This Bai Ye is a perfect example why I adore Dancong’s so much above all kinds of Oolongs. Those crispy elegantly rolled leaves are masterly produced and composed. This is the stuff you want for your Dancong sessions! The fruitiness of this fellow is massively overwhelming! Imagine a full on multivitamin juice and even more. First and foremost the

re is an overall citrus layer to it with a fine very subtle nutty undertone. But the real start is a basket full of tropical fruits like passion fruit, a hint of Thai mango, lychee followed by very ripe and juice sweet jackfruit plus a hint of very sweet non sour kiwi. Beside that you might also discover more local fruits like peaches, very sweet nectarines followed by clementines, some cherries plus a nice mix of red sweet apples & pears. You see that fruit basket is rich and fully filled with little delicious wonders. Later onward this sweetness also transforms a bit into something bakery sweet a bit like a blueberry muffin. The echo within the aftertaste is long and full on fruit mode. This is a magnificent example of perfection within the Dancong Oolong varietal.

Dancong’s live for their aromas and strong bouquets and those are indicators for good quality when it comes to this type of oolongs.

Already those dry leaves within the warmed up teapot exhale such a thick and deliciously mouth watering atmosphere of almond and hazelnuts with something fruity crisp. This mouth watering effect gets really

crazy after those fine rolled little wonders got soaked with steaming hot water. This mist fills within an instant the whole space around you with such juiciness of now more in the back almonds but majorly tropical fruit baskets starting with mango and pineapple switching to another country for cherry blossoms and pickled cherries! The bouquet of the actual liquor develops such a lovely buttery biscuit touch with a nice additive of lavender and a hint of bourbon vanilla to it!

The texture is a dream of silky creaminess nearly buttery with such a masterly well composed subtle nutty bitter layer as the starting point followed by a major impact of fruitiness like nearly everything you can imagine! Like a multivitamin juice. There are red sweet apples, pears, pineapples, lychee, mango, passion fruit, cherries and cherry blossoms followed by a hint of kiwi and an even more tinier echo of clementines and blood orange but there is also a fragment of grapes to be found red and green ones but also its dried compound counterpart of raisins! Forget about buying a whole basket of fruits the only thing you need is just this one amazing tea and you got it all :D!

The echo nearly never fades and stays persistent within your whole mouth region for a very VERY long time! Within this very echo this whole fruity aspects transforms even into something new – something buttery sweet ~ like butter biscuits! The later infusions also tend to transform into the more bakery direction like the actual scent of the liquor already directed to: Lavender butter biscuits with a hint of bourbon Vanilla plus a fair amount of lychees and the nutty perfectly balanced main base of bitter notes! – Damn that’s good!!!

Bio

Ahoi,

I am a tea taster and tea-blog author from Vienna. Since my early Childhood days I was always drawn to East Asian culture especially China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. It wasn’t a thing I discovered because of my parents or my environment – it was a thing that started on its own and spread its antennas into nearly every direction what Asian culture could deliver.

I felt in love with their history, movies, Tv-Shows, food, Anime, Videogames, tea culture – nearly everything. 2009 was the first time I visited Japan – it was a feeling of finally being home. Since that time I developed such a passion for tea because tea combines so many aspects I love. Taking photos, writing, Asian culture, the connection to mother nature and its history, the love for craftsmanship (Teaware etc).

Within 2013 I started my teablog called ZeroZen(https://zeroteazen.wordpress.com/) – the first couple of years I only posted content in my mother language German. But within 2016 I discovered Instagram for myself and found the perfect medium for my artistic output which is now completely and exclusive in English ^___~
