1379 Tasting Notes
As it snowed (and rained) here last night and as I am nervously awaiting the arrival of my new sofa I felt that in order to cheer myself up I would try a new tea that I only had one bag of (as it was given to me by a friend from Finland).
The instructions on the back of the tea bags pouch say to steep for 2 minutes and use boiling water.
Colour: Very dark and coffee-like, or soy sauce if you prefer.
Smell: Floral and fragrant, the berries (which is strawberry and raspberry in this case) are very notable but to be honest hard to decipher as to which berries they are. Had I not known I would not have been able to tell you more. Very sweet smelling non the less and very fruity.
Taste: Very, very sweet on the tongue that continues with the after-taste. Pineapple is noticeable which gives sweetness but also a slight twangy bitterness which I suppose is to stop it from being altogether overly sweet. I do like that this tea uses some black tea as I think that without that slight darkness in taste it would be far too light and fruity. I cannot taste the cherry personally but that does not stop this tea from being as lovely as it is.
It really does have the feeling of being a happy and cheerful tea, it’s easy to drink and is a pleasure to smell. I may have to buy some of this in the future.

I needed a tea to help the strain in my back after moving my old sofa’s out of the house to await collection and the arrival of my new sofa. My body feels like I have run a marathon :( So I chose this tea to help aid me today.
It’s nice, a hint of bitterness but not too much. Strong but balanced meaning that it’s very enjoyable without sugar and gives you the va va voom that you need when tired (was the right choice for me). My husband enjoys it too which says a lot for him as he prefers coffee (rolls eyes).

I need some energy after rushing around like a mad person making sure my house is fit for the arrival of my new sofa tomorrow. This tea looked like a good choice to do the job.
This tea does not have any sweetener for the clarity of the taste test. Also the preparation details are exactly as the boxes instructions indicate.
Colour: Dark honey colour with a slight dark red tinge

I am using this tea as a pick me up as I have a lot to do today. My new sofa is arriving tomorrow which is two weeks earlier than stated so I am running around like an idiot trying to get rid of my existing sofa’s and make space in the process.
As stated on the back of the packet it says to steep this tea for 3-5 minutes.
Colour: Caramel
Smell: Very zesty lemon
Taste: Although the tea smells quite strong the taste is much more mild. Very pleasant and refreshing, light with a touch of sourness. I would say it’s a good combination between the green tea and the lemon as you can taste both quite equally.

I used to drink this all of the time a few years ago as I was a huge herbal tea fan. After experiencing the finer (and the not so finer) tea’s of the world I wonder how this one will bear now.
Colour: Dark Red
Smell: Sweet strawberry with soothing vanilla.
Taste: The strawberry tastes somewhat synthetic..almost like a lollypop or some sort of cordial. The taste of the Rooibos is only very subtle in the background and is hard to distinguish between that and the vanilla. Altogether it’s quite a mild flavour but with a lasting after taste of vanilla.
Certainly like warm squash which I used to drink as a child when it became cold. I would say this is the sort of tea that beginners can enjoy and regular tea drinkers can enjoy as something different. Great for summer.Preparation
This is one of the tea’s that I was given for my birthday. I am drinking this tea and eating some left over birthday cake (twas my birthday yesterday) . Such a nice way to end the day _
I do not have any sweetener or creamer for the analysis of this tea.
Colour: Soy sauce, a very dark brown.
Smell: The very floral and unmistakable fragrance of Darjeeling. It smells as fresh as a green tea but with much more floralness and yet slightly bitter.
Taste: A decent cup of tea overall, what I expected from Twinings. Quite fresh but not the best as it leaves a slight bitter after taste, a little too bitter considering the full flavour altogether. That could be taken away nicely with half a spoon of sugar (much more than that and you would miss the full flavour of the darjeeling). Perhaps a little milk instead of the sugar would suffice. I shall try that next time. A nice cup of darjeeling though for those of us who do not always have the time to brew from fresh leaves.
Overall I would say it’s very relaxing and so easy to make meaning that you could transport this everywhere (work, home, friends house etc). It also goes lovely with my birthday cake…I think this is a must have at work tomorrow towards the end of the day.

This is one tea that I got for my birthday and as I have it in both loose leaf (two bags of) and ready made tea bags (one box of) I had might as well try this one today.
It states to steep this for 7 minutes using boiling water and for the purpose of this analysis I have not used any sweeteners or creamers.
Colour: Honeyed dark brown.
Smell: Cinnamon and chocolate
Taste: Surprisingly subtle in flavour considering the steeping time. It tastes like a very watery drinking chocolate with a few added spices, cinnamon being the most noted. I am not a great fan of chocolate so while I am happy the taste is not stronger I am also disappointed that there is not much of anything to taste. A bit more cinnamon or ginger would not go a miss. It also seems to be very gaseous and has filled my stomach making me feel lethargic and full.
After having so much of this tea left I might end up trading them for something more to my personal taste.
