54 Tasting Notes
This tea was minty. Not a surprise to you? Well, I’ve been lied to before by tea names and promises! When first poured it did not smell good, but was fun to drink due to a strong tingly aftertaste. As it mellowed in the cup, my nose became less assaulted and the mint and black had some time to settle their differences. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Flavors: Mint
My first sip of this tea was a bit disappointing; it tasted like I’d made a spearmint tisane. The underlying black tea was very weak. After “over steeping” it, however, I found that I had a smooth cup of black tea with the refreshing taste of spearmint. :)
The second steeping is much more black tea. There is just enough mint to have a nice refreshing tingle in the aftertaste.
Flavors: Spearmint
This tea is a dark reddish color and smells wonderful. When I take a sip, there is a hint of orange and something flowery though the finish is a bit sour. I can smell the spice, but I don’t taste much of it. The last half of the cup was much more orangey, though no more pleasant.
I used to love fruity teas. But, since my taste has trended towards black, I haven’t enjoyed them. :(
Flavors: Cinnamon, Orange, Sour
I was pleasantly struck by this tea. It has a strong “black” roasted flavor, but I don’t find it unpleasantly harsh or bitter. I feel that roasted can be overdone and don’t like when it falls into the category of burnt-tasting, but this tea has it just right.
It is a tad bit sweet and still good cold. I think it would be easy to add too much sweetener, but milk might be an appealing addition.
