This is a tightly compressed brick! Not impossible to break up, but it’s a tough cookie. Since It’s tight It took some time to open up in the gaiwan. After a rinse and couple of dry storage infusions it’s Releasing some really nice flavors. I’m on my 3rd and 4th infusion and I’m getting some really fun notes. Like, wonton, cola, floral, Antique shop, dust, dirt and an old sailors uniform.

I like it.

This is my third Tea from Yunnan Sourcing and boy was I in for a treat.
It’s a subtle tea at first. Pleasant and thick but subtle. But around the third steep there is some interesting things happening. There’s a hint of astringency mingled with a spice like cinnamon or Cayenne pepper but without the heat. It’s barely there but it took me by surprise and now it’s the prevalent flavor in my mouth. I really am enjoying this tea and I feel like the quality of tea is surpassing my expectations.

I got this in the LiquidProust Regional Oolong Group Buy 2017.
Let me first say that I have come to really enjoy Dong Dings. Or at least I thought. I’m not sure what makes a DD-Oolong a DD-Oolong but I can’t stand this tea. I only infused it twice (plus a rinse) before giving up.

I did 4.5 grams in 150 ml gaiwan and probably about 190-195 degrees for 25 seconds.

It taste very medicinal like drinking oolong flavored cough syrup. There are some nutty notes and some sort of floral notes but overall it taste like something you take when you’re sick. Don’t get me wrong it’s not a bad quality tea, it just doesn’t work for me.

It’s a bummer because I had just had a similar experience with an oolong that was super off putting. It was the (unnamed mystery) ball / pearl Oolong that we got in the shipment. I guess I’m excited to learn about teas that I don’t like, since I haven’t come across too many.

That ball was a jingmai oolong ball from Beautiful Taiwan Tea and they are quite fantastic… sorry you didn’t enjoy it

It’s cool! It was just a bummer to drink two in a row that I didn’t like. I’m currently really enjoying the smoked Oolong!!! Super tasty. Thanks for the info and all the hard work you put in!

The smell! the warmed dry leaves have a fruit roll up smell, with slight movie theater projection room note. LOVE it!

The liquor is brownish gold with a mellow floral and sweet taste. I’m only on my second infusion so I can’t say how far it goes but it’s a really wonderful tea. Not too complex but it does have some depth.

This is my second tasting of this tea. I did a rinse at 165 Degrees and 4 seconds to help wake the tea up. it seemed to work because the first infusion was rich and mellow. The liquor is dark and the taste teeters between honey and muscat. I’m also tasting a wet dock on a lake. not alot, it might be a personal observation, but isn’t it all? Not super complex, but great taste. Feeling slightly caffeinated / qi.

I think I’ll be feeling it for a while… not sure if I like tht muscat flavor.

Holy hell, I’m getting tipsy at work! This teas is thick, and smooth and delicate and mineral, and fantastic.

Ok, so. I first tried this tea a week after I got it because the note said to wait. I brewed it too hard I think because it was bitter and Meh in flavor and feel. All around an ok tea. Nothing special. Then I brewed it up again about a month after getting it. I was at work and the water is 165 degrees there and even at lower temp it was largely the same experience.
I had been keeping the mini cake in it’s original wrapper in the original airtight pouch at the time of those first two steeps. After the second steep I noticed that I accidently ripped the seam of the airtight bag and for the the last couple of months it’s been living in fresh air with my other puerhs in an old bread box.

I remembered I had it and was like, i’ll take it to work and brew up 7.6 grams in my new Manual tea brewer (175ml). I wasn’t expecting much but a decent Puer.

I WAS WRONG! This tea is amazing. The aroma, the color, the flavor and oh man the feels.
Hit me so hard. I feel fantastic. I guess when He said to wait he meant it!

I’m bringing the water to a boil, waiting a couple min, adding a splash of room temp water into the kettle and then infusing for around 10 seconds.

I’m only 3 infusions in. I’m gonna have to take a break and eat lunch. but oh man I like this tea. Thanks White2tea.

anyone else cracked into it again?

Got this tea in the “RAW & RIPE PUER TEA GIFT PACK”.
First, the small coins are so great! I haven’t gotten a full cake yet so these feel like a nice start. I ran it through a wash and then picked the leaves apart, mostly keeping them unbroken. The dry leaf is floral and raisin. The wet leaf, like many ancient trees has a great mineral sent and still has that raisin or musk grape. The smell is surprisingly watery and mineral but The flavor is bright and lively.

They say 12 steeps on the package, It seemed like around steep 4 it died and I almost gave up on it. But the color of the liquor was still bright so I steeped it again and it blew up! The energy hit and the sweetness was soo strong like a thick brown sugar.
I’m on my 6th right now and it’s getting even better, my forehead is hot, the sweet is melt in my mouth.. the leaves are super full now.
It’s amazing how much this little coin expanded!!
