This is an excellent tea and has everything I’m looking for in a black tea. The mouth feel is thick and warming. The taste is malty, deep and sweet, almost overwhelmingly so. There is a thick note of cocoa and an earthy aftertaste. It stands up to multiple steepings very well, both gongfu and western style. A perfect tea for anyone who likes chinese black teas.

Leaf aroma: Pungent earthy vegetal
Flavor: Very green tea like, strong liquor with noticeable sweetness resembling almost-overripe fruit. There is mild astringent aftertaste.
Wet Leaf Aroma: A bit like ripe fruit, much like the flavor of the tea

Initial thoughts on first steeping: My first thought was an oversteeped green tea, when it becomes overpowering and astringent at the end. However, did not reach such an undrinkable flavor. One can taste many complex flavors resulting in thinking it is oversteeped. Assuming this is very young, flavors would develop well I think.

Second steeping thoughts: More fruit-green-vegetal that suddenly drops off to a significantly sharper almost-but-not-quite bitterness mid-flavor mid-sip, with an odd dry feeling in the mouth afterwards. Very intriguing. From research on puerh, this sharpness would fade with appropriate aging. I have noticed about this time as I savor the tea, there is a strong warmth in my stomach after a little while of drinking. I’m unsure if this is from the tea itself.

Third steep: The sharpness is more pronounced but significantly shorter, but the overwhelming flavor has lessened a bit.

Firstly it smells great. Fruity and herby at once. Tasting it is a complex kind of flavor. Almost sweet, almost fruity, almost herby, but none off them all at the same time.

The body is very weak on this tea to me. The flavor is there, but it reminds me of a weaker chai tea. It’s certainly not bad, and for those who aren’t used to full-body chinese teas probably wouldn’t notice the lack of body here. The flavor is very clean and works well. It doesn’t stick to the back of the throat or anything.

I was pleasantly surprised by this tea. I’ve always been very wary around fruity flavors, as fruity flavors tend to become extremely sour to me. However, this tea provides a peach flavor without any of the sourness. The only issue is I don’t really taste/smell any jasmine in here. It’s still a delightful tea.

This isn’t as strong a flavor as other teas (say? David’s version) but the smell is amazing. You taste mostly the oolong tea, with an aftertaste of cream. I was quite pleased, though I wish the flavor was stronger.

Its flavor mostly reminds me of, uh, toothpaste. I guess from the mint. I can’t taste much else.

I got a sample of this from an online order. Opening the package, it smelled just horrible. It smelled like medicine, in the worst way. When I steeped it, the tea smelled alright but it was near undrinkable. The “creaminess” was more like plastic coating in my mouth. Later on I felt pretty sick and I’m under the impression it might’ve been this. I’m not sure if I just got a bad sample or something, but definitely a disaster.

This tea isn’t joking when it says it’s a cold tea. The dry leaf smells exactly like halls or some other strong cough drop. Upon drinking, I experience an immediate cooling effect in my throat and tongue. I wouldn’t drink this for pleasure, but it is probably the best cold tea I’ve had the pleasure to try. It’s not completely undrinkable or bitter or anything either, so this is an added bonus.

I thought that it would be far more overwhelmingly fruity than it was. Instead it smells mostly of fruit, the flavor being initial fruit before being balanced out by the black tea. I’m pleasantly surprised. I probably wouldn’t order more because fruity teas aren’t my thing (this came in a sample) but it’s pretty good.
