737 Tasting Notes
Finally got to pick up some of this tea! Sarsonator sent me a sample a few months ago and I loved it, ever since I’ve been wanting to buy it! :D Got my order today and I’m so excited to try everything!
This, I oversteeped the first time (surprise, surprise), so it didn’t taste the best. But second time I steeped it, I did it just under two minutes. Definitely not as strong as the first steep, but I got notes of honey and bread. (:
When I first tried this I thought it was super bready. This time it is pretty bready, but the honey balances it out more. Which is still fine, even though I’d want more of a bready flavor, but still really like this one!
Maybe if I steep it right the first time it will come out more like I remember it-haha! I will have to try it out!
Either way I am SUPER happy to have this one back in my stash! :D Going to be enjoying the rest of it!
Flavors: Bread, Honey, Smooth, Sweet
Sooo I was going to drink this on New Years, because well…I mean, just read the title, says New Years in it, so I figured it would be the perfect tea. But I didn’t feel well enough. D:
This is the last black tea of the night, a few days late, but it kinda counts, right? :P
Still as sweet and bready as before-man I loved this one! Wish it was available again. I’d definitely pick some up…well, maybe one day in the future again. Today it tasted mainly like honey. So good!
This was a sample sipdown. I stretched that sample out as much as I could because I liked it so much xD Thanks again for letting me try this one, Boychik!
Backlog:
Sample sipdown-yah! Well, kinda yah…Don’t know if this actually counts since I sipped this sample down the same day I got a 3oz pack of it in the mail xD But I’m gonna count it!
This one has really grown on me. At first I hated the dry leaf smell, but it’s kinda grown on me. Don’t know how much I’ll love it after 3oz, but since I’m drinking a crap load of decaf teas these days, it will be nice to have another creamy vanilla tea to add to my selection! Still pretty impressed by how well they blended this tea! Delicious!
Ahhh I am being bad tonight! I have had a horrible weekend physically and haven’t let myself drink any black teas. But I kept craving them all weekend, but it has been especially bad today….So…I had to give in…
But oh…It was worth it.
I have really been wanting to drink more of my Yezi teas lately for some reason. Wanted a bready tea today, and when I was looking back at my tasting notes of the these teas I have, this one was the closest to being a bready tea.
Got a lot of malty, creamy flavors for the most part. A very subtle hint of bread, but more sweet potato flavors than that.
Still a delicious tea. Had a couple cups of that tonight…I really shouldn’t have had any black tea, but…I couldn’t resist. Steeping one more different kind of black tea and then I will have to go back to not drinking them again till I don’t have to be jacked up on pain killers 24/7. I am happy I gave in right now…I’ll just regret it later haha xD
Sooo I got one of the most amazing packages in the world today from The Cookie Lady! I’m having a miserable week and getting this package seriously just made my entire month. I feel so loved and cared about, and I really needed that to cheer me up this weekend. Like I really don’t understand how on earth the most caring and thoughtful people happen to be tea people, like I really don’t understand. xD
I don’t know that many thoughtful people in person, my family is like pretty far from that for the most part, and I don’t have many friends in person anymore because the ones I did have ended up being pretty terrible. But the people I have known on here have just blown me away. Some of you guys are seriously so generous and kind, it’s just amazing! I don’t think I can really get over it ever-it just always blows me away!
Like just look, this seriously made my day:

And now I am drinking Blueberry Bundt, because The Cookie Lady had originally sent me a sample of it, and I kept telling her how much I loved this tea, and she sent me a whole tin! I’m so excited-like this…ugh, I can’t even explain. xD This just really makes me happy!
As for how the tea tastes. Fresh. Sweet. Fruity. And like pastries!
Delicious as always!
Thank you soo much The Cookie Lady! You are amazing!
So sweet! My family isn’t big on these types of things either, and I got such lovely gifts from tea peeps. Made my holiday!
Been drinking this again this weekend. I definitely prefer the black version of this tea better. And I feel that the black tea version of this is much stronger and re-steeps better.
This one, if you oversteep it is like sugar and wood. And if you understeep it it’s a very light sugary taste. So you have to get it just right.
Then it will be a fantastic tea!
Yesterday I oversteeped it on accident.
Today I understeeped it. Twice. xD
So maybe tomorrow I’ll get it just right!
Sure hope so!
But yeah, probably won’t buy more of this after my 2oz is gone. Really do like that brown sugar taste though, but the black tea version is much better!
Flavors: Brown Sugar, Sweet, Wood
Ever since I heard that there is Valerian in this tea, that apparently makes you really tired, I wanted to try it. Because I’m all about relaxing teas right now. xD
So I tried it the other night, and of course, it didn’t make me any more tired than I already was. xD That was disappointing. I mean some people act like Valerian in teas really knocks you out. I was really hoping it would do that to me, but…things never really work for me that works for everyone else, so I shouldn’t be surprised.
Anyway, the taste isn’t too bad. Dry leaf smells strongly of spearmint.
The taste is almost the same as the smell, except it also tastes faintly of lemongrass. I read other tasting notes mentioning that. But it just was kinda a weird combo when I experienced it. xD Oh well.
I will have to try this again, maybe next time It will work better!
Flavors: Lemongrass, Smooth, Spearmint
I’ve found that when you really expect something to make you sleepy, you’ll never get sleepy because your mind is preoccupied by constant evaluation of whether or not you are in fact getting sleepier, meaning your mind doesn’t relax enough to become sleepy. At least, I feel like that’s how it works for me. When I don’t know something is supposed to make me sleepy or am distracted from constantly thinking about it, I’ll be that person who gets knocked out by it ;)
Sometimes Valerian Root teas knock me out, sometimes they have no effect. I drank one last night after waking up in the middle of the night, it didn’t help me either.
If the taste of the tea “isn’t too bad” there is probably not much Valerian Root in it, that stuff tastes terrible.
When I want to use valerian as a sleep aid, I add a dropper full of valerian tincture to a cup of hot herbal tea, or sustain squirt it under my tongue. There’s never enough of the actual herb in a cup of tea to really do the job :)
Now THAT’S self-medicating!
Backlog:
This was the first tea of the year! Had expected it to be a black tea, but didn’t feel well enough to have a caffeinated tea. So after a couple hours of being awake and thinking about what tea I should drink I decided to drink this one!
Apparently I’m back to drinking tons of this tea all the time because this whole week I feel like I’ve been drinking tons of it. xD
Ah, well nice tea to start out the year with. Hope everyone is having a great year so far! :D
As someone who isn’t a ginger fan this is a hard tea to like. I imagine if I did love ginger I’d like this more. I like the certain bready quality it has to it. Reminds me of eating a gingerbread man which I love. Theoretically I would love this tea since I love gingerbread men so much but…I don’t know…in tea form there’s just too much ginger for me ><
If there was more bready flavors in this tea I’d probably fall in love, but for right now I’d just say it’s okay. Definitely not horrible. It’s drinkable. Glad I got to try. Just wouldn’t drink again.
Thanks for the sample, Albertocanfly! I’ve actually wanted to try this for a while, just haven’t yet!
Flavors: Bread, Ginger
