeps out of this and they were both strong, could probably manage a third.

Yum! This is a great afternoon treat. The base blends well with the sweet caramel/chocolate flavor.

Sad sipdown :( I thought 4 oz. of this would last me quite a while, but I just whipped right through it. So good!

So nice to have this in the cupboard :) I got a sampler from A Quarter to Tea awhile back and this was my favorite of the lot. I love the maple flavor and the spices are warming without being overpowering. A lovely morning cup..

Last of the sample. I got about 3 cups out of this, and it grew on me with every cup. Glad to hear this is going into Quarter to Tea’s permanent collection, because I think it’s the one I’d be most likely to restock :)

Well, this doesn’t happen often, but Syrupy Pumpkin Pancakes is a 100% accurate name for this. It has that unique taste the pancakes get when the syrup has soaked into them.

When I opened the bag, I got a wave of cinnamon, but it’s not that strong in the brew. I taste it, but happily it’s a background note to the other flavors.

A lovely tea to wake up to!

For me, cherry is the dominant note here, with the pistachio/almond flavors singing a very nice backup. I can’t pick up on the coconut, but the base is a great match for this, present but unobtrusive.

p.s. Ate the cherry out of this one too once I was done steeping. Seriously, I hope people are not throwing the cherries out with the used tea leaves, they taste amazing.

Hooray, my sampler from Quarter to Tea came in. Even through the plastic, all the samples smell delicious.

First up, Chocolate Cherry Latte Oolong. When I first read the description of this, I didn’t really think it sounded like something I would like. But I was swayed enough by all the Steepster enthusiasm to want to try it anyway. And now that I have, I can see why it’s so popular. Coffee is the strongest note I pick up, and then the sweet smokiness of the houjicha. I get a little chocolate, but this time around at least, I’m not picking up on the cherry. Maybe I should have let it steep a little longer.

That said, I think my first thought was right, this isn’t really something I would stock, as coffee flavor just isn’t something I crave in my teacup. The day I want something that tastes like coffee, I will just drink coffee.

I still appreciate the originality that went into this though (as well as the quality ingredients) and I don’t think I’ll have any trouble finishing this off. Really looking forward to trying the other samples!

p.s. I ate the dried cherry out of this when I was done steeping, and it was delicious :)

I saw someone on here keeping track of their sipdowns for the year. I really like this idea. I have tried to keep track of my tea drinking in an excel sheet, but then I get focused on working out or work, or meal planning and then tea stats fall to the waist side. Something I do fairly regularly though is notes on Steepster and keeping my cupboard up to date. So logging sipdowns on here should be easy. Starting 2 weeks early for 2016…..

Sipdown 1 of 2015 – small sample. Purchased 11/2015 – Finished 12/2015.

This tea is delicious and to be honest if the Mad Hatter puts out some awesome sounding blends here soon I may have to grab a 1/2 ounce of this tea. It is light, creamy and vanillay while offering a slight hint of something tart. Apple maybe? Either way I am taken to that peaceful place with this tea and really enjoy it. I don’t normally enjoy flavored oolongs so this is saying a lot for this one. In LOVE with this one.

AMAZING! Yep, if you haven’t bought your limited edition supply of this tea you had better hurry up because tea this good will not last very long. A light base that blends well with a vanilla/creamy flavor with hint of tart fruit.

This is the last A Quarter to Tea I have to review… for now. It was included in the sampler I bought. Sadly, this isn’t my favorite, though it is being discontinued now. I think that is a good choice among the Quarter teas I’ve tried. This one just isn’t as magical as the others. Sure, I didn’t follow the suggested steeping instructions, but I think it tasted the best it could have. I was tasting mostly apple due to the big chunk of apple. And maybe some sort of champagne hints, but that could have been the white tea itself. Not really tasting the other fruits or flavors. I was expecting at least that delicious cherry flavor from the other cherry teas. Maybe the flavoring was a little faded with this one. I tried to keep it away from the other samples to reduce contamination. The rest of my sample will be on my sale list for someone else to try!

Cold Brew Sipdown (118)!

I really liked this one! I feel like I’ve had a few “Banana Nut” teas lately: bread, pancakes or otherwise. Honestly, I think this is my favourite variation though. I know people have been critical about the amount/concentration of banana notes but I thought the ratio was just right! More banana than anything else, with a nice malty kind of flavour, slight briskness, and a lovely nutty finish!

I’d love to elaborate more, but I didn’t take notes when I drank this and this is pretty much as much as I remember…

I’ve had another go at this, using some brewing recommendations from the owner of QTT, and I’m liking this much more, though I definitely feel like this is just a subtly flavored tea overall. I think part of the problem is the only similarly flavored tea I’ve had is the chocolate orange puerh from DavidsTea which is like BAM in your face flavor.

I added milk today, and am getting a nice creamy chocolatey note and a hint of what I think is the orange. Slightly cooler temps definitely works, but like I said, don’t expect this one to knock you down with flavor.

It is subtle, but YUMMY! Thanks for sharing some of yours with me. :)

I’ve had this twice now, once with milk and once without, and I can’t seem to get much flavor out of this either way. Before steeping I ate a chocolate chip and it was extremely orangey flavored, so I’m not sure what’s happening. I might try a cold steep to see if I can find the flavor on this one. I’m sad that I can’t seem to steep this one right :(

Lauren | A Quarter to Tea

I’ve found this one (and most of the chocolate blends for whatever reason) do better at a slightly cooler temperature (195-200) with a longer steep 5+ minutes. The flavor should get more pronounced as the cup cools as well. :)

Emilie

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely try that next time!

This was a sample in my last order. Thank you Lauren

Well…. this isn’t really my jam. It is a little like bathroom cleaner flavor to me. The grassy/lemony smell just doesn’t really do it for me. I am always thankful for samples like this b/c they usually are teas I wouldn’t pick for myself. Sometimes I fall in love, other times it is a miss and I am glad to get to try without having to spend a lot of money.

So, as some may have already read, I hate cherries! However, my mom really likes cherries and keeps asking me to make a cherry tea and I’m like: “heck no mom, I have no idea how cherry could taste good so I’m not going to try to make something I dislike”

So thankfully this was made and I was able to make my mom a cup…. like a huge 16 ounce full. Upon seeing the brew of the liquid and aroma, I had to try it because I figured a cherry oolong with some coffee bean would smell much stronger and be a bit darker than it was. The taste came out as smooth and balanced, but that is all I will say.

From my perspective: The mixture is 95% in contact/full. That speaks volumes in regards to tea blends because the majority are around 75% that I’ve noticed. I’m just picky because I hate flavors being added to leaf of low quality to offset the actually leaf taste. The oolong used in this blend is nice so that makes me happy.

I’ll get to my teas from Q2T soon and should have more positive remarks.

gmathis

Cherry is really hard to get right. This sounds plausible; many end up tasting like soda syrup or cough medicine.

Liquid Proust

Does not taste like syrup, I can attest to that.

Cold Brew Sipdown (120)!

The name and unique ingredients drew me into this one and I’m not sure what I expected from it taste wise; I guess more like a strawberry tea with spicy jalepeno finish? If I’m being honest with myself; I think I knew I wouldn’t like it. I never like this kind of more intense spicy teas because I just don’t like spicy things in general. And yet I keep buying them…

But no, this is very jalepeno without flavour from much else. I don’t taste strawberry, and hell I barely taste green tea either. It’s just this very specifically jalepeno pepper flavoured kind of ‘burning’. Way too much jalepeno for my tastes, that’s for sure. That said I do like it more than the most recent spicy pepper based tea I’ve tried, which is the Devil’s Mate from McQuarries that had chili loops in it. And it’s better than the spicy tisane that RiverTea used to carry (can’t remember the name right now). Though, I do think Frank ere 52Teas Napalm Ferret is the best one, thus far.

Not rating because my bias towards excessively spicy teas would clearly be a factor in how I’d be scoring this; even though I probably wont touch this tea again in the future I’m happy with the experience though.

I loved this one. It tastes just like it says it will, with sweet maple flavors and roasty nutty flavors. This is probably TMI but while drinking this I burped and it tasted just like I had eaten a pecan

Mookit

I love that description. Honestly, makes me want to go get that tea. :P

Sipdown (121)!

First to review? I can’t believe no one else was drawn in my Cranberry Almond Scone! Back when I was picking my first three samples, this is one I was very close to asking for but instead I went for the Sangria.

I cold brewed this sample; the dry aroma was just so much more cranberry than almond and I really quite like drinking cranberry teas cold over hot normally so I thought this suited my tastes better. If the aroma had been more of an almond than cranberry I would have made it hot though. Steeped, the liquor was very, very cloudy/foggy but it was also this lovely kind of silver/moonlight colour too so while normally such a cloudy liquor would have aesthetically been a turn off I didn’t mind it here. It was honestly a little pretty.

Taste wise, the best word to describe the overall experience would be ‘intense’. It’s a good mix of sweeter almond notes and juicy, tangy cranberries. The cherry/marzipan like flavours from the almond really balance out the otherwise tart tendencies of the cranberry. I will say, it was kind of artificial tasting. I know the blend definitely had actual almonds in it (probably why the liquor was so foggy) but I was getting an artificial almond extract kind of taste as well. Artificial doesn’t necessarily mean bad/chemical but it did lessen the experience a bit for me.

The other problem I encountered was that there wasn’t really a whole lot here to nail the “scone” aspect of the tea. Had there been notes of butter, cream, or baked bread I think that could have tied it in but mostly this was just cranberry and almond. Maybe if I’d brewed this hot the balance of flavours would’ve been different and the white tea itself could have contributed some of those notes I was looking for, but this way didn’t do that for me.

Overall, I still really enjoyed this blend! It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting or looking for but I think if I was drinking it again knowing this is what it’d taste like I’d be much more satisfied ’cause the flavours that are here are quite yummy.

Lauren | A Quarter to Tea

This is actually really interesting to me! I don’t know that I’ve tried this one cold steeped. I’ve found it’s mostly a buttery cake tea with cranberry and a little almond when brewed hot!
