1800 Tasting Notes
Advent day 6! I’m generally not a huge fan of rooibos. I find it tastes like stick water+whatever over ingredients are in the tea. However, this one isn’t terrible! It does have a nice baked good quality, and a wee bit of spice. It’s a really smooth mouthfeel, which I’m enjoying. Stick flavor is minimal, which is always a plus for me!
I received this in one of my multiple orders from Necessiteas over the last few months. I’m really loving the blends I’ve tried! I probably would’t have chosen this for myself, so it was a nice surprise. I’ve also been having A LOT of really heavy teas lately, this morning in particular, and wanted something a bit more vibrant and bright. This definitely hit the spot! Zesty and packed full of bright citrus flavor. Really lemony, a bit of vanilla.
Flavors: Lemon, Lemon Zest, Lemongrass, Vanilla
Advent day 4! A robust chocolate flavor, that doesn’t have that synthetic profile so many chocolate teas suffer from. The apple definitely gives it a tanginess that is interesting with the chocolate. I love that it’s an herbal as well.
Advent day 4! The notes in this didn’t quite match the name (I was expecting something reminiscent of a baked good). I got a strong orange blossom note, which I usually love. But, in this it came across a bit too syrupy. The ginger was only noticeable in the aftertaste. I didn’t detect any rose. Not terrible, just pretty boring and somehow bland.
Advent day 4! So.much.maple. I could smell the rich maple goodness through the bag. But, it’s not the off-putting cat pee type maple, it’s more of a decadent maple dessert. There’s definitely a bit of cinnamon coming through the maple as well, which is making it more well-rounded.
Advent day 4! I had a somewhat hectic day, and I’m a bit behind on sipping through my advent offerings. This is a Brutalities flavor I’ve been wanting to try for awhile, so I was happy to see it in the advent. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a miss for me. The butterscotch flavor is far too mild for my taste, and there’s something a bit too astringent/bordering on sour that just isn’t working for me.
Weird! I thought it had a fairly distinct butterscotch flavor. Maybe my sample had more bits of something flavorful than yours?
Mmmmmmm what a scrumptious cup. Mint teas are very hit or miss for me, but sometimes I crave the chocolate/mint combo, and this really hit the spot. I love the mild oolong combined with the creamy chocolate, and cool peppermint. A splash of oat milk made this the perfect morning cup of comfort.
Flavors: Chocolate, Peppermint
Enjoyed this unsweetened and without milk. Not sure why I made that choice, as I usually prefer my chais the opposite. I did enjoy the balance of spices, but as expected, thought it would’ve been much better with cream and sugar. I couldn’t quite taste the rum or gingerbread. I definitely got more of a straightforward cinnamon/ginger blend.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Ginger
Haha, “stick flavor” is a great description of how rooibos tastes. :)
