drank English Breakfast by Twinings

Thanks to the Tea and Hookah bar, I have been drinking tea for the past two days. Last night and this morning I dragged out my tea chest and made myself some comforting English Breakfast prepared English style with milk and a spoonful of sugar.

I have about one more french press serving in my tin and then I will have drank two tins of this tea. I have a feeling that this will probably end up being a lifelong staple in my tea cabinet.

drank Smoked Maple by Shanti Tea

I have been going to a Tea and Hookah bar with my friends and getting a mysterious marshmallow tea. It is so good and creamy and tastes like marshmallows. A perfect relaxing tea for anytime. The trouble is that I didn’t know what type of tea it was.

Well, last time I was there my friend happened to know the worker there and got out of him that the “marshmallow tea” was their smoked maple tea with a touch of vanilla coffee creamer and agave syrup. Obviously I had to find the brand it was and make a tea note of it!

This one is going on my shopping list for sure!

I didn’t see that coming, a smoked tea!

I am graduating from a strictly herbal tea drinking to having some black tea! Hopefully it means that I’m at least feeling better even if my cough isn’t gone yet. I am coughing less and I am convinced that my cups of chamomile are helping with that because even cough drops weren’t working that well for a while.

Hope you are all better soon!

I’ve been down with a light cold/cough for a while now, so while I was out shopping for a family dinner I decided to pick up a box of this tea to see if it would help.

This tea is absolutely amazing and I don’t normally like most chamomile! The honey and vanilla gave it a little pop and the chamomile is surprisingly soothing. I don’t know what type of chamomile is in the blend, but I bet I would like this one straight.

I did add a little bit more honey to make it sweeter, but even when it is plain there is a pleasant taste of honey. This is probably going to be my go-to tea for a while. I think I am going to try it cold too.

So, my mother has some K-cups of this and she was complaining about it being too strong, so I decided to give it a little taste test. The verdict? It is a little strong. Way too strong for her without watering it down some because she likes her tea on the weaker side.

But it makes for an excellent hearty tea with some milk and sugar in it. I could see having this for tea emergencies or weeks when you are far too lazy to make tea. It happens sometimes.

I have grown rather fond of this tea. I discovered that the best way I like drinking it is hot with one level teaspoon of sugar so that it is not too sweet, but the sugar brings out the chocolate quite nicely. The mint is still mostly in the aftertaste and there is lavender all the way through. Overall, a nice fairly balanced cup once you get used to the lavender.

I was drooling on the beautiful teaware in their catalog last night.

drank Vanilla Caramel Chai by Tazo

This week has been a very stressful week for me. This past weekend, I managed to pick up this tea when I was sick with a headcold and the mix of vanilla, caramel, and ginger has been a dream come true to my sore throat and my morale.

But that wasn’t the hard part of this week.

Tuesday, I received news that my Alma Mater Sweet Briar College will be closing its doors for the very last time in August. People may think that a women’s college is nothing more than a finishing school and isn’t worth getting worked up about, but to many women (and their families) it is more than just a school. It is the place where they first found out that they can do more than what they thought they could do.

When I first received a pink letter in the mail during my senior year of high school, I was intrigued. What type of school would send out their material in a pink envelope? Little did I know that this letter was akin to my Hogwarts letter into a school that would finally let this shy, sensitive girl develop into a strong, independent woman. But, even more than that. When I was young my family moved around a lot. We weren’t military, but we had to move because of my dad’s job. I never grew up in a place that I called home because I was constantly being uprooted and having to start all over in a new place. My four years at Sweet Briar ended up being a place that I felt comfortable enough to call home for the very first time and mean it.

The Alumnae are trying to save our school because we all believe in a woman’s education. It is hard to describe a place where all of your ideas are taken seriously by everybody there. Sometimes, it is hard to get that in a regular co-ed college or university, especially if you are in the sciences or engineering. It may seem strange, but when you don’t have to worry about what other people will think about how you look, it is easier to remember that you are all there to do the same thing: challenge yourself and strive to become the best that you can be.

So, without dragging this on for too long, if you know of somebody who would like to help save Sweet Briar College, please feel free to visit www.savingsweetbriar.com.

Sorry for sounding a little bit like an advertisement, but thank you for listening.

I’m so sorry about the school! That is terrible.

drank Christmas In Paris by Stash Tea

I decided to try it with some honey and it tasted the exact same only I could taste the honey in it. So I decided to put some milk in it too since the box highly suggested both milk and sugar to make it into a delectable dessert drink.

It tastes the same as regular, just with milk and honey in it. Nice and warm and a mellow lavender and chocolate with the teasing aroma of peppermint. The only other way I would try this would be to blend it with some actual black tea, but it is nice as it is.

I am finally starting to get into the holiday spirit this year with only three days left before Christmas. So, when I was picking up ingreedients for pizza rolls for supper, I saw this tea and I had to pick it up. It had me at chocolate and lavender with peppermint as a nice add to the flavors. Also, I haven’t had a nice herbal tea in a while and I’ve been wanting to drink cups and cups of it before bed.

I steeped it five minutes and after the first taste, I decided that it didn’t really need any sweetener to bring out the chocolate flavor. I feel like this tea is a tease because when you smell it you can smell the chocolate and peppermint. It is a really nice combination because the chocolate isn’t a powdery chocolate like the Harney & Sons Chocolate Mint, but when you drink it you only taste chocolate and lavender. There is a really light brisk mint aftertaste, but it is mostly chocolate and lavender.

Overall, I do want to try it with a bit of sweetener just to see if it will bring out the mint more, but the tea itself is nice and balanced. The chocolate is bold enough to stand up to the lavender and the lavender itself is not perfumy at all. Best of all, the box art is just lovely and I can pretend I’m in a snowy Paris all I want with this tea by my side.

drank Chocolate Mint by Harney & Sons

I got a new tumbler during my work’s winter holiday party and it is good for tea so far. Keeps it warm and holds a little bit more than my other tumblers. I love having this tea with just a bit of honey because all of the honey melts into the tea unlike the plain white sugar.

This is the last teabag I have of this, so I am enjoying the minty and powdery chocolate of the tea.
