An earthy fennel aroma accompanies a similar taste and becomes the overall flavour of the tea. The finish gathers an undertone of spices with a very light liquorice essence. Unfortunately, the orange and chocolate notes are nearly nonexistent, luckily the fennel notes make for an intriguing tea.

A bitter tea with strong toasted notes and a mild coconut finish. The flavour is more akin to a heavy dark chocolate, than a light fluffy snowball. However, it’s still a fairly comforting brew, that becomes a lot smoother and creamier with the addition of milk. The coconut could be stronger, but overall it’s a decent brew that is an unusual Christmas tea addition, due to the inclusion of coconut.

A musty fruity flavour, provided by the apples and hibiscus, hints at a faint essence of cider, that becomes a little tart in the finish. This is combined by a spiced element of cinnamon and cloves with a tiny tang of ginger right at the finish.

A musty aroma combines with cinnamon to provide a mulled feel. Whereas the actual flavour is a little more fruity with clear notes of elderberry. I’m not a massive fan of elderberry, so wasn’t too keen on this blend. However, I would definitely recommend to elderberry lovers! This was obviously a cute attempt at a festive fruit tea.

Inspired by a Nordic city that builds lifesize gingerbread every year, this blend is full of the caramelised flavours of rooibos and carries the warming tang of ginger. The other ingredients aren’t obvious, but if you leave to steep for over 4 minutes the ginger becomes stronger and increases the spicy peppery element.

A little disappointing, especially as Bluebird blends are generally really tasty! Wouldn’t recommend, but only because I have recently tried better Gingerbread Rooibos (Kettleshed)

The first thing to note about this fruit blend is… don’t get excited about the name. The name is deceptive. It leads to disappointment. In those first few sips you’ll be completely and utterly heart broken.

Yes, this blend contains coconut and, yes, it also contains pineapple, but it also contains a whole host of other ingredients that completely suppress the classic Pina Colada flavour you may have been hoping for. Once you’re over this fact, and trust me it took some getting over, it is possible to enjoy the fruity punch. Coconut, surprisingly, is not the overbearing flavour in this. In fact the hibiscus provides a fruity musk overtone that batters away the under notes of the remaining ingredients. It’s fair to say that the after taste is somewhat worthy of the name of this blend, but it’s very mild and takes so concentration to notice it.

To be honest, Pina Colada is a fairly good fruit tea that’s even better iced and could actually be a good base for a fruity cocktail. However, it’s not the best, with downfalls that include it’s inappropriately deceptive name and a tad too heavy on the hibiscus.

Ever since I first tasted this fruit tisane, at a Hope & Glory event I was kindly invited to, I’ve been a little bit in love.

The flavour is a little surprising, if you expect a red tea like this to have to have strong musty hibiscus notes. Whilst it’s true, there is that husky note lurking in the background, it’s not overly predominant. It’s followed by a tartness, that settles into a wonderful fruity mix, hinting at the orange and blueberries that are so artfully blended.

I’ve also had this iced alone, as well as in a cocktail (recipe available on the H&G website) and it’s also spectacular!

Overall, an excellent fruit tea and something a little different from the usual hibiscus teas!

A very fruity Christmas blend! Despite being spiced, the fruits take a leading role with berry-like notes, soft apple and hints of orange.

The initial aroma is a strong citrus and fennel combo. When steeped this develops into ginger and spices, making you want to just munch right into the tea. The flavour is a little more complex than the smell, with initial warming spicy notes, that include fennel and ginger, turning quickly into the honeyed rooibos. The finish separates into a tasty fruity orange at the tip of the tongue and a syrupy ticklish sensation of liquorice at the back of the throat.
