Advent Day 5

Green tea sounded good, then I poured the tea into my steeping basket to find it is a mate. Aw. Mates aren’t often my thing. They end up tasting like ash to me, which is always a disappointment. Fortunately this has enough mint to mask the ash! I sipped through most of this cup when eating breakfast. Mint is the main flavor, but the finish has a slight licorice sweetness and feel to it. It’s subtle. Another acceptable tea that I wouldn’t rush out to buy.

I feel the same way about unroasted mate unless it is used in the right blends (get a smoky sort of taste — or as you put, ashy — that I just don’t like). I also get that in Gunpowder Green, which I can pretty much only tolerate in Moroccan Mint blends because of the strong mint overpowering that note.

Bio

My name is Dustin and I like tea.

I’m an added flavor kind of tea fan, but have had a growing appreciation for plain. I want my tea to remind me of cookies and cakes with coconut and almond slices with a hint of chocolate drizzled on top. I want dancing ponies and flying monkeys shooting off fireworks! And no hibiscus. Hibiscus is the devil.
