Having this hot today.

Not really a good alternative for a caffeinated beverage, but it does taste divine.

Yum.

Haven’t written about this yet, but damn, I love it too. Probably the only thing I’d actually want to re-order from them (although I’ve yet to still try that melon oolong!).

Sil

after 200g? of it…i’m taking a break…but i do have 1 cup left first, and then i’ll hold off ordering it again for a bit hahaha

OMGsrsly

Melon oolong is quite similar, but it’s oolongy instead of rooibosy. Hahaha.

Equusfell

I feel like melon oolong also has a kinda greasy mouthfeel too. It doesn’t taste artificial, it just feels that way. I really wish they still carried any of their chestnut teas (besides the chocolate one). I crave those this time of year :(

MissB

Yep, same boat as Sil. :)

OMGsrsly

That is disappointing, Equusfell… Chaud les Marrons is a favourite of mine. :/

Cold steeped overnight.

OMG SO GOOD.

SO SO SO GOOD.

Why did I not believe people about how good it is?

Thank you SO MUCH, MissB!

Preparation
3 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML
MissB

It really is an amazing tea. For some reason though, I wasn’t enjoying it any more, so I’m glad you are!

Marzipan

I love it mixed with black tea.

OMGsrsly

OMG I am SO enjoying it, MissB. :D

I might have to try that, Marzipan!

drank Noël Nouveau by Mariage Frères
2291 tasting notes

Sample from MissB! Thank you!

It does indeed smell like Christmas. All the spices. Something baking in the oven.

However, it fails a little with taste. Something about these MF greens just doesn’t work. I steeped pretty low, yet it’s still turning drying as it sits. Plus, there’s a LOAD of clove in here so my tongue tingles a little. :)

It’s reminding me of that Celestial Seasonings tea… the mandarin and clove one. But with green tea instead of hibiscus as the base.

I really think this would have been better as a black tea. Noel a Paris has similar flavours but not the same.

I’m glad I got to try it, but I think I’m going to be passing the rest of my sample on. :D

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 2 min, 45 sec 3 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML
MissB

Yea, I don’t know what to do with mine. All I wanted from this was more of a… whatever the Noel MF was that I gave you eons ago. A black, more chai-like, with Christmas flavors. Le Sigh. Ah well. Anyone else want some?

OMGsrsly

Noel a Paris? I haven’t even opened the tin. I’ll set some aside for you though. It’s so good, but now I have a full tin of it and 1 1/3 tins Chandernagor. Haha. :D

drank Kiwi Lime Ginger by Tea Forte
2291 tasting notes

Hmm. I’m not sure about this tea. I chose it this evening because it’s kiwi lime GINGER on the packaging. But I’m not smelling much ginger. Just an intense lime-fruitiness.

Oh, that is interesting. I wouldn’t say it’s the best rooibos, but it’s not terrible. It is definitely lime, but an unexpected lime. It’s not candy so much as it’s peels without much pith. There is some ginger, but instead of being spicy ginger, it lends a warmth to the lime.

It’s also fruity without being identifiable (by me) as kiwi.

So not bad, but not that spectacular either. I’m glad I had a chance to try this.

Yum.

Thank you, Sil.

Edit: Did no one else get this tea other than Sil and Kittenna?!

Indigobloom

Looks like Kittenna had some. Must have been before I got there!

Plunkybug

Never even heard of it.

keychange

Haven’t heard of this either!

MissB

Not I.

OMGsrsly

Oh wait. Read the note before you post. This one was not a thanks MissB one. But still if you’d like to try I’ll give you the rest of the sample. Hahaha.

OMGsrsly

I’ve had more of this today. Yum yum yum.

I swear I’ve had this before. And that I was able to find it in the database. But apparently not.

Tea from MissB.

Floral citrus spice tea. I guess that makes sense, due to the “Christmas” theme.

It’s… alright. I’m not sure this is really what I wanted right now. It’s somewhat clovey with orange peels and lots of rose petals. So it’s quite floral. I think I would have been happy with Chandernagor, but that was underneath this, so I pulled this out.

Thanks for sharing, MissB!

Edit: Found it in the database. D’oh.

Om nom nom. This is so good.

So, so good.

I wish there was a black tea version that was easily available for me. :)

Yup, another tea from MissB and Sil. Thank you!

So. Flowers, curry something, pineapple, green tea. Again, this smells intensely fruity when dry. Steeped, it also smells fruity.

Oh, and this is good. Wow. I don’t know that I’d pick out the pineapple, but the blend with the different flowers is really nice. I think it’s the osmanthus. Because “curry” flavour? IDK that I’m getting any.

Thanks for sharing! (I see I had planned to cold brew this. Whoops. Next time I need to write notes on the labels.)

Another green tea from MissB.

Sadly, not something I like. It smelled nice and sweet and fruity when dry, but tasting it now it’s just… lacking. The green veggie water flavour is fairly mild, but it’s mostly what I’m picking up from the sample.

Oh well. Thanks for sharing, MissB!

As I’m trying to settle on a Yunnan Sourcing order, and the buckwheat they carry is only available in 250g increments, I thought I’d try this as an eggnog latte.

Because I’ll drink almost anything as an eggnog latte.

And! It is delicious. The roasty toasty grainy flavours go so well with the creamy eggy nutmeggy flavours.

The looks are rather… non appealing. The liquor of this buckwheat is a pale murky yellow, and adding the milk to it really does not improve its visual appearance. Oh well.
