Oh Golden Snail!
You make me wail!
For you are gone!
I waited too long!!!!
because you are sold out!
I pout and I pout!
Oh Misters Harney!
Don’t give me no blarney!
I’m in a state of shock!!!!
When will the Snail be in stock?!!?!!?!?!?!

I bought a tin at the Harney store in Soho after it sold out online. You could check the shops?

SimplyJenW

Oh, and you could get a few ounces of Tower of London, too!

JacquelineM

That’s a good idea. I’m going to try and sit on my hands and be patient for just a little while, because I am hoping that it will be part of the Fall teas. And I’m a brat and have so many other teas to enjoy – and I shouldn’t be a baby :) :) :) but I am! :) :) :)

SimplyJenW

I hope you can sit more still than I can. I fail at trying to wait. ;)

Uniquity

Your poem wonderfully captures my feelings about this too…especially since the silly Postal Strike means I can’t reliably order from Upton Teas right now, and that was my consolation for there not being any more Golden Snail at Harneys!

ashmanra

Jacqueline – Can I copy/paste your poem to their facebook wall and see if we get a reply? :)

JacquelineM

Sure! Why not ;) Let me know what happens!!!!

JacquelineM

and I hope they write their reply in verse too!!! :)

ashmanra

I posted it! And I added this comment: We eagerly await your reply! Our dwindling stores make us cry! Royal Wedding, the Monkey, and now the Dear Snail, If they dohn’t come soon, you will hear us all wail!

ashmanra

But without the typo!

JacquelineM

ashmanra – I love it!!! Eeee!

Angrboda

Ode to the Golden Snail. I don’t care if I’ve never tried it myself, I love any tea that inspires rhyming by default. :D

Charles Thomas Draper

After reading your post, I must have this tea…

JacquelineM

Sadly, I don’t think Harney has it in stock :( We are all pining for it!

JacquelineM

Also, ashmanra said the new offering Hunan Golden Twist at Harney has some of the same delightfulness as Golden Snail!

Charles Thomas Draper

I will look for it….

I love to cook, bake, read, paint, knit, do needlework, and garden. I need my coffee, but I LOVE my tea. I work at an Art School, and attend a large public university doing post-bac work (my BA is in English). I’m interested in the liminal spaces between art and craft, the academic and the practical, the individual and community, and the old and the new. I’m currently exploring these ideas through the disciplines of education, literature, history, and psychology.

I enjoy writing tasting notes, but have decided not to numerically rate teas as of 9/14/10. For an explanation, see my looooong tasting note about Mountain Malt from the Simple Leaf.

My favorites:
Chinese black teas
A good “milk and sugar” English style black
Earl Grey (classic, and in all variations!)
Vanilla teas (classic, and in all variations!)
Jasmine, Rose, Violet and other froofy, flowery teas!
An Occasional Oolong
Flavored Rooibos
Herbal Tisanes
