Dessert in a cup! I opted to make it into a tea latte this morning with a swirl of chocolate sauce on top. Holy yum! Seriously the toasted mate is SO much better with stronger flavors of hazelnut and chocolate added to mellow it out. So, so good!

I had a second eye surgery on Wednesday of last week. Well, last night was the first night I wanted to make myself something fancy with tea. So I whipped up a tea latte with this tea. I got a lot of great cheesecake flavor with this method and pumpkin too! Will def. try again!

On it’s own this is pretty gross. I think I’ll have to try it mixed with some vanilla comoro or a tea like that to get past the taste of this one. Which I can’t even figure out what I’m tasting.

Preparation
1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

Hands down my favorite fandom blend from Cara! It doesn’t hurt that Mycroft Holmes is my favorite of the BBC reboot. Seriously hello cake in a cup(no really)! Sweet with hints of chai spice. Perfect with milk and sugar. I prefer this one at breakfast time.

Flavors: Cake, Cardamom, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Spices

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

A little in your face like Donovan, but deep down you know she’s just a little bit sweet on the boys….ok maybe not! Lovely chocolate chai flavor in this tea. I also love that the chocolate isn’t lost to the chai spices in the tea. I like this one as a mid-morning pick me up.

Flavors: Chocolate, Cloves, Nutmeg

Do you like cinnamon and chai spices? Well, belly up to the tea kettle and prepare for a great cuppa! I love all the spice going on in this blend. Everything just works really well even though you don’t think it should. I like adding in a little vanilla sugar and light cream or to turn it into a tea latte.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Clove, Spices, Vanilla

The weird thing about this tea is that it is a White Cab…last I checked Cab Sav is a red wine. That being said the tea is pretty good. It isn’t something I would drink every day. But it is something different that I wouldn’t mind trying out now and again or sharing with friends. The jasmine and rose work very well together and give off a very sweet flavor.

Flavors: Jasmine, Rose, Strawberry

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

It’s been a LONG time since my last review here. But I’m baaaack…did you miss me?. Changed the name as The PurrfectCup blog no longer lives. But my regular blog, Gal in the Grey Hat, does. And sometimes I post reviews there. But I’d like to return to doing that here. Anyway…to the review:

This tea (prior to steeping) smells devious. It is totally up to something. Once steeped it smells mostly of the earthy pu erh…nothing at all like Moriarty…but wait for the sucker punch of surprise of the strawberry, cream, candy cane, and peppermint. All of these flavors work so well together even though they hit you at different time in each sip! Truly one I need to have around in the cabinet!

Flavors: Candy, Cream, Earth, Peppermint, Strawberry

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 15 sec 1 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

My new favorite Mycroft tea. At first I wasn’t sure the flavors of apricot, vanilla, and hazelnut would go together. I was happy to find I was very wrong and it is indeed very good. I drink far too much of it for the good of my wallet. Which reminds me it’s time to re-order

Flavors: Apricot, Hazelnut, Sweet, Vanilla

I’ve gotten into a nasty habit at work…drinking coffee. I know, bad, bad. But I’ve been trying to kick that by bringing some of my favorite teas to work and to make a thermos full of something before I leave in the morning. For that I’ve tried pu-erh’s because they are usually super strong like coffee.

The other day I noticed that my local tea room just started carrying this blend. I knew I had to get my paws on some ASAP. So I ordered 4oz. I know you might be thinking this is a bit much for a tea I’ve never tried before. But I’ve only ever had one tea I bought in a large amount from The Whistling Kettle that I didn’t like. My order arrived yesterday and I’m just digging in today.

The dry leaves smell like coffee with hints of chocolate and caramel. Not crummy coffee either, like top notch coffee that might be served in some swanky cafe. The steeped leaf smells more like the earthiness I’ve come to expect from a pu-erh tea. The mocha and caramel notes come out and mix really well with one another in this tea. I think I found a nice way to get a little coffee and yet not feel guilty for not having tea!

Flavors: Caramel, Chocolate, Earth

I think we can like both tea and coffee :) this blend seems to be a nice combination

IllBeMother221B

Oh I know we can. :) I just feel horrible when I have coffee when I could have had tea.

My brother got me a Whistling Kettle tea of the month subscription for Christmas last year, it was awesome!!

IllBeMother221B

You had this tea before?

Daddyselephant

Nope, but their other teas are amazing.

I loved reading this: “I knew I had to get my paws on some ASAP.” Sometimes I like to use the phrase, " … get my mitts on …". ‘Paws’ works too, especially as I feel sometime like I am part canine. :P

Bio

I am a tea lover, a wife, mom of one, and servant to three cats (all rescues). I love to read and write. I’m also a BIG fan of the following shows: BBC Sherlock, Doctor Who, Law and Order, Supernatural, Bones, and more – bless Netflix.

I started drinking and enjoying tea when I was 7 (sure it was bagged Lipton, but it got me started) with my grandmother. As I said it was Lipton with milk and sugar (and peanut butter and jelly on toast) and my love just grew from there. I was brought to loose leaf through a trip to Teavana. But my taste has expanded to many different types of tea since then. I review teas at the link provided, check it out!
