drank ReVive by Sterling Tea
46 tasting notes

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked ReVive green tea. I got excited when I saw it had mint in it, but I didn’t want to get too excited about it and get my hopes up. The last time I had a green tea blended with mint it was awful and I couldn’t even finish it. It was THAT bad. I think it was North African Mint by DAVIDsTEA but I may have blocked the name from my memory.

Imagine my delight when it tasted nothing like NAM but instead was this delicious, cool, and refreshing green tea. I LOVED the mint and lemongrass combination.

I was able to taste more green tea and lemongrass then the mint. Based on the initial smell I thought it would have a lot more mint but surprisingly it did not. The taste was mellow and smooth. I could still taste the mint but it was more in the aftertaste.

All in all I really enjoyed this tea. The green tea/lemongrass/mint is a lovely combination when blended together.

Guardian Brew is the first tea I’ve tried from Natural Warrior Tea (and also the first review on Steepster – woohoo!). I didn’t know what to expect at first, being new to trying tea from this company, but I knew there was only one way to really find out – by brewing a cup of tea of course!

The aroma had a familiar smell that a lot of green teas have. Leafy and earthy.

I figured if the leaves smelled this way than chances are it may have a similar earthy, leafy taste to it as well.

Wrong.

Quite the opposite in fact. It was a nice surprise to find out that it had a smooth and slightly sweet taste. It did have a small earthy aftertaste, but it was not the dominating flavor.

It was a subtle tea and had a bit of sweetness that you tend to find naturally in some teas. One of the thoughts that came to mind was that this would be a good green tea for those who don’t like “green tea”. I can see why many would be turned off by the taste, but Guardian Brew definitely seemed to be more subtle in flavor. I felt like it struck a nice balance while also having a smooth and refreshing taste.

This is hands down my favorite mug from DAVIDsTEA.

I purchased the Glass 12oz Perfect Tea Mug a little over a year ago and have been using it none stop since.

I LOVE that its glass. The huge tea nerd inside of me loves being able to watch the tea slowly steep and change in color. I also do a bunch of tea reviews on my blog, and the glass tea mug is usually my go-to mug for reviews. The large infuser basket makes steeping tea super easy and hassle free. There is lots of room for leaf expansion and the small holes are pretty fine that even the smallest leaves can hardly escape.

I also love the feel of the glass. Yes the glass in very thin, but there’s just something about the way it feels when holding it in your hand. Speaking of which, it also has a large handle, which is great as I can comfortably fit my whole hand through when holding the mug.

Back to the thin glass part. It should go without saying that yes you need to be careful when handing this mug. If you knock it over or accidentally drop it, it will most likely break. I hope I didn’t just jinx myself and end up accidentally breaking my own mug next time I go to use it.

I also love that it comes with a lid, or saucer, as some like to call it. It stays on top of your mug while steeping and also serves as a coaster to rest the infuser on afterwards.

drank Pumpkin Pie Matcha by DAVIDsTEA
46 tasting notes

I had this one last week as I was feeling festive (with it being Halloween and all) and wanted to treat myself.
I thought Pumpkin Pie Matcha would make the perfect treat. I decided to make things extra exciting by having it as a latte. I know, I’m living life on the edge.
It was sweet and definitely tasted like pie. I couldn’t taste any pumpkin though which I found to be a bit of a bummer because I looooove pumpkin. You could definitely taste the earthy matcha notes as well.
I had this one in the store but I liked it so much I will probably go back and pick up a tin.

reviewed scoop n slide infuser by DAVIDsTEA

I really like this handy scoop n slide infuser from DAVIDsTEA.

I use it to scoop tea leaves and steep tea at the same time. It’s essentially a tea ball attached to a handle but I like using it much better than an actual tea ball.

The head of the infuser is pretty large and allows for decent leaf expansion. I’ve steeped various black, green, and oolongs and never had an issue with not enough room for leaf expansion. I make sure not to over stuff the infuser and to put in enough tea to make a single serving.

The holes in the infuser are also small enough in that you don’t have small tea pieces floating around. I also like that the handle never gets hot even though it’s metal.

I had this one the other day when I went into the store. I decided to live life on the edge a little and get this in latte form…

I had high hopes for Pumpkin Chai cause 1. I LOVE pumpkin and 2. Chai ain’t half bad either.

I also liked that the smell really reminded me of Glitter & Gold. It almost smelled identical and you could easily mistake one for the other if you had a blindfold on.

Sad to say that I was a little disappointed with the latte. There was waaaayyy too much milk. It really took over the tea and all I could taste was dairy. I did get a hint of a chai aftertaste but I definitely could not taste any pumpkin in there at all.

This was the first time I had a latte at DT and I’m wondering if all their lattes are made super milky or if mine just happened to be that way?

drank Sangria by DAVIDsTEA
46 tasting notes

I LOVE the smell of Sangria! It smells delicious and very fruit punch-y.

I’m pretty impressed because I have to say they really got the flavors on point. It really reminds me of actual sangria just without the alcohol.

At times I could taste the hibiscus more so than others. I always find steeping with hibiscus tricky cause sometimes it just comes out so bitter. Luckily a bit of sweetener goes a long way.

I found this to be a very refreshing drink and will have to try cold brewing it to see which way tastes better. Perhaps cold brew will alleviate any bitterness from the hibiscus?

I reeeeeallllyy wanted to like this tea because I LOVE me some watermelon.

You would think that if you combine two amazing things together such as watermelon and tea that it would turn out bomb right?

I’m sad to say that I was disappointed with Luscious Watermelon. It even pains me to write those words. I brewed this on several different occasions and every time it really just tasted like hot water. It lacked serious flavor. At least when you opened the bag there was a nice smell of that artificial watermelon scent, but nothing in the actual taste.

I have 50g of this tea still to go, and once I run out I can’t see myself ordering this one again.

Has anyone tried this cold brewed? I’ll have to give that a try – that may be the only way to enjoy a good cup of this.

drank Santa's Secret by DAVIDsTEA

I LOVE Santa’s Secret!

First off, this tea smells amazing. It smells like Christmas morning.

Second, this tea has mini candy canes.

I don’t need to say anymore.

drank Gingerbread Cookie by DAVIDsTEA
46 tasting notes

This one was meh.

I had high hopes for a good gingerbread cookie tea but was disappointed.

First, I’m not a huge fan of mate. Maybe if this tea had a different base it would have tasted better. The rooibos part was fine and didn’t bother me, and I figured there would be some rooibos in a gingerbread tea anyways.

Dry, it did smell pretty good. It reminded me of maple and light cinnamon.

However once brewed it felt like it had no flavor. I couldn’t taste the ‘gingerbread’ or ‘cookie’ part of it at all, which is what it needed to bring this tea to life.
