737 Tasting Notes
Got a sample of this from EmilyGee! Have wanted to try it…that DavidsTea fan group on FB makes me wanna try tons of their teas because apparently they are amazing.
Well…
That’s definitely not the case in my book. xD
Just like with every other tea company, I seem to only like a few xD
I had high hopes for this one, but of course it was dashed when I took a sip of it. The steeping aroma smelled really sweet and fruity.
But the black tea base totally overruled. Wasn’t sweet at all. I didn’t even over-steep and it was just bland. Tasted faintly of blueberry but that wasn’t enough. Bummed out this wasn’t as good as everyone says! :( Glad I tried though. Thanks, EmilyGee!
Flavors: Bitter
Got a sample of this from Nicole in our swap a couple months ago!
Holy Shanghai. Not at all what I expected!
It’s super smokey! Tastes like a campfire. Feels like I’m the only one who gets smokey notes. Totally threw me off. 0_0 Not a fan at all!
Glad I got to try though, I might have tried buying this one before!
Thanks for the sample, Nicole!
Flavors: Campfire, Roasted, Smoke
Sometimes I get smoke from the black bi luo chuns but not from this one yet. I didn’t get any from Whispering Pines Golden Snail until recently I don’t think. But my last 3 cups of it were pretty smoky. I think tastebuds just vary from day to day. :)
Got a sample of this one from AllanK in our swap. I didn’t know what a praline was so I never picked it up and All I heard about it from people was that it was gonna be nutty, so I passed.
That was a mistake.
I regret not buying this so much!
It’s absolutely delicious!
It’s bold and rich. The main flavor is a creamy caramel. The base tea gives it a strong malty flavor which I love! Has a tiny bit of nuttiness, but not much at all.
It’s not bitter at all, and while it’s very rich it still has a certain sweetness from the caramel flavor.
This was so much better than I thought it would be. It’s crazy good. If this were available still I’d stock up on it. Seriously so so good!
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to try this incredible tea, AllanK! Another win from Butiki!!
Flavors: Caramel, Malt, Nutty, Sweet
Got this one from Veronica from the Christmas card exchange in December! Reminds me a lot of Lupicia’s Cookie Lots of cinnamon and cookie flavors. I think I like Lupicia’s version the best because it’s a lot richer and just better overall in my opinion.
This one is still good though! Happy to have tried it! :D
Thank you for the sample, Veronica!
Flavors: Almond, Cinnamon, Cookie, Pastries, Spices
Holy Shanghai. This is way too strong for me!
Tastes like a really bitter coffee. 0_0
Oyyy not a fan! D:
Thanks for the sample though, The Cookie Lady!
Flavors: Bitter, Coffee

Sipdown!!
Been taking this tea to work with me in the mornings lately. At first it did well in a travel mug, but after a few days the flavor started fading. It’s been a year since I bought this tea, pretty sure I got it in January or beginning of February. So wasn’t expecting the flavor to fade so fast. D: I had really enjoyed this one in the past! Bummer it wasn’t very good for the last teaspoons.
This is probably my biggest sipdown so far-2oz, and I had only given like two tsp away of it in a swap! I’m proud of myself for finishing it! I had forgotten about it for a little while there.
Wouldn’t buy it again because there are much better jasmine teas out there, but was nice for when I first got into tea! (:
Flavors: Orchid

Got this one from The Cookie Lady when we met up at Disneyland last month! Wasn’t really sure if I’d like this much since it’s Celestial Seasonings and i just wouldn’t think they’d make tons of teas I’d like. xD That sounds mean I realize. But I just don’t usually have high expectations for bagged teas!
This one totally surprised me though!
The strawberry flavor is super strong. It’s kinda bread-y, almost like a pastry. It reminds me of a strawberry pastry.
You don’t even need added sweetener in it! It’s delicious just how it is! I would totally pick up more of this if I saw it in the store anymore…just not sure that they make it anymore :( Thank you soo much for letting me try this, The Cookie Lady!
It’s a win in my book! :D
Flavors: Bread, Pastries, Strawberry, Sweet
It’s actually a brand new one! It comes in this really pretty rectangular tin. It’s pink and yellow, so I doubt you’d like the tin (hahaha) but there were two other flavors in different colored tins I think. Maybe like a red velvet flavor and something else. I mostly bought this one because I wanted the tin :)
Really? Where did you get it at? :O Haha wow did you just take all the tea out to use the tin for another tea? XD
I got it at Target. Actually, all of the What-Cha samples you sent me are currently hanging out in the tin :) It’s a pretty big one, so I’ll probably use it for other samples later rather than a loose tea.
I just bought this! Came on here to check for reviews before I open since I see rooibos in the ingredients.
Another one from Teri! So I didn’t think I’d be a huge fan of this one because it says it tastes like a fireplace on steepster. xD But it also said it tasted like chocolate, so I wanted to give it a shot.
This one is really not for me. xD Doesn’t taste like a fireplace but it does taste like wood and something else that I can’t really pick out. The weirdest thing about this tea is that like at the end of every sip I taste sweet potatoes. And the aftertaste is totally sweet potatoes. It was the weirdest thing. That part made it a lot more bearable. I even almost finished that cup because that sweet potato note made it bearable. xD
Very odd tea haha
But glad I got to try. Thanks, Teri!
Flavors: Sweet Potatoes, Wood
Another one from my Tao Tea Leaf order!!
Was kinda expecting this one to be chocolate-y because the last Golden Monkey tea I tried was really chocolate-y. While I like chocolate notes in black teas, it’s really not my favorite. So I am really glad that this one surprised me!!
The main flavor was sweet potatoes which is one of my FAVORITE flavors in black teas! Wasn’t super sweet, but still was pretty spot on. There was some notes of malt here and there to make it taste more bold.
Ahh! I am going to really enjoy this one! :D It’s a great tea that everyone that orders from Tao Tea Leaf should try! :D
Flavors: Malt, Smooth, Sweet Potatoes
Mmmmm!!
This tea is delicious!
I over-steeped it for a couple minutes and it didn’t turn bitter at all. It was perfectly fine! I love the bready, pastry quality to it. Gives it kinda a creamy texture. And the cinnamon in it isn’t too over-powering. It’s delicious! Great desert tea!
Thank you soo much for letting me try this one, and giving me a generous sample, The Cookie Lady!! You’re the best!! :D :D
Flavors: Bread, Cinnamon, Cookie, Pastries, Smooth, Sweet
if it makes you feel better i’m with you on this one…i don’t understand the love everyone has for it
I think I loved it because of the smell and also because it was so sweet when I got it to go. But I really don’t care for stevia, and I also don’t care as much for this tea anymore.
i like the blueberry tea from uh…….. crap well now i’ve forgotten. It’ll come to me eventually
Hi! Can you post a link to the davids tea fan group? I can’t seem to find it!
