15049 Tasting Notes
I’ve had this in my cupboard for a while as I had some bad experiences with darjeelings that put me off of trying this. Turns out? Tis one isn’t so bad. I’m not sure if its the fact that its second flush but its got a toasty feeling to it, though it does leave a dryness in my mouth that I’m not a huge fan of. Still though, I really should drink this mor often as its pretty good :)
So I’m pretty sure darjeelings aren’t my thing. Similar to most green oolongs, there’s a distinct flavour in a lot of them that I don’t enjoy. Stacy sent me this sample, and afterwards apologized because she realized that this wouldn’t be a tea I’d enjoy. That’s what I love about her – she tries to build relationships with her customers. :) I saved this for a day when I could try a few darjeelings at the same time to see how they compare. This one has a sweetness to it that I can get behind, but still carries that same Darjeeling taste. I think it’s the after taste that I don’t like. Well I can appreciate that this is a lovely tea, Stacy is right in that it is not the tea for me. Still though, I’m happy to have tried it :)
First cup of the morning – latte style. I will be really sad to see this one go as it is pretty much one of my favourite teas, especially when steeped in milk. It IS almost fall time though, which means i’ll have my chais as well since i tend to gravitate towards those in the fall. Maybe 1-2 more cups of this and then it’s all gone…
Morning cup of tea as i’m trying to also rotate through some of the older teas in my cupboard as i continue my sipdown journey. I’m hoping i can hit 210 by the end of the weekend, though i’m working for part of it, so not sure how feasible that is. I’m glad my parents picked this one up for me, as i’m not sure i would have picked it up on my own. This isn’t a bold cup of tea but it is a delicious straight black.
Preparation
52 tea of the day…getting closer to finishing off a few of the bags I have, so that’s nice. This one is a nice one to have for every now and then. It’s not something I want to drink a lot of, since I’m not a huge fan of coconut and though I DID discover in Cuba that I love piña coladas now…it turns out I’m less a fan of them hot ( but I don’t like the cold brew of this one) haha. Still though, I can understand why this one won third place :)
Teabagsipdown! Thank you for sending this one my way CHAroma! This one smelled pretty darn good. I just wish the flavour was a little stronger. I find with this one that the flavour is mostly in the tail end of the sip. However, the base of this one is pretty nice with no astringency. Overall a pretty good tea bag for those times when those are just the easiest :)
