72 Tasting Notes
Oh my. The licorice comes off a little too bluntly in this one, though it doesn’t have the smooth body that most teas with licorice have. The cacao is okay, nothing to write home about, especially considering the price of this tea brand – you would expect decadence at its best in this dessert tea. I had hoped for a little more complexity, this tea just seems flat and unexciting to me. Not a favourite, not even a contender. I’m glad I only had one tea bag in my gift set.
Wow… I have tried this tea maybe 4 times, 3 hot and 1 iced. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out a way to make it enjoyable. I keep blaming it on the steeping, but I think it’s safe to say after 4 tries that this is not my cup of tea. I won’t rate it, because it seems wrong. I think it’s the mix of citrus and floral notes that are turning me off.. and maybe even the carrot. I’m going to keep trying because I think this tea should be good, and I need to somehow make my 50 grams disappear, but there is little hope in this one.
Summer breeze makes me feel fine! Blowing through the jasmine in my mind….
I actually sang this while drinking this tea. I tried it hot, and it reminded me of the disaster that DT’s green and fruity is to me. But then I tried it cold steeped and oh my. This is the perfect rooibos to have iced, it’s so pleasantly fruity and tastes almost like juice. I think I’ll be adding this to my permanent collection, because I love having iced staples – Sometimes nothing is as thirst quenching as a good iced tea. I’ve also been finding that I enjoy some rooibos teas much more iced than hot, I don’t know why.
As another reviewer has mentioned, I also cannot get past the perfume-y, chemical taste. It leaves a strange, heavy aftertaste on the tongue, as if I was just drinking some kind of floral perfume, minus the alcohol. The flavour is okay, but nothing that would keep me coming back for more. I like that it’s not as heavy in the creamy department as some oolongs, it’s a bit lighter and definitely peachy, but not as peachy as I would have hoped.
The first time I had this tea, my friend made it with boiling water and left it to steep for probably 30 minutes – It was the worst tea I’ve ever had. Flash forward to right now – I’ve steeped the tea at a toasty 80 degrees, 1.5 tsp, for 4 minutes in my perfect mug. Holy cows! The lemongrass is perfect. The rooibos, exquisite. The flavours in this tea are incredible, I just can’t believe it’s a detox tea. It doesn’t taste like there is much green tea in here, nor could i see any in the dry leaf – I just see it in my infuser, having expanded. Either way, I’ll be trying to keep this one on hand as much as possible. Who knows if it actually detoxes, it just tastes phenomenal.
Absolutely fabulous. It tastes like that yellow coloured Trident gum. I DID say that about Pitta Ayurvedic from DT, but this is the REAL deal, it’s so much closer. Lovely balance of flavours, very flavourful hot tea. Haven’t tried it iced yet. As Nat said, no chemical tones which I tend to get from Tealish.
I don’t know what it is, but I love this tea. It has this great lingering aftertaste that’s not too light, but not harsh either. Definitely don’t steep it too long, because the spices come out too much, but properly steeped, this tea is a delight to behold.
Do, however, keep in mind that I love licorice teas :-)
Man, I love Banana Oolong. I’m not too fussy on bananas, but this tea is so creamy and buttery, it doesn’t even bother me. However, the smell of the dry leaves and the tea itself is enough to make me vomit some days. I rarely drink this one because the smell is such a turn off! I’m always reminding myself that the tea is good, just don’t smell it! So it definitely loses big points for that – whoever heard of a tea that tastes awesome but smells nauseating?
It did, however, give me a chance to try out my new kettle! An early christmas present from the boy (he didn’t want me to wait!): http://www.cuisinart.ca/cuisinart_product.php?item_id=290&product_id=335&cat_id=13 … I’m in so much love.
I can’t get this tea to taste like it did in the store when I tried a sample! Sure, that was a month ago, but I truly thought this one was amazing. Now, it just tastes like some kind of gasoline flavoured lozenge. I’m trying the second steep, but I didn’t finish the first steep and I think I’ll just have to throw this batch out. Also, it smells like chemicals in my infuser, which I guess is why it actually smells like gasoline in my cup. Why am I trying to even drink this? Maybe I made it wrong? Normally DTs are a little more forgiving than THIS, though. I’m disappointed. Honestly, gasoline. No, I’ve never drank gasoline, but we buy tea based on the smell.
