2291 Tasting Notes
Seriously, Steepster? THREE copies of this tea? Isn’t that a little excessive?
This sample is from Sil, and I kinda hate her for it. This is sooooo good! Rich, a little earthy, chocolatey. YUM. I could probably stand to steep it a bit longer, but since it’s a puerh blend I can try that in a second steep.
How do I get more?
;)
Flavors: Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Earth
Preparation
OMG.
I’m not worthy.
This is SO FREAKING GOOD! And I don’t even like melon! But it’s so good! What is up with my taste buds?!
Thank you SO MUCH, Sil, for sending this to me. And thank you to Anna for infecting us with the Lupicia bug. I totally need more of this. I could drink it all the time.
(Delightful floral green oolong with a slight touch of bitter. Amazing melony flavour. YES.)
Flavors: Floral, Melon
Preparation
Hahahahahaha I was hoping this would be the case since you were all like FEH! Melon! I spit on you! Booooo melon.
It’s good, right? I have (had?) the melon white and the golden honeydew (not tried yet but smells amazing) and think that this can only be as good.
Why am I trying this tea? Because Sil and Anna are mean, that’s why. They should know that I have to try almost all the teas (almost because there are some things that are just “no’s”).
So it’s pear. Ripe jelly bean pear. And rooibos. Yep.
It’s not terrible, but I really dislike ripe pears. Please give them to me when they are hard and crunchy. Thanks.
:)
Flavors: Pear, Rooibos
Preparation
Haha. I got there 10 min before closing so I just bought 50g. How should I split it? Will you and Anna duke it out in the comments?
Uh however/whatever makes sense? I’m happy for a couple cups, half….whatever. I feel like Anna gets more because it’s harder for her to get it…..you and I are “closer” lol
Closer as in on opposite sides of a huge country rather than country + ocean? :D I’m having fun packing up MORE for you. Hope you’re ready for that.
It’s not terrible, but it’s not for me. Even steeping at a lower temp and starting the 2-min countdown as I started pouring the water, it’s still leaning towards astringent and bitter.
The strawberry flavour is nice, but somewhat weaker than I expected from the scent.
I have one or two more of these, and I’ll drink them, but they definitely aren’t for me. Iced caffeinated tea isn’t something I love to drink all the time, so IDK what I was thinking when I bought the SBTs.
(Steeped in 2 cups of water, added ice and cold water to make 7 cups.)
Flavors: Astringent, Strawberry
Preparation
Another lovely sample from Shmiracles. :) I adore the name of this tea. So much fun to say.
But.. poppy, biscuit and marzipan flavours? What? This is a sweet, fruity, floral tea to me. Are my taste buds confused due to the coffee I had earlier? What is going on? I LOVE marzipan, so why can’t I taste it?

Preparation
Woo! I was right! From my sniff, I decided it was apricots and peach. :)
Taste-wise, it’s not as good as others I’ve had. I tend to prefer apricot or peach mixed with ginger for a tea, so that might be why. I also don’t get any caramel, which is interesting, as I almost always get the caramel in these blends! The base is also quite prominent on this tea, and it has some flavours I don’t enjoy. Almost… cardboard. Under the fruit. Hmm. :/
It’s also not what I’d think Elven Nectar would taste like… it’s been so long since I read the books, I have no idea what the description was. But I’d think a melomel, but potentially not fermented long. Maybe just fermented for some fizz. IDK.
Thanks for the sample, Shmiracles! It’s so fun to try all these fandom blends. :)
Flavors: Apricot, Peach
Preparation
I sniffed this one and it smelled cinnamony so I decided to give it a go.
Solid food is still iffy, so I’m supplementing my all-fruit “ice cream” with tea. (I still need to make congee…)
Floating apple pieces, you make me lol. Sadly the flavour just isn’t enough when I’m sipping it. It pales in comparison to my favourite chai, and it’s not different enough for me to want to keep it around. Maybe I should have steeped it longer.
Thank you for the sample, Shmiracles! Definitely one I wanted to try, so I’m sad it didn’t live up to my hopes and expectations. :)
Preparation
Oh Pairs, you’ve done me well.
I’ve really enjoyed this tea, and would like to keep an Earl Grey + something tea in my cupboard. Maybe you, maybe something else, it all depends upon availability.
Yum.
Preparation
It’s funny – earl grey on its own does pretty much nothing for me, but combine it with other things and it becomes sublime. I remember having this in the Harney shop in Manhattan and loving it.
That’s pretty much it! I’ll still have eg when I’m out and about, but I also tend to add milk and honey when I’m out. These extra flavoured ones tend to be delicious on their own.
I’m sharing this with my BFF because it’s tomato tea.
It’s so weird. So so weird. Tomatoey. A bit lemony. Floral. A bit weirdly mentholy astringent. My BFF says it’s like drinking the remaining liquid in the bottom of a salad bowl, with the tomato seeds and stuff. Or tomato stems. So green.
Weird.
So, uhh, thanks for the sample MissB! :)
Talk to Terri heh
