67 Tasting Notes
Of all the chamomile teas I had before, this one is exceptional. It doesn’t taste like chamomile very much at first ,on the contrary the scent is quite luxurious ,the taste tart and sweet ,at some point like yogurt with red berries and green apples, the texture kind of buttery too.The beautiful taste will keep you drinking, then you will find it’s truly made up largely of chamomile, you can sense the herbal part hidden behind all the time(in fact, chamomile may be standing out all the time in a delicate 、transparent way that you never thought of,or it’s been partly transformed by other ingredients ). The tea is actually a nice surprise for me XD
My daughter’s fiancé sent some of the Moment of Calm teas to me from Ireland and I found them quite nice. They are comforting when you are tired or not feeling well.
I think I prefer the traditional mint better, though this one is not bad.
I can’t remember the whole taste after a few months when I just had some samplers ,partly it tastes a little sour、 with the clearness of nettle I think. But what impressed me most is that nettle is such a magic herb, which makes your body cleaned and mind clearer.
This one is extremely gentle ,with its malty taste very soothing. I think the tea also makes a good base——sometime ago I bought some rooibos with fruity flavor, then I found the rooibos as base too bland ,I can barely sense tea scents there. So I mixed my fruity rooibos with Wales, and it turned out much better ,the mixed tea had become more solid and rounded .
Twinings is almost where my journey as a black tea lover starts,it introduces me to major black tea branches at that time. Earl was always a nice approach to black tea for me ,since it’s light and fragrant——the smell of bergamot is always delightful and energetic.
Bigelow is not so common in the city where I live, while Twinings can be seen in most large supermarkets and tea rooms. In fact I’ve never tried Bigelow before, any recommendation on this brand?
Bigelow was my first exposure to tea. I have soft spot for it. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it if you can’t get it easily and at Twinings prices but if you stumble upon it give it a go. Twinings earl leans a little towards lemon while Bigelow is slightly more orange.
Thanks~ Speaking of orange I think this version of lady grey (http://www.amazon.com/Twinings-Lady-Grey-Tea-Bags/dp/B000MPOG0I/ref=pd_bxgy_gro_img_y) is quite lovely, with refreshingly sweet 、soft and delightful orange aroma, and tastes smooth/light.
As far as I can remember, this one is quite different from the classic blue box of Twinings lady grey, but I can’t find its page in Steepster……
Several months ago I bought a 240-bag pack of this one and finished it within 5 or 6 months. That’s quite an experience for someone like me who always search stores for some new tea. The tea is truly extra stong and flavorful——so everytime I use more water, the taste gets even brighter and better.
There were times when I didn’t want my tea to be feminine (with pink or any lovely colors?) or childish (/sweet-teeth)——meaning I was not in the mood for gourmet/flowery/fruity flavored thing, when I just wanted to have the traditional kinds ,this one comforted me with its plain yet rich flavor, which reminds me of some nature of our family members, not so attractive at first glance ,then you just keep going back to them, eager for their embraces .(Forgive my strange expressions please :3
Well,go back to the tea,I think it’s nice to keep it in your cupboard all the time, your can use it as the perfect tea base for any beverage——the combination of 3 kinds of black tea is brilliant ,giving the tea malty ,smooth&clear ,raw yet bright and rounded characteristics
it’s been ages M&S have left France but they came back 2 years ago with 1 and now 2 shops but I didn’t have took some time to visit their shops…when I will I’ll have a look at their teas. Am I right by guessing you’re living in the UK ?
I have the loose tea version.Smooth ,fresh, grassy,a little fruity(reminds me of soft, juicy fruit like plum and dried prune at the same time ),flavorful and mild. The green flavor is actually strong, but in a very gentle and subtle way so it’s easy to accept. My first sip is bitter ,but all I get from then on is fresh sweetness of herbs itself.
At first I liked it,I always like the sweet 、delightful and lush vanilla and herbal teas like mint and chamomile ,but later I found out it’s just too much! The vanilla part is too strong and a little artificial ,making it too sweet 、too flattering like cheap love songs or artificial candies(?) .The herbs could have been very soothing ,but they didn’t fit in well with vanilla here, especially when the tea cooled down,I could feel the earthy dirtiness 、 filthiness or some unpleasant scents as if some food going bad soon. I may not want to drink this very much. But I think this could work well on me when they leave out the vanilla.
