This place is fantastic. It’s hidden away on the boardwalk beside Granville Island market. Want tea served beautifully and steeped to perfection? This is the place. Clear glass tea pots are served with hourglass timers, clear glass teacups, and personal decanters for the milk of your choice all aboard a shiny metal tray. Traditional Italian gelatos are served up year round alongside average pastries and a limited luncheon menu. The bathroom is beautifully appointed, quite a contrast to the market bathrooms where visitors to the other Granville Island tea shop must visit. While this little shop could upgrade to serve afternoon tea, it would truly benefit from a greater offering of tea flavours, plus rooibos, and tisanes
I don’t like this place. I’ve walked in a couple of times and it feels like a great big warehouse. The window is always stuffed full of tea junk. It just doesn’t feel inviting. It’s too bad, because they’re in a great place to develop a strong following. I’m sure they sell retail tea (because they’ve been there a few years now), but I can buy tea anywhere. Having looked at their teas, I suspect they, too are making their own blends from the same old teas distributed by one company in Canada.
I love this space. Great for meeting up with girlfriends. The tea is not remarkable, unfortunately. The marketing of this brand is non-existent, though. In the tea-drinking “world” of Vancouver Murchies has a recognizable name to anyone over 40, but under 40, they’ve never heard of it. What happened to the business? It’s too bad, they could really go the route of creating a Canadian version of the tea drinking establishements of England.
I’m sorry this place closed. It was never marketed properly but I think the brand went wholesale. Oh well. In any case, I liked stopping here because of its location. Their other location is Teaz, I think. I just don’t seem to get there – even though it’s only a block away. I loved the bright, open space of this shop and Teaz one just doesn’t seem inviting.
Not my favourite place, but not terrible. I like the “choose your tea cup” approach. I love sitting with a pot of tea and some nibbles, but everything they offer is so large. I would go back here, but not regularly. There are definite changes they could make to bring their products and services to a better standard.
Very expensive. The surroundings are lovely but don’t make up for the prices. I won’t be going there regularly unless they lower their prices. The place was so empty.
The teas are, again, run of the mill. They blend their own from the same base teas as other tea rooms, just with different names. I find it a little pricey, but it’s fun to sit there and watch the world go past.
