drank Raspberry Cream by 52teas
357 tasting notes

The powder room renos are coming along slowly but surely. I put the last coat of paint on the ceiling yesterday, and I was looking forward to getting that first coat onto the walls this morning (That first coat of color is always exciting to me), when I realized that my painting clothes were in the wash. I debated ruining another set of clothes (I inevitably get paint on myself) but I decided to wash my laundry and check out steepster in the meantime. :D

I could have sworn that I already posted a tealog for this? Hmmm….must have dreamt it. It’s just as well because it tastes even better now that I’ve left it to cure for a little longer. The raspberry flavor reminds me of a raspberry ice cream rather than a straight up raspberry. It’s smooth without any tartness, nor any of those annoying seeds that somehow lodge between my front teeth without my knowledge for like half a day…then I finally look in the mirror and do a double-take…and try to remember all the people who I’ve talked to since I ate raspberries…

Sorry…back to the tea! When I made this, I didn’t let the water hit the boiling point and I steeped it according to color (rather than time) as I find sometimes 52teas steep a little stronger and therefore require much less steep time. This is perfect in my books as it means more subsequent steeps. I have a feeling this will also make a lovely full-bodied iced tea…mmmm…it’s really delicious hot though.

This sounds lovely. I passed on it because I was worried it would be too astringent. But awesome job with the the renos!

It’s one of those teas that as long as I’m careful enough to not over boil or over steep it, it turns out beautifully. I have ruined a cup or 2 in the past and when I do, it does turn out to be astringent. Thanks Incendiare, I’m excited to see the renos coming together, and I’m most happy that the powder room doesn’t smell like pee anymore.

Yeah, this sounds to be a sensitive one in terms of steep times. Even the Pumpkin Cheesecake blends sound the same based on the reviews. When do you estimate the renovations will be finished?

I find a lot of the 52teas blacks need shorter steep times in less than boiling water. Once you get the balance right, the pay off is incredible (especially for the Pumpkin Cheesecake one – that’s my favorite), but it does take a bit of experimentation to get it perfect. As for the renos – the powder room should be done within the next couple of weeks. We are still in the planning stages for the upstairs extension, and once that’s done we will be saving up and starting to informally plan our main floor renos. I don’t think I will ever stop renovating. Whether it is a large company driven project or a little diy, I like to have something on the go. I’ll probably need to take a break to work on landscaping sometime- this place can look like a jungle pretty quickly – lol

That’s my mug! I’ve never really been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh, but I like the fact that this mug is more or less clear. Plus, I can’t help but giggle when I say “ewww …I have Pooh on my mug” and people in the room gawk in horror before realizing I’m talking about Winnie. Am I easily amused? heck yeah!

A little something about my interests? – In no particular order, I love tea, makeup, paper crafting (card making), home renovations, and gardening.

As a rule, I tend to drink my tea without adding anything, but if that doesn’t work for me, I indulge in the fact that rules are meant to be broken. Yep! I’m such a rebel…sometimes I even color outside the of lines :P
