2291 Tasting Notes
I think this weekend might be a “get through all the green tea samples” kind of weekend!
This is from MissB. Thank you!
And omg, this is actually really good. Super floral mango/tropical goodness. Yum!
Since I don’t love green teas, I wouldn’t get this again, but if you do and this tea is available, it’s definitely worth a try. There’s no coconut in this tropical tea. :)
Preparation
Ohhhhh yum. Had to pull this out since Fjellrev posted about a coconut oolong.
Normally I like this one with milk, but I’m all out. Instead I added a tiny bit of sugar. It’s like the filling of a Bounty bar. Delicious sweet coconut candy, and the oolong base is lovely as well. Floral, a little green, somewhat oolongy. :D
I have one more serving of this left. Definitely will need to get out to SOKO in the new year to stock up on my couple favourites from them!
(I’ll probably get another steep out of the leaves as well. They’re huge and delightful!)
Preparation
A friend of mine got me the herbal tea sampler as a bribe for something she didn’t need to bribe me for.
So of course I have to try them all!
This one smells pretty good. A little cherry-amaretto, along with the hibiscus.
Unfortunately the flavour is almost all hibiscus. I think this might do better as a cold brew.
Actually, it’s even doing better as it cools.
Not bad, but not something I’d seek out.
Preparation
I… cold steeped this one, and I’m not really sure what I think of it. It’s certainly refreshing and fruity and almost tastes candy-sweet (no sugar added!). But there’s something about the flavour that makes me pause.
I’m going to have to try this hot as well, just to see what happens. It smells good, and I think the fruit flavours are good, I just think that maybe cold steeping rooibos isn’t quite my favourite.
I think my thanks go to MissB for this. I foolishly didn’t write it on the bag.
Preparation
YES. More of this tea from MissB!
Definitely blackcurrant. I knew it was hibiscusy, so I preemptively added some honey. Even with a 3 minute steep I could see the thick hibiscus steeping and sinking to the bottom of my mug. Hahaha.
Mmm. Yup, I still like this one. Would definitely buy it if it were available here. It would be great as a cold brew, and is pretty good hot. Too bad blackcurrant isn’t really a “thing” here in Canada…
Preparation
Yeah, blackcurrant is massively ubiquitous in the UK – I do notice it’s in so many things here, as opposed to back home in Canada. Also rhubarb: how I made it to my late twenties without a regular source of rhubarb yoghurt in my life is beyond me! Is there any rhubarb-ness to the tea?
From MissB.
Whoa. This smells so good as it’s brewing, but drinking it, it’s pretty much just hibiscus. I even added some honey, and it’s super mega sour.
I wish it was truly more strawberry. I think I liked the cranberry raspberry tea better.
Preparation
Another tea from when I visited Sil. Also probably from VariaTEA. :) Thank you!
It’s super citrus. Almost candied peel, I think. Black tea base. I added a tiny bit of sugar – maybe 1/4 tsp – just to brighten it a bit. I don’t want to risk milk, because of the citrus, but if it didn’t curdle that would be really good. Like a grapefruit orange julius tea.
Yum. Super glad I got to try this.
Preparation
I do that too keychange! But this one I really wasn’t sure and I didn’t want to ruin my only cup if it didn’t work.
