I love mint (for tea) and fennel, and enjoy a good black tea. I get mint mostly, but that’s okay. I brewed about 1 1/2 heaping teaspoons of the loose tea in 2 cups of water, for about 6 minutes. I really like it – the black tea isn’t as noticable, but then, that’s good if I want a herbal-tasting tea with the “wake-up!” perk of a black tea. Very happy with this blend. Plus, it’s a local tea company, and I love supporting local :-)

It smells like cinnamon – yum! First few tastes were really nice – mild and cinnamon-y. Then the tart (apple or hibiscus?) kicked in – not as nice. I can see why so many people said “no hibiscus please!”. I don’t have a lot of experience with hibiscus, as I tend to avoid fruity blends. Might try it again. Not pleased about the need for artifical flavours – what, the long list of ingredients wasn’t enough?

drank Forever Nuts by DAVIDsTEA

Pleasant scent – sweet, not really nutty. Hard to describe… Added a bit of agave nectar, as it seemed to need a boost. Taste-wise, not nutty at all. Should be called Forever Summer or Forever Apple. I’m getting all apple here.

EDA: a 2nd brewing, as I’ve got a bag of this tea now. Threw in some loose vanilla rooibos tea for a base, and added a lot more of this loose tea to the pot. Adding agave nectar makes it better. Love the smell, but still not nutty. Very apple. Which is okay, if it was called “Forever Apple”. Needs more nuts.

Though not strong in the black tea, this is pretty decent. I added some coconut milk and a little brown sugar. I might buy a small pack (this one is a single-serving taster which I didn’t remove after brewing) of this sometime. Would brew it with more loose tea, and perhaps another bag of plain black tea.

Finally, a David’s Tea that I like. But then, I am a hardcore mint fan. They’d really have to screw up a mint tea for me not to like it (like add lemongrass & lemon verbana ahem Tazo Zen ahem). Not as amazing as my own home-grown mint, but still, quite drinkable.

This is the third David’s Tea sample I am tasting in one day. I keep hoping for something good. I can’t taste the rooibus at all – isn’t it supposed to be a rooibus-based tea? Nada for the lavender. All I taste and smell is an artificial-seeming coconut. Also, seems very weak. Maybe I steep more tea when I do it myself? Another disappointing blend…

A wee sample sent by a tea-lover. Like the smell right out of the foil bag – sweet, nutty. Brewed to a pale gold. Smells really nice from my tea mug. I steeped it for quite a while to see if it would get stronger, but it’s pretty weak. Perhaps I would need to make a stronger infusion (more dry tea). Not all that great in taste. Added a teaspoon of sugar. I don’t taste the white tea at all. Nutty, so that’s good. I will try this again, but make it much stronger.

I really plain black tea – this was okay, but had a decidedly different flavour from the regular black teas I drink. Not sure if I like it enough to drink again. This was one of several samples from David’s Tea that I received. I hope I like some of the others better.

Definitely a great tea – naturally sweet, heady vanilla, plenty o’ mint. Love!

Sad to say, the first tasting of this tea is “meh” – very weak, perhaps because of a lack of a black or rooibus base tea. Not strong or spicy. Will try again with some black or rooibus tea, and also with two tea bags. Added some vanilla coconut milk and agave nectar, but didn’t “decadent” it up much. Disappointed thus far…
