Good (late) morning Steepster!

Ugh, I am tired today, didn’t sleep too well last night and then got up at 5 am with my Sweetie who had to catch a flight. I did manage to nap for a few hours when I got home but don’t feel so energetic yet.

This is one of the samples I got from Obubu tea. So far, this may be one of my favorites. The tea liquor is light and definitely on the sweeter side, with notes of spinach and peas. There is only a very slight palate cleansing finish in the astringency. There’s something about the flavor in this that’s really nice and delicate, but not too light on impact. Recommended :)

Now off I go to apply for some more jobs… zzzz… boring!

Well, I thought I would try cold brewing this as I rather like it hot… unfortunately when it’s cold brewed the stevia becomes really prominent so it’s sickeningly sweet. I don’t mind stevia sometimes but I think it’s really a bit too much. Oh well! Guess I will be drinking it hot from now on ;)

Mmm. it’s a sipdown! I might get some more of this next Christmas but I still have plenty of tea left! This is a very yummy combination of mint, vanilla and decaf green tea. I haven’t met too many decaf green teas I like, but in this case there’s so much mint that you can’t taste the green tea anyway.

I’ve had a busy day! I’m applying for non-profit jobs but I haven’t heard a peep from any of the ones I responded to. I’m not sure what the problem is, but I might need to go back to grad school. Thinking about having to take the GRE is stressful! Math just isn’t my strong point, I think I’d have to take GRE prep course and maybe a basic math class just to be able to pass….

Marzipan

The GRE is so much easier now that it’s on a computer vs. when it was a paper test (I took it both ways).

Good to know!

Tea of the afternoon here. I have had this for far too long, it seems to be the never ending tea but I think I’m close to finishing it off! I’ve been doing really well lately at not buying any tea, now I just have to get my other spending under control. :)

Cameron B.

Congratulations! I’ve been doing a terrible job, lol.

TeaBrat

Being unemployed is a good motivator! The last thing I need is more tea…

drank Milk Oolong by Mandala Tea
2816 tasting notes

I got this in my last order with Mandala tea. I’m not sure why I waited so long to purchase some… maybe because I haven’t been drinking many green oolongs in the past few years.

This is so nice! It definitely has a buttery flavor and also has notes of coconut, amazing! When it’s sitting on my desk I feel like it has an aroma of buttered popcorn. Definitely exceeded my expectations and then some. Not fakey like some milk oolongs I’ve tried. This is definitely a tasty tea that seems to help relax me. I guess I need to relax right now, My life feels like a chaotic mess and I’m not sure what to do about it. Thinking about making a career change is hard. I think it’s time to slow down and have a tea break :)

Sorry for the short-ish note but I’m trying to do some productive things today instead of spending too much time on the internet. Wish me luck. :)

For the past few days I’ve been drinking shu in the evenings. The weather here has been so foggy (what else is new?) but I forgot until recently how good shus are for having after dinner. I should try to keep drinking them because I have a whole shoebox full (shubox?) :)

Today was very relaxing since I went to a 3 hour yin yoga workshop with this friend of mine and then had dinner at a South Indian restaurant. I feel like I’m all ready for bed but it’s only 7:20 pm… ha

These are nice little tuos, I especially like the square shape of these. I put one in my xiying and after a quick rinse I did two steeps of about 20-30 seconds each and combined them in a glass cup. This is a fairly mellow shu… it has a lot of coffee flavor in my opinion, smooth but also a little bittersweet in the finish.

The second steep seemed to get a lot more mellow and also darker. It definitely doesn’t seem to have a lot of fishy or funky flavors like some shus can. The flavor started getting lighter around steep #5/6 which maybe means I should have steeped it a bit longer but I might be all puerh’ed out for this evening!

This would be a decent tuo to try, especially if you were ordering other stuff from Pure Puer…

I liked their osmanthus puerh, and I have a good bit of teaware I have purchased from them. Excellent, personal service.

TeaBrat

I saw them at a tea festival and bought a few things… don’t need any pu-erh for a long time though, I have LOTS.

JC

Is this the one I sent you? I can’t remember. If it is this one is nice, but I agree with you it runs out fast. Though the yellow stamp on front and the mini brick itself was kind of cute lol.

Cheri

shubox…HAHAHAH!

This is my sipdown of this morning…

I may have overleafed this today because it sure does seem strong, with notes of tobacco reaching almost epidemic proportions! I don’t quite remember it tasting so bitter before. I see that Verdant is not selling this anymore on their websit. I have enjoyed it…

Hope all my Steepster friends have a great weekend!

CHAroma

It’s only out of stock, not retired. So chances are it will be back again. And thank goodness for that! This is one of my all-time favorites. :)

TeaBrat

good to know!

TheTeaFairy

And a good week end to you also :-)

I am drinking this tonight, it’s been a while since I’ve had it and I felt like having an evening cuppa… I put a whole coin into my small yixing teapot and short steeps are good with this combination. Tonight this seems delicious and tastes like chocolate to me. I would definitely get some more of these coins, but I just looked at the Bana website and the package is $42 now! I think I paid about 1/2 that much a couple of years ago. I guess they must be selling out? I will savor this tonight…

I finally negotiated my severance package with my ex workplace, I think I will be happy when this whole ordeal is behind me!

JC

ReadingMMMMMM CHOOOCOLATE…” $42!?… :(

apt

I know of a tea shop owner in NY who bought out a ton of her own stock of ripe pu coins.

TeaBrat

apt – maybe it was these because they’re the only coins that have been on Bana’s site…
JC – like a fine wine it just got better & more pricey with age. sigh

apt

no it’s definitely not these, they weren’t from Bana. They were 2005 vintage, individually wrapped, and 7g each.

TeaBrat

ah, ok sorry I was confused :)

Cheri

Yay for finally getting that stuff with the ex-work all sorted out. I hope it’s all finished and finalized quickly so you can really move on.

TeaBrat

Thanks Cheri :)

mmm. yumyy, yummy, yum. I made a pot of this today to assist me with getting my homework done for writing class tonight.

I do wish there was a version of this without stevia in it, however it doesn’t really bother me that much in this blend since I really LOVE ginger. I may make up another pot of this once I’m done with the first! Today I was looking up jobs in the tea industry and found David’s Tea is hiring all over the place. It might be kind of fun to work around that tea all day but I bet you’d get sick of it.

My friend worked at an ice cream shop and told me that you can get sick of ice cream. 0_o

TeaBrat

I can believe it. I don’t even like ice cream that much myself ;)

Good morning Steepster!
I’ve been busy lately, my BF and I went to Tahoe and Sierraville over the weekend to celebrate his birthday, and last night we were doing more celebrating! Aside from that I’ve been busy looking for volunteer work and a job… sigh

Anyway this tea is a sipdown and the last of a few things I bought at Murchie’s last year in Victoria. It isn’t a bad black cuppa tea that’s good for the cold and foggy weather we’re having this morning. It just isn’t one of my favorites… tastes a bit like dirt in my opinion. Obviously I’m not too upset that it’s gone…lol!

Boiling 3 min, 0 sec
