1847 Tasting Notes

Yaay, month later my Bird & Blend Tea Co. order finally here! They run of few tea bags I have ordered (I didn’t wanted to order sample package and I needed something to my collection)

Anyway; this is probably I was looking most forward to. Dunno why, raspberries + black tea sounded bit too sour, moreover coconut in – it is bit crazy blend; then raspberry leaves…

But it looks so lovely, maybe that was why I have decided to order it?

Anyway to the tea:
I had to mix the blend, otherwise I would get only raspberries and no tea. Shaking it inside pouch caused raspberries to break into individual seeds, but few bigger pieces are there too.

The dry leaf is not very aromatic; but brewed tea after 4-5 minutes was quite pungent.
Definitely I noticed herbal notes and raspberries, then with drinking I noticed creamy flavour and light sour notes – but pleasant. Raspberries too, and luckily no coconut. The base tea was present too, which I always enjoy in flavoured black teas and certainly it wasn’t overpowering the flavours.

In conclusion indeed fine tea, maybe I have expected more cake flavours, but certainly it was tasty and very enjoyable. Somehow simple, but very tasty for sure.

I have sipped down this tea I got from derk, thank you!

This is so nice cuppa; I took rest (gram and half, maybe two, not more) and prepared grandpa…

I think my last tasting note is just right (again). It is not that fresh, but still some grass notes were there, and it was actually tasty. I will keep 87, even it is maybe too high…

Flavors: Grass, Grass Seed, Mineral, Vegetal

Hah! I found one more tea bag in huge bags!

I did little shorter steep this time; and it was same, maybe little better.
Very fresh citrus notes, which were refreshing and genuine, mellow bergamot.

The taste of base is very great too, well present, bit smoky and citursy as well. Not overpowring the taste of citrus fruits.

Hmm. Treat!

Naturally it includes as well Moringa, but it is not in ingredients list.

Anyway… as I never had anything with Moringa before, I had no idea what to expect.

It turned out very nice — nice herbal notes with even nicer rose flavour. Rose wasn’t overpowering the base of Moringa.

So, herbal + rose flavours, quite nice. Aroma was very rosey, bit reminds me soap, but taste matter for me more.

drank Pomegranate by Birt & Tang
1847 tasting notes

Finished… but!

Old tea bag from huge bags…
But this one must be bad even fresh. It was dirty in taste, very drying, rather based on herbals than on actual fruit.

No notes of pomergranate, nor lemon, nor lemongrass, just nothing from those! It was green tea? No notes of tea as well.

I don’t know how it tasted! It was like drinking hot water with infused dirt from old country road.

Flavors: Dirt

I prepared second half today same way as last time (grandpa) and it is delicious and kind of relief not only of thirst.

Yesterday I was outside for first time since… 13th March? I don’t count shopping and working on our garden (or being there). Outside, with a friend – we decided to do little hike in the woods. It was necessary for mental health I guess.

Anyway… this tea; is smooth and tasty, easydrinking, not too complex to explore. But I certainly don’t need that right now.

4 g 10 OZ / 300 ML

Glad you were able to have an expedition!

Martin Bednář

Haha, expedition :D – it was just 5 km hike. Just to breath fresh air.

gmathis

I’m old. 5 km is PLENTY, thank you very much :)

ashmanra

Nice! I am so grateful to have a garden to sit in and work in, I think I would go mad if I couldn’t go out, but I am feeling ready to venture further!

Martin Bednář

I have garden too, pretty nice and big… but it wasn’t working for me already. I needed some new place to visit.

derk

I bet it was so great to go on a hike. A coworker invited me for a motorcycle ride up the coast tomorrow but I had to pass. He’s 19 (compared to my 37) and full of energy that I don’t possess anymore.

Martin Bednář

You bet derk! Make sure you go on fresh air too :D but I bet you know.

drank Mandalay Spring by Nous Tea

I have found last tea bag! Best Before 12/2019. Whoops.

Anyway, this tea was pretty boring. Apricots were gone, not much smooth… quite drying.
No floral notes at all, rather flat tea which reminded me mostly hay.

But maybe it is just too old.

BTW, my B and B subscription arrived today, but not with order… which was placed earlier :/ And sadly it doesn’t include any new teas!

Flavors: Hay

Preparation
190 °F / 87 °C 3 min, 0 sec 10 OZ / 300 ML
tea-sipper

Hmm, maybe the virus has slowed down B&B’s tea creation?

Martin Bednář

Maybe. But it made me really sad, especially if I had just those in last year subscriptions. There are other teas I did not had yet.

Brewed this tea bag that I sent derk without trying before.

it was indeed kind of dismal. It is CTC tea as derk noticed, with light floral and beramot. But both are so thin, that floral notes aren’t present if you don’t try to find them. And there is one note that wasn’t mentioned before. PEACH — I have noticed peach flavours in this tea.

It is apparently some cheap tea, very weak in flavours… and more over peach in Earl Grey? Not a fan.

SIPDOWN as a family tea

“Please, preapare some caffeine-free tea for evening”. So I have picked this one…

8 grams per pot of… 2 litres?
Anyway, steeped for again quite long… but big volume, huh?

Huh… it is very cakey, with coconut base. Creamy. As latte it could be great, but I don’t have any milk with me as well. Or cream. Anyway… it is still 78 for me, as I had better; I miss something here. I don’t know what is it though.

Flavors: Cake, Coconut, Cream

After dismal with punch tea, I decided to take another sweet one.

Pecan Pie… Hmm, I really should try it somewhere. Or bake it myself. But I need to get pecans first.

The tea… is naturally very sweet. Roasted nuts, then pecans notes. I don’t know if age smoothed the marzipan notes, but it is less present!

Quite yummy today! 74→78

Flavors: Pecan, Roasted Nuts

Pecan pie is awesome! It is really good served warm or hot with vanilla ice cream, too.

Martin Bednář

I need to find some recipe, if possible easy and fast :)

I am drinking almost everything. Tea bag collector who moved to wonderful world of loose leaf.

Trying to rate differently tea bags and loose leaf as tea bags have usually worse quality.

Photographer now and then. Postcrossing and geocaching member. Very curious person. Logistics student (should finish in June 2021).

Buried in tea right now. Is in my cupboard (trying to be updated) which sparkled your interest? Write me, I would gladly share with you. But I don’t want anything in return now :)
