151 Tasting Notes
mmmm i love the spicyness of this one, and how its calmed down a lot by the vanilla, and the hibiscus. Its a nice blend to bring in fall because I like it both iced and hot (prefer it hot though). Since I can’t have caffeine right now, its a nice substitute for my evening tea.. I only had a small bag of it because it happened to be on sale when i was in store, I will definitely be re-stocking this one :)
well.. i forgot to take my anti-biotics this morning, so on my little hiatus, i decided to have a nip of tea. I bought this right before i got sick, and didn’t get to dig in. I found out one of the davids near us is an extended flavour store.. so they still carry this blend. I don’t think I had it when it first came out because I was going through an I hate floral tea phase. Well, I actually do like this blend. Its lovely.. I went and bought an oatcake to dunk in it because it is totally a tea and cookies tea… I don’t regret this rebellion whatsoever.
Preparation
i’ll admit… i got this one in a swap having ulterior motives for it. I didn’t love this tea, when it was sold in stores.. it was okay .. i preferred others that collection.. anyways.. my buddy at the davids here was telling me how he made a tea pop out of this and it was unreal… he told me this about the perfect pear i had hoarded and shared with him.. and i tried it and it was unreal, so ithought he must be telling the truth about this.. i scoured long and hard to find this, and with success, got some from courtney. I took it in today and he made me a teapop.. oh my god… that is absolutely how this tea should be drank.. it was fantastic..it is the perfect taste.. it tastes like a big ripe watermelon… i’m so sad that its all gone now… lol my only hope is to somehow find the last dregs of luscious watermelon left on this planet..
well, i almost died on thursday morning haha… what i thought was like muscular hip pain, ended up being a kidney infection… i’ve had for seven months… they never caught it because i never had any pain in my back or symptoms of it.. i started to throw up blood and black stuff that looked like tar on thurs morning, and ended up in emerg on various iv’s filtering magic potions through me to try to make me okay. They’ve put me on an antibiotic that is supposed to counteract anthrax (which i guess tells me what kind of shape my body is in)… and with that. .i’m supposed to stick to (but limit my amount) of rooibos tea and herbals.. the caffeine and certain ingredients in various teas do not bode well with the medications… so i’ve been good up until today, but i needed some real tea, lol you can only stick to herbals and rooibos for so long before going crazy. I have about half a baggie of this blend left… its one of my favorites, and i’m hoping i can find a good swap for it ASAP! because shipping on it is crazy! … its a nice strong, musky blend, perfect for fall, and perfect for cheating on my ‘tea vacation’ ha ha hopefully i didn’t just do something i’ll regret!
!!! no dying!!! i have some herbals i’ll send you…. amaretto by david’s and pink passionfruit. no swap necessary. what about the rishi red ginseng herbal? i have a bit. red ginseng boosts the immune system.
message me if you want a delivery.
absolutely NO death!!!
lol thanks… i think the antibiotics are making me feel worse than anything else now! i just can’t believe i went seven months like that!
Be careful of herbals too. Stick to the rooibos or homebuyer and fruits or flavors (vanilla, cocoa and so on) but no added things like ginsing without asking the doctor. Why? Certain herbs that are normally harmless can be stimulating or can increase the strength (or decrease) of medications. For instance…I don’t drink grapefruit juice because it interacts with blood pressure meds.
Also, what exactly does this one taste like? I love the description but it doesn’t actually say what’s in it haha!
bonnie makes a good point. i will send you my red ginseng rishi on condition that you do NOT put it in your mouth without asking your pharmacist (doctors don’t know squat about medical interactions). it’s the rule i’m required to live by.
yeah, i don’t have the tin, i got it in a swap.. so i’m not even certain of whats in it.. it tastes like a strong orange pekoe … which makes sense because they only have four types of tea, an assam, an earl grey, a russian caravan, and this one… its a little bit more smokier than a typical orange pekoe and a bit stronger.. i love it…..
that makes sense about the herbals… i’ve mostly just been drinking the rooibos and then organic spearmint.. but i’m getting so bored of them.. although the way the black tea is making me feel right now.. i can see why i was told to stay away… i almost feel drunk from it! it must be the caffeine!
well, if your kidneys are impaired they may not be filtering things right, as well the diuretic affect could be playing with things. maybe call the pharmacy and confess and ask for advice. seems a little over the top, but it’s nice to have fully functioning kidneys at the end of your life, hmmm?
hahaha… this is true… i’m drinking some water right now to try and calm it all down… lol not regretting drinking this though!
I really liked this one!… although to me, it tasted a bit more like cranberry than pomegranate.. I made it hot and it reminded me of cranberry sauce on the side of a turkey dinner.. maybe the cooler weather made me think that? not sure!
EDIT!: This is actually one of my new favorite teas… i’m definitely adding to the cupboard.
Preparation
my allergies are quite bad.. i live in a lovely apartment building and had wonderful neighbours for a year.. up until about two weeks ago when they moved out and we got some new neighbours who love smoking pot constantly.. my eyes are so watery and runny, and i have never been so congested in my life.. so it was wonderful when I saw this in a package in my mail today! (thanks courtney) .. I can’t remember if i’ve had this one before, but i like it alright its a little chemically tasting even though its not artificially flavoured.. but its clean.. its clean and crisp and burns up some of the congestion… not something i’d drink if i were feeling 100 percent probably, but good to cure what ails you!
