Backlog and Sip Down

Imagine the most blueberry thing in your life and turn it into a tea! It took me no time to drink the 4oz bag. In fact, it is taking a lot for me to hold off from purchasing 8-16oz of this tea! I brewed it iced for friends and they absolutely loved it, too. The cup offered notes of very fresh and sugary sweet blueberries, vanilla, and doughy pie crust. Yum! If I don’t acquire this on my own soon, I’ll make sure to have it added to my Christmas wish list ; )

Simpson & Vail is so underrated IMO. Just ordered their advent calendar the other day! :D

Nooooo, don’t make me want it!

MadHatterTeaReview

Cameron B. – they truly are! I absolutely haven’t had anything I’ve disliked, yet.

Ashmanra – I’m not here to stop anyone from their impulse to acquire more tea ;)

I agree that S&V is very underrated! I will be looking to see if they have a sale this week, as I am nearly out of so many of my favorite teas…

Backlog

What I’ve noted on the tiniest sticky note is: Floral heavy and dried apricot.

Sip Down & Backlog – 8/27
This was the most disappointing puerh teas I’ve had in my tea journey. I noted in 2021 (time of purchase) that the tea was flavorless. The dry leaf smelled like the cardboard/plastic bag it was stored inside. I took the dry leaf out of the plastic bag/cardboard box and stuffed it with the other sheng cakes. While the tea began to fuse with the surrounding teas (smelling less of cardboard/plastic, and more of the green/fruity sheng expectations), the tea flavor was muddled. I sipped the remaining tea on Monday, and it lasted 2 infusions! Sure, there were some faint fruity notes, but overall, there may not be too much hope for improving the tea, unless having more time to add a Boveda and age for a long while.

I’ve learned my lesson that Puerh Shop may not be the most reliable vendor when one is looking for Puerh. I’ve only had one solid tea from them, but that was years ago at this point, and my memory of the name of it is lost to time (it was a 2016 sample).

I wanted to enjoy this tea more than I had…The aroma from the dry leave is quite caramel
heavy and reminds me a little of an Apple Cinnamon candle wax we use for the house. Unfortunately, the tea was more tea base than flavors (not a fault, I suppose, but whenever you’re expecting a bit of something added to the tea base, you’re disappointed when that something isn’t there). I’ll note that there was some cinnamon flavoring in the mix, but not enough to give it the expected “Candy Apple” experience.

Cameron B.

It looks to be the same as Adagio’s Candy Apple blend, which I always thought was poorly named. More of a caramel apple than anything, and why cinnamon? :P

MadHatterTeaReview

Cameron B. – I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the exact same tea from Adagio. They carry their matcha and mark it as Ohio Tea. Exactly; there’s nothing candy about it, and the cinnamon isn’t making it so.

Sip Down & Backlog -8/22

I made this after work on Monday, but it seemed to have the opposite effect on me…I was up until 00:30 reading. Ha-ha. However, I don’t think this cup was to blame for my late-night adventure; rather, it was the desire to read Don Quixote to 100 pages.

Notes: Floral and a touch of vanilla.

Sip Down & Backlog

Now that Fall is slowly moving in, I’ve been drinking more Darjeeling. Perhaps it’s the joy of having a mug of tea which produces citrusy and florals (Spring-esq) notes. Perhaps it was the week of Summer making a final push before we reach the cooler temperatures, which induce me to drink floral and citrusy teas.

Sip down & Backlog – 8/25

I made this as an iced tea over the weekend since it was a bit warmer on Sunday than it was earlier in the week. I avoid Moroccan Mint Greens due to not being a huge fan for gunpowder greens. This tea surprised me with a sweeter, minty, and refreshing flavor! The gunpowder didn’t get in and take over the mint, which is a relief.

Flavors: Mint, Sweet

Sip down & Backlog – 8/25

I drank this iced in a few hours over the weekend while I worked in the yard laying new mulch around the house. It wasn’t as refreshing as one would believe it to be. It was a heavy Earl Grey and it suited my thirst for tea, but I’d imagine it working better as a hot cup, rather than an iced tea.
