I picked up a package of this tea on an impulse while at the grocery store. The package says:
“Metabolism boosting green teas have shown to aid with weight loss. This powerhouse has been carefully blended with sweet orange and ginger. A little piece of heaven. Soft and smooth with powerful health benefits. also great iced.”
It sounded good to me and I bought it.
I prepared this tea today. While I can’t comment on its metabolism boosting claims I can definitely say this:
The clean aroma of citrus peel greeted me as soon a I opened the package. It smelled mighty good. I decided to make a full pot.
After steeping, I poured it into my mug and took a whiff of it. It was fairly subtle. Quiet, actually, with just a faint scent of ginger under the oranges. It seemed good.
I began to drink. It was pleasant, no bitterness , but nothing spectacular, either.
I drank the entire pot over several hours. I had it both hot and iced. As I said, it was pleasant but not the best by any means. Yes I will finish using the package, but no, I would not buy it again.

Interesting! I recently tried Buddha Leaf for the first time too. I think it was the Caribbean/coconut one that I took. Same thing: it was pretty alright, but nothing special. Prolly wont be getting it again. I guess we shouldn’t expect too much from grocery store tea? Idk lol.

Hi Mookit – BTW I notice that you are also from Vancouver. We probably bought it at the same place!

Kirkoneill1988

on your advice, i will not be trying this tea :)

Mookit

Yeah I think they only sell it at IGA :P Will you be trying the other ones? I don’t think I will

Mookit

Maybe we could swap a bit of each of our Buddha Leaf teas so we can try them without wasting more money, ha!

Kirkoneill1988

@mookit, IGA? is that the grocery store? i thought they all closed down

Kirkoneill1988

@mookit, sorry if that sounded rude :(

Mookit

Lol not at all! I think you’re thinking of Safeway. A few of those have starting closing down (I think). IGA is relatively newer, more organic-oriented.

Kirkoneill1988

@mookit, we used to have iga’s in ontario, canada. most if not all have closed

Mookit

Interesting, maybe they moved here from there haha

White Rabbit

Mookit you are not at all rude. Kirkoneill, there are a lot of IGA stores in BC. Also a lot of Safeways. About the Buddha Leaf teas – there are so many wonderful teas out there, we should all be drinking them and not these ones. We are probably paying more money for the fancy packaging than we are for the actual tea!

Kirkoneill1988

@White Rabbit, that’s weird and interesting. i had no clue there were still IGA stores in Canada

Mookit

Haha, true that! Life is too short to waste time drinking mediocre teas. :P

“The art of tea, whichever way you drink it, or whichever country you are from, has one underlining thread for all of us. It is the cultivation of yourself as you follow the ceremony of preparing your tea, the way in which you make your tea, how and where you drink it, and with whom. Making a cup of tea creates a space for just being.”
