I wasn’t sure what I would get when I filled in my PersonaliTEA profile, but I am incredibly happy with the results, this tea is delicious, caffeine free and I have been happily drinking it day & night. I really love floral, fruit and spicy flavors and this tea manages to have all of them at once. It’s so cleverly blended, the holy basil and chamomile come to the fore, but only just, the rose blends beautifully with the apple and apricot, there’s a citrus undertone and everything works so well with the spicy back end of the ginger and black pepper. I just love it!

drank Azteca Fire by Teavana

I was all prepared to be disappointed by this tea (after being very disappointed by Zoccolatte Spice, or however it is spelled) but I actually like it – I made it very strong, a heaping tablespoonful to 10oz boiling water, and both my first cup & the resteep have made both my nose and my tastebuds happy. The quibble I have with it is the whole “Azteca Fire” thing, that name makes me expect something along the lines of 52 teas’ stellar Mayan Chocolate Chai, full of spice and fire. Instead this tastes rather like a chocolate dipped strawberry. Yummy, but there are no Aztecs and no fire, just milk chocolate and berries. Neither flavor is particularly strong, but they aren’t regrettably weak either.

drank Rooibos Tropica by Teavana

I’m trying to think of something interesting to say about this tea, but struggling. It’s a light, pleasant, fruity cup, not wildly exciting or complex, but nice. For me that is something special in that I’ve never been much of a fan of rooibos, so anything that can get me to find it pleasant is a bit of a gem. I’m always looking for new caffeine-free teas. I think I will enjoy drinking my 2oz of this but the jury is still out on whether I will buy it again when it is gone.

I adore cardamom and I’m fond of Republic of Tea, so I was really excited to find this one. But it really isn’t that great – It’s nice and all, with plenty of cardamom and not too much cinnamon but it lacks oomph, or any sort of spark. It is pleasant in a quiet sort of way, with a spicy nose and a soft flavor. I’ll definitely finish the canister, but I won’t buy it again.

This one is definitely on the disappointing side. No matter how long I steep it it is just too insipid. There is a hint of apples and spice, enough to make me want to drink something appley and spicy, but it just doesn’t deliver on its promise. It is not entirely flavorless, but far too mild to make me happy. I might eventually finish the canister, given that I’m on a diet and not drinking real apple cider much any more, but I would never buy this again.

This is a nice mellow cup of mint tea. It’s not a blast of peppermint, which I actually prefer sometimes, it also has spearmint and lemon balm to give it a rounded almost grassy base. If I’m not in the mood for a pure peppermint hit but I still want something minty this is a good alternative, it is minty in a much gentler fashion.

This is a lovely straightforward cup of fruit tea – very fruity, with a taste of sweet grapefruit and orange juice, not too tart, not too sweet, just the right amount of tang. It is peppy and invigorating. I can taste the rose, but it is subtle and blends well with the orange top notes and there is a hint of orange blossom there too in the finish. It’s direct, but not aggressive. Where it really shines for me is in a blend, it has quite a straightforward fruity favor that goes really well with lots of other flavours, I especially like it 50/50 with Teavana’s Peach Tranquility.

Profile

Bio

I’m an expat Brit in America, a lifelong tea lover in that British “milk and two sugars” way, who 6 years ago learned to love her tea without sugar, and now is learning to love it without milk. Two summers ago I learned how to make a proper glass of American iced tea. I’m new to indie tea and having an alarming amount of fun trying out all the amazing blends I keep finding! I used to just drink the black tea I brought home from my visits to the UK plus things like Yogi ginger, and now I am finding a whole new world of tea out there to explore.

Right now I’m mostly interested in flavoured teas as I find those the easiest to enjoy without milk and especially in teas with little to no caffeine as too much caffeine can really send my body chemistry into a tailspin. In the early morning I indulge myself with a couple of cups of something caffeinated but after that it’s noncaf all the way. My teacups are pint sized and I usually have one near me.
