drank Currant Affair by DAVIDsTEA

This was such a disappointment! I was a bit off-put by the initial smell of the dry leaves but decided to try it anyway. As it steeped, I begun to get more of a blackcurrant and even blackberry aroma. However, when I drank it, the taste was very similar to what I would have expected from the initial smell. I was able to drink a little more than half the cup (barely) but couldn’t bring myself to drink the rest. I probably will not be trying this one again!

I popped by the store in the mall today on my way home from class. This was being served as a warm sample in store and I just had to try it! Warm it is very creamy and citrusy. I ordered a cup of this iced as well to compare the two. When iced, I did find that the tea lost a bit of its creaminess, it is still however very fruity and I believe the iced version enhances the fruit flavours. I am a bit surprised however that this was not released as a summer tea and was released at this time of year when they are getting into more traditional fall flavours…. I’m glad I picked up a 50g bag though! I will continue to enjoy this both warm and iced through the year! My only critique would be that like some of the other citrus and fruit teas, there is a bit of an aftertaste…this one is not so bad as to deter me from drinking it though.

This was probably my least favourite tea in the fall collection. I don’t drink coffee (…which is why I drink tea :p) and do not like the taste at all. I decided to try it anyways after my positive reaction to Honeydew Mate but unfortunately didn’t like it. I managed to finish the cup am not in any rush to steep another!

This is definitely creamy and smooth however, I can’t say I really enjoyed the actual taste of the tea. I find that sometimes nutty teas can leave a strange aftertaste. I will probably finish the 25g pouch but can’t say that I will rush in to pick up more or even be disappointed if they don’t bring it back next year.

drank Mom's Apple Pie by DAVIDsTEA

Best apple pie i’ve ever had! This is warm, fruity and very well balanced. I did not find the apple to taste artificial (like in some teas) so thats always a big plus. I really enjoyed this and will be sipping this all fall and even into winter.

This was the first tea in the new fall collection I had the pleasure of trying. Apparently, this is the most popular tea in the new collection and after trying it, I can definitely see why (or rather taste why). This tea contains a lot of warm spices such as cinnamon (so it basically tastes like a “liquid spice cake in a cup”). Perfect for fall and even into winter! I will definitely be picking up more of this before it goes away!

Plunkybug

This is my fave for sure…though I do feel it is more a winter tea than a fall tea.

I went in to the store yesterday and had to smell both this and Queen of Tarts. Both smelled so good that I could not decide which one I would prefer to try so I decided to have Queen of Tarts iced and to get about 15g of this to bring home and try it there. I would love to have tried this iced but I ran out of ice so I had to have it warm. Warm, this was very tangy, fruity and refreshing. However, to me the fruitiness tasted almost artificial. It was a good tea though and I think it would be good iced too. I will absolutely finish off the 15g pouch that I have and will probably buy 50g to keep on hand as well. :)

I tried this one iced for the first time yesterday. This is definitely a well-named tea…TART for sure!! I did enjoy it though. It’s really different from the other teas they have and I can’t think of one to even compare it to. Even though I enjoyed it, I can’t say that I “Loved it” or that I will be stocking up on it. I would love to try it warm too just to compare the taste and level of tartness. Overall I would say that it was a nice, and very sour little tea that I enjoyed but that I am in no rush to buy more.

I was very hesitant about trying lemon teas but after my positive experience with la la lemon, I decided to give this one a try. I really enjoyed this tea iced and will probably try it warm as well. The lemon taste definitely comes through but is not as overpowering as I would have guessed. I really enjoyed it and would definitely try it again. I can’t say I would rush out to buy it, but it is definitely a nice tea which I would recommend.

A little bit of backlog here: I had this one almost 2 weeks ago. I went in to the mall for a course and had to grab this on my way out. At first I was skeptical about iced lemon teas in general but then I had a thought that it could be like lemonade in a sense and smelled a couple of them. Out of the ones I smelled, this one smelled the best to me and also is the one I thought would’ve best iced. The smell of this is quite citrusy but much sweeter than I would have expected. It smelled more like lemon candies! I really loved this tea and plan to buy some! As I am again using my phone to write this and cannot rate, I will just mention here I am giving this tea a 90.

Bio

I am a tea fanatic and have also recently made the transition from vegetarian to vegan! I always have tea in my hand and in my overflowing cupboard!

I prefer black, green and white teas. I have recently discovered mate and oolongs. So far I’ve enjoyed them however, I have not tried very many. I am not often a fan of rooibos as I tend to find them overly woody but have found there to be some exceptions. As for herbals, I am only recently beginning to drink these on a regular basis (mostly iced) as the weather gets warmer, but these I am willing to try. I have not yet developped the taste for pu’erh.

I tend to only rate and review the teas I drink once (maybe twice if my opinion REALLY changes; especially if I were to have them prepared a different way). I currently only use Steepster for logging my reviews of David’s Tea although I do drink teas from many different companies. Every time I visit the store, I try something new in a cup to-go as I enjoy going through the tea menu and marking off teas as I try them. My goal is to try them all!

My rating system is as follows:
90-100: Wecome to my permanent collection! (worthy of a 100g tin!)

75-90: Definetly would drink again but maybe not all the time. I would buy a small amount (50g or less) to have once in a while.

50-75: I will finish the cup but not my favourite.

25-50: I will try to finish the cup but may not be able to.

0-25: Not my cup of tea…down the sink we go!
