2965 Tasting Notes
Last week was a week of False Spring- it was warm, perfect weather. I wore linen and a straw hat, and started to turn my mind to warm weather flavors.
But this is the part of the year where we get a brief, teasing burst of spring, and them winter come back. Its cold and rainy today.
Honestly, I don’t mind. I shall sit with my cup of warm tea, in my robe, and enjoy the cold while it lasts.
I feel that every time I update all I say is “life has been crazy and I have been very stressed!” This is currently true, but is also not a fun thing to keep saying. Argh.
This tea has been on heavy rotation in the last few weeks- strong, comforting, elegant and always appropriate. The little black dress of black teas.
Its been an odd week- and somewhat upsetting. Work has been crazy, and yesterday someone in my theatre company collapsed. She was alright in a moment, but it was very alarming! I’m glad she was ok.
This means that I’m not quite well rested today, and I’ll take this cup of comfort and hope that it really helps me get through today, which also promises to be long.
This really is such a sophisticated tea. Elegant, yet strong.
The best laid plans, eh? Saturday I was helping with a theatre company project, and was on my way home when I was involved in an altercation with nature that left my windshield caved in. I am amazingly unharmed, but I am still picking glass off everything I own, and it’s rather going to derail my day, as I need to get it fixed.
I spent yesterday curled up on the couch watching British crime shows and drinking tea, which is a nice way to recover from it all.
This tea is my attempt at a morning energizer. Its not bad, but I do find apple teas sometimes a bit bitter.
Well, thats sort of fitting too.
Oof! I’d spend a day curled up and recharging too! Don’t know if you have this in your area, but it’s been magical for me… mobile auto glass repair. They come to you and replace your car windows at your place! It’s amazing.
Hope you can get everything sorted quickly!
I went to NYC to visit my brother, and stayed pretty close to Grand Central Station. They have a fun little food hall there, where I could get some teas!
I do love picking up tea on vacation. It won’t take up too much room in my house, and creates a drinkable memory.
This is pretty nice. A strong ginger flavor, which is what I want, but not so overpowering that it takes all my focus from the tea.
A nice souvenir.
Its my birthday today, and I was looking at my cupboard this morning wondering if I had a favorite tea to celebrate with. And, rather to my delight, the answer is no. I used to think that I was somehow supposed to whittle my teas downs into the very best of the best. Now I know I can have a cupboard full of variety, for my moods, to try new things, to have fun.
Cheers to that! And cheers to this nice cup of Tower of London!
Happy Birthday! The sun is shining here in your honor! Hope a little joy surprises you when you’re not looking today.
Happy Birthday! Yes to variety – sometimes we just have a mood for something different to drink! Enjoy! I am hoping to get down to a master list of fifty teas and types. Some will be must have teas and others will be just “some sort of Earl Grey, some sort of blackcurrant, some sort of floral.”
Happy New Years Eve, Steepster!
This year has not had as much tea reviewing as I wanted (a goal for 2024, for sure), but this remains my favorite place on the internet. Thank you for being the best group of people ever!
May your water always be the right temperature for the tea you are steeping in 2024.
I haven’t had this one in years. It is so good even if a little finicky sometimes! Indeed, the water must be exactly the right temperature and time perfect!
Last week’s spring sure was nice, wasn’t it? Usually I’m tired of the rain by February but I always welcome the last reaches of the rainy season. The return of cold is not as welcome :P Stay warm and dry, Rosehips.
