541 Tasting Notes
Life update: I got a 4.0 this semester! This brings my GPA up to 3.81. I’m getting there! I talked to my professor yesterday and wow, do I have a long road ahead of me. I’m still planning on studying bioarchaeology and he suggested 4 schools for me to go to; all of which are far flung from where I live now. It makes me excited and nervous all at the same time.
I bought 2oz of this recently and holy cow, I am going through it so quickly! I really love this one. It has lots of spice and coconut notes. I would suggest this for nighttime sipping.
This is a very beautiful tea. The dark, curly leaves are amazing to watch as they unfold. The tea was steeped for 1 min this time. The liquor is much more yellow/green than I expected. It tasted instantly creamy, like deep greens, and with a punch of spice/pepper at the back of the sip. It is a very assertive tea and I enjoyed it greatly.
mmmm I let this one cool a lot and it tasted even better. I love cool greens.
1st steep (3 sec.): Amazingly fragrant steep. This time it tastes of sesame, pepper, and very light hint of caramel.
2nd steep (4 sec): Wow, it is much darker this time! This cuppa was so smooth! It had a very creamy taste and the sesame really died down. Mainly tasted of burnt sugar.
I’ve had 4 more steeps so far and they were all similar to the above. This is a wonderful, long lasting, and complex tea. A really great tea for people new to plain blacks.
Thanks Teavivre for the sample! I love the shape of dragonwell tea. This tea smells of young spring greens and peas. I love that crisp taste and smell that green teas have. I’ve been drinking mainly blacks and oolongs so this is a nice departure. I brewed this for 2 min. and it is very clear with light yellow hints.
Oh wow, this is such a good tea! The taste is bright, smooth, and just a bit nutty. I’m surprised by the mouthfeel of this one. It is much thicker tasting than I would suspect from such a light tea. I can understand why so many people love dragonwell! This one is a superb example of this type of tea. I would suggest it to tea newcomers and green tea enthusiasts alike.
I know that the reviews are pretty half and half on this. I think that this tea would be slightly better if they had added a black tea to anchor this blend. It is pretty flavorful and chocolaty to boot, but a bit thin. I have cut just about all chocolate/general snacks out of my diet at this point, so I drink this for fun. I have a whole lot of it so it’s good I love it!
I saw someone on here saying talking about loud sipping in China; so I tried it today and for some crazy reason, it does taste more flavorful. I can’t tell if it’s all in my head or what! It’s still pretty early, but I’ll be doing this more.
I love this tea. It is perfect for nighttime and has notes of spice, coconut, and an overall creamy flavor. It reminds me a lot of colas. The cardamom is very prominent in this blend. I love this one blended with the Fig Rose tea as well. ahhh.
Today is my final for Geology, so wish me luck!
This is such a good milk oolong! It is super flavorful, unique, and easy to make. I love how powerful this one is. You really don’t need very much to make a cuppa; which I really like. This milk oolong is far less floral than other varieties that I’ve tried. This tea lends itself to at least 4-5 steepings, even at the 3min. steeps I’ve been doing with it. This is on my must try list for new tea people.
I feel awful that I haven’t been around lately. But that seems to be how it is during finals! I’ve still been drinking plenty of tea so I will probably be back soon.
I got this during the winter clearance sale and I got it for such a steal! They ended up giving me much more than what I think they anticipated.
This is actually a really solid dan cong; too bad they aren’t offering it anymore. When steeped under Teavana’s parameters, the liquor is a darker brown/yellow color than other dan congs. It is instantly sweet, mainly a honey flavor at that. The roasted notes are much lighter today than I can remember them. This first steep does not really produce the rock flavors that I was hoping for, but that could be that my water was slightly cooler.
Overall, this was a really good plain/unflavored tea. I think it’s a shame that Teavana doesn’t focus as much on plain teas at a competitive price. I think that David’s milk oolong is comparatively good and it is much cheaper.
Yay, congratulations!
Did your final end up being okay?
Oh yes, thank you! I was stressing all for nothing. Got A+’s and A’s so phew. But I’m sure you know how it is. Constant stress with school.
Wohoo!!! That’s great! It’s always like that, get super stressed over nothing. My husband gives me a lot of flack about it. It’s not even school atm and I’m stressed about school! lol
It’s such a hard habit to kick, eh? No matter how many times you tell yourself to chill out, you’re still wigging out haha.
I know! I get really emotionally and I hate eating when I’m like that. It causes everyone around me more stress than I have myself! I think that at this point there isn’t much I can do about breaking that habit.
